In my experience TruGreen is a money grab with quantity over quality. I cancelled after 2 services after I watched the employee service 3 neighbors yards and then mine. The guy averaged 5 minutes a yard. For 2 fertilizer applications and an insect spray I was charged $263.50. It's also worth noting that even though I selected perimeter pest control when I signed up for service I got a half dozen emails and phone calls over a two week span asking if I would also like to pay for mosquito and grub worm service. read more

Since then I have been inundated with daily mail. They found out I was a Vet and used that as leverage to consummate a deal and then the daily Spam. Called for an estimate for lawn work and chemical treatment. Person who initially put a flyer on our door, Ramon, was very pushy. He indicated that once he provided an estimate, he could only apply discounts within 24 hours. As soon as I was off the phone, I received a text saying that my estimate was ready despite making an appointment for the following Monday at 11AM. It is not clear to me how they could provide an estimate when I they have not seen the issues with the lawn. What kind of service would I get when they have not seen what they are dealing with? Early Monday, I received a text and phone call from Ramon's manager that they would not be coming out to give an estimate. Manager convinced me to reschedule for Tuesday after noon. Received a text confirming appointment on Tuesday morning for 1PM. They were then a NO SHOW. WORST experience with a company. I started usiing Tru-Green October 2024. After there first treatment of 2025 I questioned every month up until I canceled in July why my yard still has patches of brown. Through the first four treatments it was a different personal doing the work. Only one had any experience of lawn care. In July I wasn't home but my Ring Door bell was. I seen the technician take his hose to the one side of my house which is fairly big. He wasn't down there but a couple minutes. Mean while I received a text from Tru-Green with my summary. Then the technician went to the other side. He took one swipe with the hose then started packing up. I called and complained about it. They said they would send someone else back out to do the job. I said no. They charge me $104.95. I spent over $1,200 since last fall for service and my yard looked better when I was doing it myself. When I called to cancel the call went to somewhere in Michigan. They wanted me to give them another chance. I said they had four chances this year. I was suppose to received an email that confirmed the cancellations but never did. I went over to the local office in Harrington and spoke to someone about it. The person was very nice and friendly. They seen on there computers that it was cancelled. During that visit I was told each technician does anywhere between 30-35 yards a day. I don't even know how that's possible with travel time too. They did my neighbors yard before they cancelled but ours were never on the same day. I was told by someone I'd be better off with a smaller local company doing my yard. My neighbors yard looks great now that they have someone elese. Tru-Green is a money grab! read more

Over the years, I have been content with the service. But for the second year in a row (I know, I should have learned last year, right?) the latest chemical application at my home in Ocean View DE burned out the lawn. They did it last year, blamed it on faulty chemical mixing and while there is nothing that can be done after the damage, they are least paid attention. But they just did it again. Three days ago my lawn, despite lack of rain, looked healthy and green. Today, patches of dead grass, easily in the line of application, embarrass me no end. You can even see where the application spreader turned around in the yard. I will happily accept recommendation for a replacement company, as it is clear I have now learned my lesson. read more

I still have the weeds we started with from the 12 th of March 2024, was told by sales man they could get rid of the weeds. I called them 3weeks after no change. Reapplied spray still nothing. I called to cancel my service and they asked me to give them another chance, and I said yes. Days later they texted me saying the technician was on his way, then texted me he was here. I started my service with TruGreen in late April of last year. The told me on the phone that they would need a year to improve my lawn. After spending an enormous amount of money with them, countless calls and requests for improvement, I cancelled my service this month April 18. While Chad was always extremely helpful unfortunately he was reassigned early into my service. The other techs unfortunately not only didn't know my property, but left my gates open and applied the service haphazardly. When I politely complained last summer about some weeds still coming up one of them told me I should buy some roundup and apply it. Are you kidding? When applying the service two different times we had to remind the techs that the property next to us was ours as well and should also be serviced per our agreement. If we were not at home they would have driven away incompletely servicing. When seeding and aeration was done in the fall it was done sporadically and ineffectively. I still have huge spots with limited or no growth across my yard, onion grass throughout, crabgrass in spots etc. I was told I could pay for additional lime services in addition to the one I already paid for to perhaps improve my yard. At no time did anyone from the company discuss soil needs or the indications of a soil sample taken. I was constantly upsold on different products online, but why would I even consider these if they couldn't just get the grass right? I asked for a director, owner, or manager to call me to discuss via both the Tech and online several times and there was zero response. No one ever reached out despite my request. Hence one of the reasons for cancelling. I was willing to give it a full year despite the numerous shortcomings. Unfortunately it did not improve much. Save your money, read national reviews. This service is in my experience a waste of time. Please see my picture a year after treatment and be forwarded. Get someone else or go to the hardware store and do it yourself. Our lawn looked awful until we got an expert at TruGreen to come and look at it. His name is Michael Matejik, and we can't thank him enough for transforming our lawn almost overnight! We asked him to please let us know what was wrong and how to fix it; the lawn was dry with lots of dark green tufts all over it. He looked at it and told us what to do, which was to water it a bit more often and in a more balanced way. He also recommended another fertilizer application. Had a very frustrating start with this company! When I first called to sign up as a new customer they answered my call immediately, gave me their sales pitch, I agreed to sign up and they charged me $445.59 immediately for the year. Asked for a receipt and copy of the contract. Sales rep told I would get it. Said I would receive an initial assessment of my lawn in a few days. Never got the receipt (checked spam) and called THREE times to request it. I double checked the spelling they had of my email also. Never received it. Never got tte lawn assessment. Called again and was told I was never put on the schedule. Told them I wanted a full refund. I was then told it would take 5-7 days to receive a refund! You billed me immediately; why won't you refund me immediately? You're keeping the money for 5 to 7 days??!! Very unprofessional and unethical company. read more

