After three visits... I can certainly recommend it for the deep relaxation and pain relief the visits has provided for me. This is truly quality "me time" like I've not experienced before - because of not having any distractions at all. The float session takes place in a private room with shower facilities and a pod with water "supercharged" with a LOT of Epsom salt. You shower first then float. As I relax in the pod, the salt in the water allows me to to naturally and effortlessly float. I chose to do my time in darkness without lights with the pod open the first time. Then the next two visits I closed the pod as I became more comfortable with the experience. But you can adjust your environment with pod open or closed... and choice of lighting... and choice of music and sounds. It's really a body, mind & spirit experience, it feels... amazing!!! I had been dealing with a long healing twisted ankle and foot issue.... and it really has relieved that pain... and allowed me to sleep through the night without waking due to pain spasms in my ankle and foot. I've also found I have gotten AT LEAST an extra hour of sound sleep on the days I have floated over my typical night. Definitely - give it a try!!! read more

I had a really relaxing visit to the float spa and overall enjoyed my experience. The front desk wasn't the friendliest -- a little gruff, not rude, just not super warm -- but once I got checked in, everything else felt calm and welcoming. The common areas were clean, smelled great, and they offered free water and complimentary herbal tea, which was such a nice touch. The float room itself was set up nicely with fresh towels, ear plugs, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Since you have to shower before and after the float, having everything ready made the process simple. I had been told they provide shower shoes, but that wasn't the case this time. Thankfully I brought my own, so it wasn't a big deal. One thing I really liked was choosing the music beforehand. They have a wide variety, and I went with classical -- it added so much to the ambience and helped me settle in and relax. Quite honestly I'm somewhat ambivalent on my experience. Alyssa was incredible. She was nice, attentive and explained what to expect for my first visit. The room was incredibly clean and the pod was centered in the room so it wasn't difficult moving around before or after my soak. The only thing I work they offered was some leave in conditioner treatment for us gals who have longer hair, because your hair will be tangled! Even though they offer conditioner and combs... the combs are flimsy and really didn't help to untangle anything. My other observation is that the owner or manager (I didn't catch his name) was quite unprofessional, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, he seemed nice enough, but his sales approach was pushy, and quite honestly, off putting. It was not personable whatsoever. He went through their holiday promotions so fast that every person I observed that he helped were confused and signed up for memberships that they were clearly confused on. After he left, the one lady even mentioned to Alyssa that she wasn't quite sure what she had signed up for. As someone who has worked in corporate sales for over 20+ years I can tell you he was selling just to make a sale which is sad because the memberships hould be marketed as an experience- that's where the added value comes in and will prompt people to buy a larger membership and retain that membership for a longer period of time. Other than the pushy sales approach my experience was good. As someone who has a chronic pain condition and practices several holistic and alternative measures to help offset flareups, I can see how it would help others to relax and rejuvenate. read more

