My daughter went in with a high fever and rapid pulse rate, Took her O2 and read 93 percent. "Oh she is just very dainty her fingers are too small shes fine. Told us to give her Tylenol and go home. We kept going back because it wasnt working. Pulse was 160, O2 was 93 percent. Took her to Scripps Encinitas and found out she had pneumonia and was struggling. temperature went up to 103. If I could sue TrueCare, I would. I am PISSED. read more

Im going to be brutally honest with my observation because this is a healthcare facility, not a wendy's, and it needs to be seen in that light: with criticism because it is a critical service. This place is a grift and 3rd world country level incompetence with 1st world country aesthetic. You show up to ask for help and the fat lady at the desk tells you they can't help you with ANYTHING until you call their hotline. Can't treat a bloody wound or anything. In her tone you can literally hear that she's eager to tell you why she's aloud to not exert herself at her job, in a medical facility, because of an administrative technicality. You ask her about other locations and alternatives and she utters with befuddled delirium that she doesn't know what any of the other policies are at their other locations. Eyes turned away from you, mind you. Turns out this is in fact NOT protocol for the Encinitas location, and they can help you if needed. You finally set up your appointment after leaving, going through 5 different automated phone-service forwards, and create an account with their tele health affiliate website, get a thousand text messages and email confirmations and pre check in documents, register accounts and fill out all the medical documents online to make their check in lobby smaller, show up, and the doctor apparently calls in a no-show for her "seeing new patients day". Apparently out in advance but the office doesn't even bother to contact you about it. Just a thousand confirmation reminders to make it seem like you're dealing with a competent organization. When i ask the fat desk lady why nobody contacted me before i arrived, she stares at her screen, as though reading from a script, doesn't answer the question, and regurgitates rescheduling protocol. When i ask about alternative appointments, she says i can go to an Urgent Care by true care. I ask: "If i go to an urgent care by true care, can i still meet with a gp to establish a relationship with true care? I have a condition that can't be treated at urgent care, i've tried." The overweight desk lady says "WHAT'S A GP?" This is how this person has handled every interaction i've had with this location. Often blatantly ignoring queries, responding with contradictory statements or scheduling information, and incapable of not sounding like an ai bot void of presence or competence. Bless her heart though, she seems rather gentle, but she should ABSOLUTELY NOT be employed at a critical service like healthcare. Anyways, when's the next available appointment? 1 month minimum. Nice. 2/10, the affiliate website was nice. Everything else is disgracefully incompetent, mildly autistic and/or intentionally difficult. True Care Carlsbad has a big problem keeping a Primary doctor/ Primary Nurse Practitioner there. It's impossible to get continuity of care because of this. There have been at least 5 Primaries to leave in the last year or two. When they leave, the patient is lost in the shuffle, usually only finds out from a letter in the mail, or when they call to try to schedule, and then has to wait a long time to even get yet another first appointment to establish care, hope the practitioner doesn't cancel after waiting weeks, hope they aren't dismissive or short tempered, and then explain from the beginning their complex medical issues once again to this new "Primary" Care person. They keep quitting True Care probably because they are overwhelmed with being the only one Primary Care person for every patient at the Carlsbad location. I don't blame the doctors or Nurse practitioners for this, but it really hurts the patient who needs someone to help them consistently. If you want a Primary Care Physician you can count on, don't go to True Care Carlsbad because unless something changes, they will still be too overwhelmed to care about the patient and what happens to them when they get lost in the shuffle. read more

