I am saddened and embarrassed to have to write this review, but others need to be aware. I have since found other information that I should have looked for beforehand. On February 28, 2016 we found a craigslist ad for dog training. After correspondence, Charlie ( aka Tiffany Chandanais) recommended their 4 week program at a cost of 600.00. Which included human aggression. I am more than willing to give copies of the advertisement and correspondence. My husband took him there on 02/29/2016 around 1:00PMto their Freeport, IL address/ home. By 10PM 03/01/2016, they were texting stated he has severe human aggression and we're going to new to keep him for 10-12 weeks, and another 900.00. Well, our dog never had severe human aggression. We took him there because he was obnoxious. We have 11 children, who bring in visitors all the time and loves to be petted. He thinks visitors are there for him and he jumps all over them, bolts out the door, chews on things, etc. On Sat the 28th my oldest adult son came by with a friend, and all the younger kids were in the living room watching a movie with the lights off. Our dog EEyore bit the friend ( not maim just bit and let go, it did not require stitches or a trip to the ER) This is what led us to seek professional help, but let me stress this was the first time and we are still unsure why- but severely human aggression is a huge overstatement. Even the police officer who went with my husband to pick up the dog, plate with him and petted. Before my husband left him there, they were playing and petting him. We explained his anxiety issues with a crate. Well, we didn't have the extra money, and that was not the agreed upon price. Also, their assessment did not seem true, and we started to feel a little unsure. We told them we were coming to pick him up the next day. We since have found out by Freeport Chamber of Commerce TruHartK9 is not a registered business, and from searching the Illinois Dept. of Agriculture, they do not have a license to operate a training center. It is a 25.00 fee to get the license, so not exactly a huge expense for someone who claims to have 15 years experience as a professional dog trainer. When we went to the Freeport police, their comment was - Oh No, you didn't send your dog there did you. When we gave them the address, they said that was not the address they had on file and that they must have moved and it is just outside the city limits and my husband had to go to te Stephenson County police, which he did. They offered to come with him even though they normally don't, and their reasoning was because they have had quite a bit of similar trouble and stories from others. I encourage anyone considering this facility to contact the Freeport, IL police department or the Stephenson County police before using them. Luckily, we were able toget the dog back. They showed us a video of his "human aggression". They had a rope tied around his neck as they were trying to get him in a crate, and I believe the police officer remarked any dog is going to show aggression in that instance. We also explained to him he has severe crate anxiety beforehand, and they said they would put the crate in their bedroom or stay in the living room until he calms down. They let it slip that they had put him in the basement. They showed us a metal crate they he supposedly "destroyed."The bottom where the plastic pad sits was destroyed and the crate was rusted and looked like it sat outside for a long while, not to mention if the pad was in there, there was no way he could have destroyed the bottom. We sent him with a plastic crate, which he was able to push the top off. So they did return 240.00 of the 600.00 after charging us 60.00 a day for three days ( even though they had him a little over 48 hours), the forfeiture of the 100.00 deposit, and 60.00 for this rusted cage he allegedly destroyed. Further searching on the internet shows they have placed their ad on Craigslist and other free advertisement sites in about every place for at least a 300 mile radius. After talking to some certified and licensed trainers, They said that they don't know any reputable place who would keep their dog for 10-12 weeks, and even in the worst case scenario of severe human aggression where a person can't even walk up to the dog should take no more than 6 weeks in a boarding and training situation. --and for the rebuttal the owner wrote for the other bad review- the reasons they were not convicted is because pretrial begins 3/04/2016, and jury trial begins 03/08/2016. You can search this on Stephenson County website. Again, asks for licenses ( which we should have done, but have learned to do now) and certifications before leaving your pet anywhere.
