I had oral surgery as my tooth was extracted & the socket filled with cadaver bone to begin the seven month grafting period. There was also a suspicious lump on my tongue that was removed for biopsy. I noticed it a year ago & forgot about it. People, this Covid thing has us all going nuts, so take care of yourself. Especially now. Dr. Bonine has on average seven emergencies a day. So if they fit you in to take care of your emergency, relax & enjoy the beautiful building & landscaping. There is also a lovely outdoor area, if you prefer to wait outside. Sorry to be this wordy, but I wanted to make a special attempt to thank the doc and his staff for make what potentially could have been a horrible day into a very pleasant day. BTW - Fear of needles here, there was no pain. Beautiful office overlooking a lovely pond with tons of birds. Great music & especially great people. When the tooth cracked, I called Grand River Dental and was able to see Dr. Rondeau that weekend. Needless to say, I did have to have a crown and unfortunately a root canal too. Dr. Rondeau took great care of me throughout this process. He called an oral surgeon colleague of his who got me in on an emergency basis for the root canal. Crowns and root canals are never a wonderful experience, but I felt I was given great dental care throughout. Since then, my entire family has switched their dental care to the people of Grand River Dental. I find the receptionists to be friendly and welcoming. And the hygienists are always friendly and try to make you as comfortable as possible during the cleaning process.

It's bad enough that dental insurance is expensive and barely covers anything beyond cleanings, but these guys take the cake in making sure you know they'll hold your care hostage if you're poor. Anyone who has ever had pain from impacted wisdom teeth knows just how terrible it is, and how it's almost impossible to function if they get bad enough. My step-daughter needed hers removed, and we had to keep putting it off because we don't have the extra $500 to cover her surgery. Finally, a stroke of luck hit us and my stepdaughter qualified for Healthy Kids Dental through medicaid. We got her surgery scheduled, and suddenly they inform us that we still have to come up with the $500 because medicaid sometimes doesn't pay in a timely manner. Insurance is insurance, and if we qualify for medicaid, it's safe to say coming up with $500 isn't exactly easy. But our choices were to come up with the money, or watch our child suffer. Her wisdom teeth were impacting her ability to do much of anything. Her grades were slipping, she was becoming seriously depressed because the pain made her not want to be social, and she could barely eat. So we scrambled and saved and begged for help. We finally managed to come up with the money, but a lot of bills had to be put on hold to do this. This is a company in a well-to-do area. Most of their clients probably don't have a lot of trouble paying their bills. This place had the leeway to waive that $500, or at least set up a payment plan so she could get her life back on track, but they chose to be greedy and cruel. Don't go here if you're poor. They won't care.

There is a note in their system that verifies that they received the check and it has been pending for 1.5 months. I have called many times and been told it was escalated with no resolution. Today I received a text saying money I paid them already was sent to collections. I also called the office and was disconnected "on accident" after expressing frustration with money being sent to collections that my insurance has already paid. DO NOT GO HERE.

I had 3 appointments with Dr. Ricky Sayal and 2 out of 3 were unsatisfactory. I was initially…read morereferred for issues related to my sinuses and throat and was given a diagnosis of allergies and LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux). DR. Sayal never described LPR or even told me what it stands for, I had to research the disorder on my own. However, I felt satisfied enough after the first appointment. During my two follow up appointments Dr. Sayal was over 30 minutes late to both appointments and the time he spent during each appointment was less than 10 minutes; I felt that he was eager to end my appointments quickly. During my second follow up I had communicated my recent symptoms and mentioned that I was having difficulty telling if my symptoms were improving or not, Dr. Sayal did not ask any follow up questions or inquire about the changes I had made based on his recommendations. I feel that there was nothing that he said that a quick Google search could not have told me instead. I was also off put by the fact that the exam rooms each had monitors advertising Dr. Sayal's cosmetic work; I saw several before and after pictures of rhinoplasties, face lifts, and eye tucks. I do not know the fully extend of Dr. Sayal's practice, but it did not inspire confidence in me given that my ENT referral has more ads for cosmetic services in his offices. Overall, I would say that I have had the unfortunate experience that many have when interacting with the medical system, that of being just another face. I am left thinking: if this is the kind of treatment you provide, why did you go to medical school for all those years?