The employees are overall very nice and pleasant and willing to answer any questions you may have. The place is very, very clean and the same with the pods. I'm excited to have this so close to home versus the drive to Ann Arbor, not that I'm complaining. I love all the things to do in Ann Arbor. I'll definitely return -- likely not with a membership though, because I'm not sure I'll even use it enough to go once a month though they roll over... Let me start by saying that: 1) I am the last person in the world to try something like this; and, 2) I am the first person to have a panic attack in an environment like this. Having say that: 1) I am SO glad I tried it; and, 2) Not only did I not panic, but I had one of the most pleasant, relaxing, wonderful spa experiences of my life. First, let's get some logistics out of the way: Check for Groupons and call to schedule; or, find your closest location and book online. If this is your first float, you'll need to arrive 30 minutes early for an orientation of sorts (e.g. paperwork, a tour of the facility, a video that covers float positions, etc.). If you choose to float in the buff, which I personally recommend, then you will not need to bring anything with you. You will be provided vasoline to protect cuts, wax earplugs, towels, flip-flops, q-tips, body wash, and shampoo, as well as a bathroom and a ready room for when you're done. It is important to note that a current menstrual cycle or recent spray tanning are cause for delaying your float. You will be given your own, private room, which contains the shower area and pod. Once alone, you first shower with body wash and then plug your ears completely with wax. It is then time to get in the pod. The pod is only about 10" deep. With the hatch closed, there's 1-2 feet of space above you. I'm 5'10" - I estimate having a foot between you and the sides all around. The water is slightly warmer than body temperature; and, the air is comfortable, though it gets steamy as time passes. You have three buttons: one to communicate with staff; one to change the colors inside the pod; and, one to mute the music (if you choose to plug into the auxiliary with your own). The float begins with 10-15 minutes of music. I chose to do a full surrender position (both arms above my head and legs splayed and natural) and use the additional head/neck floating cushion. Once you get comfortable and start some deep breathing, you'll stay pretty much in the center of the pod. You will exert zero energy and create no stress on your joints, as the Epsom salts keep you floating in a restful state. The float ends with another 5 minutes of music. Once you're done, you simply take a shower, towel off, and get dressed. After I was dressed and ready to join the outside world, I indulged in 15 minutes of lavender oxygen bar with a cup of herbal tea. This was a fantastic end to my spa session. A few personal recommendations after my own experience: I recommend bringing a hand towel in with you that you can tuck in inner pod arm. This is helpful if you need to wipe your face, as there's nothing worse than salt in your eyes or feeling too sweaty. I also recommend trying each colored light. Ultimately, to my own surprise, I chose no lights at all. Try to wear loose clothing, as the room is humid enough afterwards that tight fitting clothes are pretty tough to struggle back into. Finally, you really want to force yourself to do deep, deep breathing - even deeper than yogic breathing. It's the one thing that kept me from freaking out about the small space - and totally saved my peaceful state of mind throughout the float. You'll notice that as the room is warmer, and as you breath deeper and deeper, you may struggle to take full breaths as the oxygen declines. I simply opened my mouth and did deep mouth breathing rather than in through my nose. I'm really glad I didn't open the pod because I think it would have totally ruined the experience. While I didn't actually fall asleep, I did have moments where I was close - and that was enough for this first time. I think, after some "practice," I would definitely leave feeling re-energized rather than a little sleepy. My body felt relieved of the stress and tension of simply being upright or stuck in an office chair all day or in a car - any of the things that add to the aches and pains of living and the general exhaustion of simple, daily life. I highly recommend True REST Float Spa Perrysburg - both for the friendly, attentive, helpful staff and for my unique, awesome experience. I hope to see one of these spas open in Pittsburgh. Something different and new, floatation therapy is sure to dull your senses and take you on a relaxing trip away from your everyday stresses. After your trip you can also opt in the included oxygen bar (plain or infused with essential oils) in the common area. I came here with a Groupon so it was nice to try this out on a discount. Oh, and I'm 36 weeks pregnant so I really wanted my aches and pains to subside after a full body Epsom salt soak. You can book your appointment online which is convenient. If it's your first time, you will have to arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment so they can explain the process, show you a tape and give you a tour of the common areas. Within your room, you have your own shower with provided fresh towels and shampoo, body wash and conditioner (they all smelled like tea tree oil infused products). In addition, they provide you with petroleum jelly to shield any wounds from the salt sting and ear plugs. The music queues when it's time to step into the pod, but you can then opt to shut off the music and lights within the pod using inside control buttons. If you really want your own tunes, there is also an auxiliary cord to plug into your phone outside of the pod on the wall. The experience itself was relaxing but because I shut the pod door, I felt very stuffy coupled with the fact my baby is taking up some of my lung space. I eventually opened back up the pod to let some air flow through. I couldn't get to the point of falling asleep like my husband did in his own pod but I definitely want to try again the next time. If you decide you like it, you can subscribe for their various memberships which can be shared with your significant other at intervals of 1x, 2x or 4x a month ($60, $50, $45 per session respectively). read more

I received a one hour float session as a Christmas gift, and was very excited to try out this experience. Prior to coming, I did a lot of online research for what to expect and how to prepare in order to get the most out of my experience. We started off by sitting in a little pre-spa room that had a very funny informative video. The pod experience was very interesting and unusual, and felt like nothing I had ever felt before. The last thirty minutes made me feel like I was zooming off into space. They also have many different cool light patterns that you can play with to customize your experience. Unfortunately, perhaps because the day was so cold or because my pod (and the door leading to it) was open while the procedure was explained to me and the two people I came with, it was quite chilly in the room before I started. The water in the pod was a very comfortable skin temperature, but the contrast in temperature with the colder air was quite distracting. After 30 minutes though, it warmed up significantly and then I could finally feel the intended effect of no difference in temperature between the water and the air. But of course I felt a bit disappointed that it took half my session for me to stop feeling cold. After the session, there was a well supplied room with amenities like a hair dryer and lotion etc., and then we got to try the oxygen bar, which was also an interesting experience. A very nice girl named Maddie helped us through the whole process, and made some pretty funny jokes at the end. Although she listened to my complaint about the temperature of the air in the pod, she did not offer any type of compensation or solution to the problem. I would recommend this experience to other people, but I think if I want to float another time I might try somewhere else. read more

