I've eaten a lot of pie over the years, homemade, fresh baked from a bakery and from the freezer, this peach pie was one of the best peach pies I have ever ever ever eaten hands down. The crust and lattice work was amazing, the pie was loaded with larges slices of peaches folded into a slight tart filling and for me the most impressive feature of the pie besides the taste was the texture of the fruit which was still relatively firm instead of being mushy like you get in some fruit pies. I am definitely a fan of this bakery and fortunately for me I have a camping trip planned next month in very close proximity to them and will absolutely pay them an in person visit to see what other goodies they have to offer and to fill my freezer. We were blown away by both the flavor and design of our custom cake, as it was far more perfect than anything we had imagined! Additionally, our guests devoured all of the cupcakes that Jennifer and her team brought over, and they were so excited to be able to share which of the three flavors they enjoyed the most! Spoiler Alert: It was incredibly hard for the majority of our guest to decide on just one because they were all wonderfully decadent and bursting with flavor! I was just minding my business. Anyway...this little market is like a portal to Heaven. You walk in and the smell of fresh bread literally surrounds you. I was hooked the moment I stepped inside. Omg. So many trays and trays of yummy Mexican sweets. People inside were literally loading their trays up...when I got to the counter with my five items the lady was like...serious? That's all you got? Five minutes later when I was all coated in cinnamon sugar and whatnot I was thinking...that's all you got as well. These treats are delish. And lots of em are $0.50 a piece! Hello? That makes my heart sing. I almost overdosed on the churros. Perfectly fried, heavily coated in cinnamon sugar and some of them are filled with dulce de leche? Immediate diet destruction. Warm with a little coffee? More please. They also have delicious flaky orejas, lots of assorted galletas, and the familiar conchas plus slabs of cake and donuts. If you are lucky you might be able to snag some tamales from the lady selling them outside. Definitely worth stopping for!

Oh, Country Bake Shoppe, you got me!…read more Being a bakery owner myself, I'm always excited to visit other bakeries. I genuinely enjoy seeing what other bakers create, tasting their specialties, and supporting the talent and hard work that goes into a small bakery. I stopped by Country Bake Shoppe and picked up Whoopie pies, cupcakes, and a pecan bar. Pumpkin nut bread was NOT on my original list. Then I tasted the Whoopie pie. Y'ALL. It was so good that I had to go back and get something else! That's when the pumpkin nut bread came home with me too. When something is good enough to make another bakery owner turn around and go back for more, that says something! There was something so comforting about this little country bakery. Nothing pretentious--just beautiful, homemade baked goods that taste like they were made by people who truly care about what comes out of their kitchen. As the owner of Sugar Daddys Bakery, I spend so much of my life creating things for other people to enjoy. Every once in a while, it's wonderful to be on the other side of the counter and simply enjoy another baker's work. And Country Bake Shoppe, I ENJOYED YOURS! That Whoopie pie got me through the door, but it certainly won't be the last thing I try. From one bakery owner to another: well done. There is room for all of us to shine, and I will ALWAYS celebrate another baker who is putting love into what they do. You definitely have this baker's stamp of approval. And yes...I'm still thinking about that Whoopie pie.
