The Bank Bar & Grill - Sticky toffee pudding with hot custard

Next, I ordered a Guinness which was also poured to perfection. The staff here are professional, courteous and friendly. My order for breakfast was Eggs Benedict. As delicious as any I have had anywhere. My friends ordered the English breakfast jumbo. The potato fritters were delicious, the beans were exceptional, the mushrooms were delicious and the brown toast was perfect. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. With hot custard. Absolutely delicious. Not cheap but very reasonable for the quality and service. You're going to love it! Nice to see a world-class restaurant in Blackpool. I'm sure there are others, right?

The menu is a huge variety of choices; grill, mains, burgers, pizza, salads, desserts, and the drinks menu is also extensive with a lot of gin and mixer options. My mum loved their toffee pudding, said it was the best she's had. The staff here are very friendly and attentive, the service was excellent with our food arriving pretty quick. The atmosphere is casual and lively, there's two floors of seating and nice music in the background. You can book online which is very convenient. Overall very good quality food, reasonably priced, friendly and excellent service.

The Albert and the Lion - Breakfast at the Albert & The Lion, Blackpool

A fairly typical JDW Wetherspoon pub, but in a nice location: On the Blackpool seafront. I.e. if…read moreyou're lucky enough to get a table by the windows. This place is packed at most times during the day, so often you can't find a table AT ALL - even for one person. On weekends, it's hopeless. Cheap food and drinks attract a certain clientèle, so it can get a bit rowdy and loud - especially since it's only one, big room. The Albert and the Lion is certainly *not* one of the more attractive Spoons - it seems a bit moldy and seedy - no changes since my first visit in 2011. The building itself is impressive, but you can't see it from inside. The outside seating area is *very* limited indeed, just a few tables. Food and drinks, the usual: Fairly impressive selection of rotating guest ales on tap (usually 8-10), plus a broad range of alcoholic drinks of every conceivable kind. All at rock bottom prices. Food is similarly cheap, and there are "club" days where a specific kind of food (say, steaks, Indian food, Mexican, Fish Friday) is offered at an even lower price. Just don't expect restaurant quality - it's all convenience food. No place to linger, definitely.

Those unfamiliar with the centre of Blackpool can be reassured that downtown Beirut on a bad day can look like a villiage in the Cotswolds compared to this town-competing stag parties, rampaging drunks looking for someone with a "little too much mouth" (just a slight glance can set them off!). It can be a tad hairy at night when in season. However, this JDW is not like that despite its central location. First, it is very large, with a really big straight bar at the back and enough space to be reassured you will find a seat. There is always a few real ales on as well as the range of very reasonably priced beers and spirits. The food is the JDW staples and none the worse for it. The name of the pub has something to do with a story about..well, Peter and the lion. I can't recall what, but there are quite nice pieces that realte to the title. Overall this place is somewhere I could happilly spend a night in, though to be fair and honest I have only ever been early evening.

JK's Cafe and Grill - Hot chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, one of the dessert choices for the Sunday roast dinner.

The British beef roast is different from the American version, and they did a very good job on the roast as each slice of beef was nice and tender. The Brussel sprouts and potatoes that complemented the main course were icing on the cake! I typically don't like sweets but their hot chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was a beautiful finale to my meal! Staff are friendly and efficient. The indoor dining room is cozy, while there is an option to sit outdoor as well. Their restroom has paper towels to dry your hands, which is typically not found in many restrooms here in the UK except for fancy luxurious establishments so that was a very pleasant surprise.

We chose this little family run cafe/steakhouse and it proved to be a sound decision. Generous portions of home-cooked food all round. I had the chicken liver pâté to start and it was delightful. My sister polished off deep fried brie and currant jelly & my brother in law the chilli garlic prawns. All of the plates would have passed any cleanliness inspection afterward with absolutely nothing left. For mains, my niece had a steak burger & my nephew the rump steak, both available as kids meals. For the adults, they have many choices of cut of steak cooked to your liking. I agreed with my brother-in-law to share our meals him ordering the 10 oz. sirloin (which my sister also enjoyed) & I ordered the mixed grill. We both like our steaks rare and although some places struggle to deliver, JK's did not. Excellent value and my sister's family all went off with big smiles on their faces to warmer climes.

On the flip side, this is the second time I've been to Toast and each time the staff have been friendly and helpful. The food is hot and delicious (especially the lamb koftas), but a little on the expensive side. If you want to be quite full off a meal, you'll have to order a 'light bite' as well as a main meal, so expect to pay £12-£15 for your food. Drinks-wise there's a lot to choose from. They have peroni on-tap and drinks ranging from mint-chocolate frappuccinos to tea, hot chocolates and the most amazing fruit smoothies (seriously, try the berry smoothies - you won't find them anywhere like these, and they're only about three/four quid a pop). It doesn't look like much from the outside but on the inside its a rather nice little 'gem' of a place. Dress code tends to be casual in the early afternoon to smart casual in the evening. Although a little expensive, it's worth going just to try it once.

The veg was boiled to death. There was a power cut mid meal. The second steak was average and when I was charged £16 I paid just to get out and get to the gala show. Katy the waitress was a star and deserved a tip. Stay away, go to macdonalds, anywhere but here.