I floated at True Rest's new Monroe street location today and had an amazing experience for my first time. I went in unsure of what to expect, but left extremely relaxed and and at ease (both mentally and physically.) The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, plus the private float rooms are not only super clean but also very well designed (with waterfall showers and beautiful tiled floors!) Afterward, I was treated to hot tea and got to try some different flavors at the oxygen bar. They also have a large, fully stocked vanity including; male and female hair/skin products, blow dryers, combs and towels, where you can get ready after your float. Wow!! I received a float as a gift and was initially nervous about the closed pod, but after a few minutes of anxiety, I was completely relaxed. We had just flown back from pacific time zone at 3am and were suffering from exhaustion and jet lag. I ended up with an hour of the most restful sleep I have ever experienced. I actually felt disoriented as I wondered where that hour went. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated. Next time I am in the Toledo area, I would like to go for a second float when I am not so exhausted. I think it would be easier to practice mindfulness in this environment as it is devoid of external distractions. I find it difficult to completely relax during meditation when my body gets achy from staying in one position. Just need a True Rest to open in Dayton now. read more

Wow! This place was awesome! Had my first session and I look forward to the next. I am recovering from a concussion and heard the flotation tank is very helpful in recovering from that. The venue itself is very relaxing and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The place is very clean and well kept. After my session I walked out of the tank and felt like I was glowing with a radiance of peace and calm state of mind. This is only after one session. I have heard it takes at least two or three times to see results, so I cannot wait to go back in there and do it two more times to see where I'm at then. Afterwards I got to use their Oxygen bar where there are different scents to help with specific symptoms that may occur. For those who love to relax with some tea, they had some delicious tea to sip on while you wait before you enter or after your session. read more

True REST, where do I begin? For Memorial Day I was reminded of my experience here for a Veterans Appreciation event where free floats were given to Veterans who signed up earlier this year. I was notified of the event by a friend and decided to sign up as it sure seemed like a lovely gesture. Then I showed up. I walked in the door and stood by the front desk for about 10-15min while other employees spoke with guests there but I was not acknowledged until after that employee was finished with her conversation, even though we made eye contact. Pretty unusual not to be greeted at a day spa, but that's okay. Then there was Mike. Mike finally greeted me, was confused at first but then finally realized I was there for the Veterans Appreciation event. He explained the process and sat me down in their introduction room to watch a video. Then things took a turn for the worse. As I was watching the video I was periodically looking at my phone to communicate with my driver who planned to pick me up afterwards so I could stay "relaxed". I was hassled by Mike several times to put away my phone as if I was a child. This of course irritated me and I informed him what I was doing and that I'd also had a float elsewhere before so I knew the gist. After that he finally took me back to the room I'd be experiencing the float which was a very nice, clean, and modern setup with private showers, etc. Then he started asking me questions about my service which I attempted to answer quietly and quickly as the walls seemed very thin and other people were floating in the adjacent rooms. Then he started asking me questions about my health history and a disease I was recently diagnosed with. Mike repeated a lot of sensitive information and began prying into my deployment experiences, which is of course never a pleasant conversation. This in combination with Mike's high-pressure sales tactics was enough to make me so incredibly annoyed and sick that even after he left and I showered and got in to the tank that I couldn't calm down and certainly didn't have a relaxing time. I left 10 min into the session because of how irritated I had become. Mike informed me he was the owner's son. If this is the case, then this business needs some serious sensitivity training. Mike has the tact of a used car salesman, something NO ONE wants to experience at a spa. Sales pitches are expected but maybe try some tact first. Mike also very obviously prays on women's tendencies to be more polite and quiet, (something I experienced but also my friend and another female veteran there that day did as well) making this also a very uncomfortable experience in general. Step up your game True REST, because the last thing I felt was rested. read more

Although this was a great experience, after deciding to buy a membership, living a distance from the spa, i couldnt get there every month, so my visits built up, and after getting 8 built up i decided to cancel my membership, and called later to get a float, and was told i had no visits unless i opened my membership again. Be very careful, you can lose a lot of money if you cancel memberships with floats you havent used!!! read more