Our initial lawn care service with Tru Green was exceptional, service was on time and reasonable. As the summer progressed we were getting brown spots on our lawn assuming it is a fungus and requested treatment which they came out for and treated. Our lawn was still deteriorating it turns out it is not a fungus but an army worm infestation. We called on Sept. 16th to get an urgent treatment as army worms will devastate a lawn in a short period of time. It is now Sept 28th we were scheduled for a treatment for the 29th it was cancelled by Tru Green we have no idea why. We called the Tru Green number and they said we cannot help you. We pre-paid for the service including future scheduled services and some of those have been cancelled as well. We reached out to Tru Green agents and asked to speak to a supervisor, they would not connect us. It is obvious they are not interested in making things right. read more

Not only are they unreliable I've personally witnessed the truck arrive on our property the operator gets out and sticks the true green sign on our lawn, proceed to walk back to the truck and leave without providing any service at all... I have had multiple cancellations of appointments to repair damage caused by Tru Green Aerating my lawn. It has been two weeks and three cancellations by Tru Green. I purchased a yearly contract for over $500.00 and have been ignored by the company since my first call about the needed repair. Where do I begin! I've had their service for 2 mosquito seasons now, giving them the opportunity to improve this season, big mistake!! I have to call THEM every month to ask them to put me on their schedule, that usually takes 2 phone calls, they finally give me a date they are coming, I get the text that they'll be in my area between whatever times they give me and they don't show up at all! The message says they can't make it, no reason and no reschedule date. So I have to call them again, they apologize, make promises, etc. and give me another date. At some point they show up, usually after 2-3 phone calls, but this is not the way to provide service. Now when I call to access my account I'm not even on the schedule for the next month AT ALL!! DO NOT USE THIS BRANCH! My lawn is an embarrassment in my neighborhood. My neighbors use another service and experience a lush green lawn. My lawn has never been more than yellow-green and I now have yellow and green lanes throughout the lawn. I water the lawn daily and twice on 2 days of the week. It is getting plenty of water, but it is low on the nutrients that TruGreen is supposed to provide. I've complained several times and they will re-service the lawn with bad service again. From the start, I've had nothing but problems. They charge for services that they don't perform. I use TruGreen at another home in VA and I am very satisfied. I have cancelled the service, but even that was not without hassle. We came home from vacation to find TruGreen lawn signs in our yard and their service receipt in our door noting what was applied to our lawn. Problem is we never contracted TruGreen. I took a closer look at the receipt & it was for my neighbor. THEY SPRAYED THE WRONG LAWN!!! When I called their Harrington, DE location it goes to a central customer service center. I asked that I wanted to talk to the Manager of the Harrington office and was told I was not allowed to do so. They would leave a message for the Manager and have him call me back. I wanted to make sure this doesn't happen again. The Manager never called me back and no one at TruGreen really cared that they could have burnt my lawn. Our lawn service put down the same Spring fertilizer, weed control application only 20 days ago. I called my lawn service, who by the way actually picks up the phone, and discussed the situation. They said it should be ok but I might see some burning on the tips but it should grow out. Why anyone would put up with a company that you can't personally call the service location and talk to the folks directly involved in working on your lawn is beyond me. read more

I contracted with TruGreen in February 2021 and prepaid for the year $345. My first two services were fine. However my third service on May 10 only treated my front yard ignoring both side yards and rear. Yes we were home so I know this as a fact. The tech arrived and departed so quickly I couldn't stop him to say you missed a lot of grass. After two calls to customer service I had a "complimentary "service to come back and treat the areas not covered on May 10. He never showed up! I used the TriGreen app to track the tech and at 6:15pm he was at least 30!minutes away, but at 6:27 I got a text he just arrived at my property and received an immediate second text he had completed my service by the way applying 17 pounds of product on my lawn!! All of this happening at 6:27!! I have a ring doorbell, the video doesn't lie TruGreen it didn't happen. I have a falsified invoice in my app that states you did work you did not do!! The scheduling is committed but often they do not show up as committed, not because of weather, just because the remote area where I am in relationship to their offices is a reach for them. When I started with their lawn service in the spring, my lawn was green and the grass seed that I planted in the fall of 2018 was starting to grow. At the beginning of September, there were patches of dead grass and my lawn looked awful. This was despite the routine watering with my sprinkler system, and their $400 annual cost to treat my lawn. When their service tech came out to inspect my lawn, he suggested core aeration and power seeding to address the poor condition of the lawn. He said nothing about what killed the grass that I planted in the fall. I contacted them concerning my displeasure with their service, and they never returned my call. I purchased an annual contract with TruGreen out of Harrington DE. for Lawn Service and also Aeration and Overseeding. The Lawn Service was OK but they have rescheduled my Aeration and Overseeding 7 times now and no one calls to tell me they are rescheduling - I have to call them once they either don't show up or my tracking text tells me they are not able to preform the service. I can't get a manager to call me and customer service is only able to reschedule - they have no control over the Technicians. I have cancelled the Aeration & Overseeding service since they really don't seen to be able to do it after 7 times of rescheduling it. I would not recommend them at all. I will find someone else to do my annual lawn contracts in the future. read more

In the spring I signed up to have my lawn serviced by this company. Cost was around $500 for 8 treatments. After all my treatments, my lawn had more weeds and more bare spots than before I started using their service. I would not reccomend this company to my worst enemy.