It ended up just being blood work needed. I went to the dr to get a referral to a specialist they messed that up and I have to go back now. I came in to true care the one located in Carlsbad to make appointment for my mother since she doesn't speak English and doesn't read so I help her out to make her appointments with everything. While I was trying to schedule a appointment for her, they had asked me what was the reason for her making the appointment I had told them that the hospital had sent us here and that they needed a referral from her primary care doctor. Also for doctors from true care to schedule a surgery needs to be done as soon possible since she having issues with a cyst Somewhere that is located in her abdominal area . So that's exactly what had told them at the front desk so the lady there named Jessica ignored me what I had told her so she asked my mom again what was the reason she came in for, so my mother had asked me to explain to her again so I repeated my self . So now she's trying to look for a available appointment i was being polite and patient then she responded then told me that they had march 20th at 9am available so i was explaining to my mother that it if that would okay for her to be a Tuesday . If she was okay with that day but then this lady named Fabiola from the front desk sitting next to Jessica yells out to me and tells me to get it right that it was on the 20th and she gave me tone honestly she made me feel dumb that even my mom was shocked and she told Fabiola that she didn't need to yell at me like that. So I told her thank you and I was trying to explain that I needed to see if my mom was okay with day because she watches my 1 year old that's why I having a private conversation. So I told her not give me tone not to yell at me and interrupted me that was not respectful so I tried one more time but she just kept talking and talking when I was trying to schedule a appointment with Jessica. So I ended walking out ! Wasn't nice what she did they were both not respectful even after trying to explain why I'm helping my mother out. please have a talk with them to I just hope they don't do they same thing to other people that can't speak English and defend them self! Dr Kathleen Carlson & staff were amazing during my visit. I was always nervous going someplace new for a check up but I was pleasantly surprised. I had trouble breathing as a result of high anxiety, both the Dr and the nurse took care of me very well. They are very patient and understanding, I felt very comfortable. They were able to diagnose me accordingly and now my life is back on track. It is hard to find good customer service these days, Dr Carlson is amazing. This place deserves 5 stars. read more

I have been under the care of Truecare Carlsbad. I have had an extremely challenging time with my health over the past two years. My primary NP has been AMAZING. And for the most part so was the support team. Until now. I am waiting on a hip replacement surgery which is now delayed. They failed to send the results from my preop tests after being directed by my NP and to send test results and clearance letter. Now I have to wait for another date to schedule the HRA. I called 3 days in a row. Today I called every hour because the Clinic manager would not respond or return my call. The resolution department was excellent and tried with all their might to get an answer and to get someone to call me back and send an email with the information over to the surgeon. It still has not been done. All they had to do was send over the results with the clearance letter to my surgeons' scheduler. It was not to be. And now my primary will not be in until Tuesday. I feel that they failed me and are sabotaging my care. I'm really depressed, I can't walk, and they didn't even do what they were supposed to do at the direction of my primary. And on top of it, they did not call me back. They really dropped the ball and I missed a cancellation to get my surgery because of this. I would love to recommend Truecare. And I would have last month. But something has seriously changed. Unless you have a lot of patience, I would not recommend. I'm sorry to say. I've never been so depressed in my life because of how they dropped the ball. The manager didn't even call me back. She was supposedly away from her desk for seven hours. Her name is Christine. My mom waited 3 months for and appointment and this Dr gets to the apps. completely unprepared, always in a rush and so rude that if you want to ask something else you need to make another app and wait... After 3 months of waiting? Here diagnosis are very questionable... Where True care is hiring this Drs? Do they have a title? Definitely not worth going back to this place!!! read more

This health services company is anything BUT a service. They have multiple phone numbers and none of them will get you through to a live person. The only times I have spoken to these people is when they have called me. Literally the wait times get up to 12 minutes and then I just hang up because that is ridiculous. Secondly, they are all Mexican and/or speak spanish and get irritated when I can't understand their accent over the phone. Also the messages take extra long because they are in spanish. I have been in touch with this place for 5 months WAITING for a result of my MRI and all I want to know is WHY I am in pain and what the MRI said, but apparently its not of importance. The "doctor" is actually a Physicians Assistant and was very rude. None of her nurses assistants are helpful and don't care about calling you back. If you do get a live body, they put you on hold for someone else. I waited SIX MONTHS for a result of an X-ray to find out I had a fracture and SIX MONTHS for a referral for a physical therapist! just for a referral!! HORRIBLE. read more

