True Rest Float Spa in Keene is a great place to float. It's clean, warm and quiet. All the things I need to heal deeply.

Today we had our couples float at Eclipse! This adorable micro-spa is tucked in an inconspicuous…read morebuilding in Claremont. When you open the door you literally step into what feels like another dimension. The waiting room is very inviting and decorated with an upscale-meets-eclectic vibe. The man of the husband-wife duo owners was very nice and informative. The young guy working in the shop would say "welcome back" as patrons emerged from the room. I think that sentiment alone is telling of the experience. Floating is awkward in the first few minutes. Your body isn't use to it so it's like the "uhhh what do I do with my hands" type of feeling. The pod is closed while you float in an epsom salt bath that was 92 degrees. The ambiance is customer-choice with buttons in the pod that control colored lights, darkness and another that controls music or silence. We chose black darkness with beautiful music. My brain was hither and yon as it always is- but I was so relaxed. Jen and I floated away from one another but sometimes our bodies converged. I finished out the last however long with my hand on her hip, although I was worried about sinking the floater. We emerged from the float and took a shower in their European style shower section of the room and Jen raves about the shampoo and conditioner. My legs feel, for once, at ease. My back doesn't hurt. My feet aren't a constant aching presence. I'm sincerely looking forward to how I sleep tonight. Jen and I are so relaxed we decided to get into bed early and just watch Disney+ with our littlest girl. Maybe I'm imagining it.. but my anxiety is so minimal that I don't even care about getting chores done on this Sunday. My biggest chore day. Yet- I'm still so grateful.

Not too far away from where I live, and very reasonably priced. Easy to find once I got to Claremont, and felt immediately welcomed upon walking in! As I had never been in one previously, I certainly benefited from the gentle instructions. And once in the tank it took me a couple minutes to adjust to the degree of peace and relaxation I was being offered, figuring out the sound and the lights, etc. At which point I opted for total darkness and no music. Just listening to my own heartbeat. It was wonderful and I truly recommend it! Heads up--the little bottle of spray water in the tank comes in handy! And I appreciated that they let me leave my car in their parking lot while I walked around and enjoyed downtown Claremont. Five stars, easily.

With everything being by appointment only & trying to go somewhere local, I chose Serendipity. A friend of mine also recommended I try it. It's basically next to impossible to get a weekend appointment because of high demand, but luckily I work 2 minutes up the road & we snagged an appointment for 6:20. My neighbor & I got the "Heel Peel" pedicure, and her daughter (she's 8) got something like a "junior pedicure" or something (not sure). They are practicing COVID safety very well. You either call or text when you arrive to be let in. You pay ahead, as well. The room we were brought to had plexiglass between each chair. The sanitizing products they use were on deck & ready to use between each customer. We were the only 3 in the room, so it worked out anyway. We each had our own technician; they were all nice & fun to chat with. There wasn't anywhere to hang our coats or place our stuff, but it was out of the way (we set things on the floor beside us). The only part that I would say I disliked was the little time for the nail polish to dry. My toes were finished 2nd to last & they had only been drying for about 8 minutes. They said it would only need about 10 minutes, but being someone who paints their nails on a regular basis, I wanted to give at least 15. My neighbor's toes were done last & hers had only been drying for about 5 minutes. The spa was approaching closing time, which understandably we didn't want to be in their way, but I really don't think mine or my neighbor's nails were dry yet. We didn't bring sandals or flip flops because it had just snowed & frankly, I didn't think to bring any. One of the technicians came in to "check" the dryness, said we should be all set & returned to closing up. So we put our socks & shoes back on. I got home & my nails were all ruined. It was a big time bummer. My feet & heels were super soft & felt great, though! I would love to come back. I'll make an appointment with my mom & maybe try one of the other services they have. The environment inside is really eclectic & cozy.