The only good thing I can say about NCHS Carlsbad is that it is conveniently located near the 5 freeway, meaning you can quickly escape from the nightmare. I've left this place twice in tears; the third time, I'm just planning my message to the Consumer Protection Agency, the BBB and/or whatever healthcare advocacy entity I can find. Update: a call center rep at the main service number (where I finally called to change my Primary Care Provider location) was IMMEDIATELY sympathetic and understanding when I explained just one of the reasons I don't want to return to this clinic. There was exactly one person here, the nurse (clinician? assistant?) who did my bloodwork, who was BOTH friendly and respectful AND seemed to know exactly how to do her job. Everyone else was pretty much either one thing or the other. A patient should not have to spend 15 minutes explaining what the problem is to two different employees before between the two of them they can extract the necessary information from the computer system in order to discover that, YES! stuff that should have been done weeks before had been neglected. (And was the problem swiftly fixed after that? L.O.L. Not at all. That example is just one medium-sized chunk of the whole disgusting iceberg.) The comically swift response to my negative Yelp review (within 12 hours !!) would have been by far the most efficient form of care I had received from NCHS Carlsbad so far IF this were in fact an example of health care, rather than of NCHS Carlsbad caring more about its reputation than about just doing a decent, respectful, professional job in the first place--which, by the way, is kind of the way you get a good reputation. I've made probably twenty phone calls at this point trying in every way to get this resolved. Responding to your amazingly swift reply to my negative Yelp review is beyond a waste of my time. Let me put it this way: by the time we're communicating via Yelp, you have already lost me. Oh and thanks for the flyer about mental health services--the timing of that, given the dearth of other info I was waiting for, would have been beyond insulting had it not possibly been just a particularly incompetent and insulting coincidence. If it was intentional: a patient complaining about terrible "service" is hardly an example of poor mental health. It's quite the opposite, in fact. I made the mistake of selecting this clinic as my primary care provider on my Medi-Cal plan, but I did so because they would (according to my health plan) be able to refer me to specialists at UCSD, where I'd previously been receiving care. I needed to get a quick referral due to some urgent post-childbirth health concerns, so I called to set up an appointment. I waited for 20 minutes on hold, meanwhile checking the website to see if I could make an appointment online. The website said "call or text" for an appointment, so, since I wasn't getting a live person, I hung up and sent a text. 24 hours later, I still hadn't received a response to my text, so I tried calling the clinic again. After 20 minutes, someone finally answered. I explained that I needed to see a doctor asap, ideally same day, but I was told I was too late: I should have called at 8am. (It was noon.) I was informed the next available appointment at the Carlsbad location would be 3 weeks from now. I asked if their other locations had sooner appointments. The representative, seeming quite burdened by this request, spent the next 20 minutes apparently checking the appointment system before informing me it would be a telehealth visit (prompting me to ask why it mattered what location he booked it at, and he responded, "it doesn't". So this is absurdly complicated to book because...??) The whole call took 45 minutes. JUST TO MAKE A SINGLE TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENT, for a matter that was fairly urgent, no less. I know Medi-Cal providers are rumored to generally suck, but REALLY? Definitely going to seek other options, because I haven't even had an appointment yet and this clinic has already managed to amaze me by how difficult they can make something so simple! read more

My family and I just moved to Carlsbad, CA from Washington. My mom has five kids, and took four of them to North County Services. This is the worst medical clinic around. They are so unorganized and rude, not to mention unprofessional. They say they'll call back within an hour (you get the answering machine every time you call), we got two calls back in three months. They had new appointments when we first moved here to continue their prescriptions. They called in one out three of the kids' prescriptions. These aren't the type of kids that can go without sleep. So for the last three months my mom has called over ten times and left messages. Finally someone returns her call and has no answer to her questions what so ever. No one could tell her why the scripts can't and weren't called in. Then the Dr. says everyone has to have new apportionments for the scripts. What was the purpose of the first visit? And why did you call in the scripts for one of the kids and not all? I cannot deal with these doctors. Seeing a Dr should never be this hard. I do no recommended seeing these drs. They care about money and not the patient. Oh and for the record, they have no on call Dr. WHAT A JOKE! read more

I had a very pleasant experience here. First I was just happy to find that this place was in the Village, and second that they are affordable for people with low income. I didn't have to wait more than 5-10 minutes to be seen by the nurse and everyone was super friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with how nice, clean, and new this place was inside as well. I was not treated with respect as a patient. When I needed answers to my questions I was walked out of the room early. I was told by the doctor herself to come in for an appointment she had set up, and she was not there the day she said and I was unable to pickup my paperwork as promised. They should hold themselves to a higher standard and actually try to listen instead of shutting MY voice out. The worst facility EVER! If I could rate it a zero I would! I went in because I couldn't hear what the lady said over the phone she wasn't clear at all and she wanted to schedule an appointment over the phone so I did. I came in the they assumed I was depressed and I needed to be seen if I had depression issues because of a ridiculous survey they handout at visits. I have sleeping issues it's called insomnia. I'm happy in life and absolutely not depressed. I go in and they say it's $45 to see the doctor. I said that's a waste because I'm not depressed over a few questions for them to assume a 5 minute exam. I've had this issue for years and that's a waste of money. My formal fiancé now husband and I had issues getting pregnant and had been trying for awhile.. So finally I had multiple positive pregnancy test I took prior that month and I said since I'm here can I get a form stating I'm pregnant from the doctor so I can schedule an obgyn appt once my insurance kicks in..They said they needed to take a test. I'm like sure that's fine. I go in and not a single person mentions to me that if I have a positive pregnancy test I would have to pay $45 I got a bill in the mail and I was like are you freaking kidding me I could have waiting a month for my insurance to kick in and had not waited the time to come in because the lady in the front couldn't speak clear on the phone and then be charged $45 for a pregnancy letter & get a cheap test done at the clinic! I'm so glad they realized how unprofessional she is and got rid of her. All the other staff including Amber, the office manager Lupita, the Medical Assistant/Nurse and Roxanna Mata have all been so helpful each time I've visited the clinic and now with Angie gone I'm sure it will be pleasant every time I have to go there. read more

This place has gone down hill for the past couple of years. I have recently changed my children's Pediatrician because the service is not good here. The best service I had was about 2 or so years ago they had a very kind receptionist (Angie) she shares the same name as a family member therefore I still remember. She was at the front and you could tell she loved kids just by the way she treated our family and by how she greeted us. She knew our family by name and was always friendly. I came across times where she was wiping down the toys in the waiting room and the door handles, made me confident that the place was clean and germ free.They have had several receptionist since and has not been the same up front. The assistant before was Anabel who was very friendly but as far as the other older lady named Lourdes she's not as friendly and has always made it clear to rush us through our appointment she's always in a hurry, you can barely get a word in which is unprofessional. The Pediatrician was good but the service now a days has changed from the front to the back. I got the opportunity to take a family member to their pediatrician office and liked it so much that I decided to switch. If your looking for this to be a place for primary care look else where they go through staff at the front like water so I have asked my self why cant they keep staff??? what's going on here? read more

I have gone to this place for a while now. Looking at a post below baffles me and makes me wonder if it's a real post it just an angry coworker if you notice they are not active on Yelp and have no activity going on Hmmmm... that happens because my experiences have been amazing here with the receptionist Angie. I have encountered a friendly receptionist Angie always smiling and even treats my kids superbly. The lady in the back who calls us in named Lourdes has been not so kind. She's snobby always rushing like she's high, they should really get her tested. My visits are much better when someone else takes us back. I dislike Lourdes for her lack of consideration with her patients. They need good people that will listen not rush you and who are professional. She's such a bad staff memeber I even once caught her making an ugly face at the receptionist Angie that I even told Angie about how rude that was and how I felt sorry for her. I don't know how they can work with Lourdes to be honest. I recently went in for a visit and did notice Angie is not there some other girl named I think it was Noelia or something like that who does not smile and is not as friendly at all. It's no longer the good old walking in to a smile and friendly voice. I would say go else where. read more
