Right off, Wally insisted we go out for a sea trial at no expense to me. Additionally, Wally emphasized that if I wasn't satisfied, I could easily get my deposit back. There were some issues at the sea trial, though Wally took the boat to a well-known shop in Deltaville to get everything fixed at no expense to me. We have the boat now and couldn't be more satisfied. Wally went above and beyond my expectations. For 1, he drove to my house to pick up the deposit on the boat. 2, he arranged for a sea trial on Sunday. 3, He took the boat to the shop and arranged to fix all the issues. 4, on the day of purchase, we accidentally left the key at Bouy 8 and Wally offered to bring that key to our house in Kilmarnock. Unless you have months to wait for your boat and have no regard for your money go someplace else…read more There are many boaters who do drop off their boats for six months and are happy to spend excessively on boat maintenance but if this is not what you want do not go to this business. There is not much competition in the area and I have gone here twice. Both times were for 2 week or less jobs that ended up being over 2 months. Rain, holidays, sick employees are all excuses for delayed work. This is an hourly business and a task that should take one or two hours will appear on the invoice as a ten or twelve, or more, hour tasks. Tasks where a power tool could be used will be done with a hand tool. Think hack saw instead of reciprocating saw and picture two employees operating the hacksaw at one time. It really happened! Your boat will be dirty, inside and out, when you finally get it back. Vendors who come in to do wax and bottom jobs are good and work very quickly and use time saving electric and pneumatic tools. Check everything before leaving. Look for tools and parts in the bilge. Check that everything works correctly like bow thruster pushes in the right direction and not rigged backwards. The invoice has been a jaw dropper both times. About a 30% charge above whatever a generous estimate would be for the work. The hour totals are unbelievable, if true then there is a very serious time management issue or there are integrity issues. I checked progress on the boat every other day based on my first experience and did not see the effort match the hours on the invoice. Little to no communication re the pace or work unless you initiate it. The yard is organized and customers are allowed to work on their boats while here, which is nice, but your boat will be there for a long time. Address every issue, delay, or questionable time management and status of your invoice frequently during the process because once the invoice is written the owner is not open to a discussion and will resort to the old chestnut "if I give you a discount, then do I have to give everyone a discount" as a response to a question about charging 24 hours of work to remove one part. Avoid this business if you plan to boat in the same year you want to get work done.

After a $800.00 repair bill for new carburetors, was told all was good. When I took the boat out a couple of weeks later, NO CHANGE IN MOTOR PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!! So took it to another repair shop and was told that the reason was motor not pumping cooling water. After calling Poni back regarding this issue, I was informed that they would look into the issue, for another cost. They also stated that since I did not request they sea test the motor they did not perform such a test. With a comment like that, I declined to have them service the motor and had another marine look at it. They found that the lower unit water impeller was damaged causing the cooling issue. Plus found that the carburetors had green mold inside them. After I informed the owner of PONI, I was refunded $200.00. But that does not cover the expensive of having to have a real mechanic look at my motor. And this establishment claims that they are a Yamaha service center. With the type of service I received how can this place have five stars?

Caveat Emptor - Buyer(And Boater) Beware!…read more When my boat was recently launched from Norton's Marina I was slapped with an exorbitant fee of $300 to move it into a slip prior to my departure. This fee was never communicated to me until I had left the facility and was within 5 minutes of home. The scheduler and management had ample opportunity to advise me of the cost at the launch when we spoke just an hour earlier. Was this withholding of valuable information accidental or calculated? I don't know. What I do know is that all information must be available to make a rational and informed decision. Had I been apprised of a $300 fee to move the boat at launch you had best believe the boat would have been moved from the slings directly into the slip, avoiding a completely unnecessary $300 fee. I e-mailed and phoned management to request a person to person meeting to discuss my concerns but my attempts to reach out were never returned. My message to boaters travelling and staying in Deltaville is that you might want to look into other marina options in Deltaville.

I found Tony's/Teal Marine's number at the local West Marine... and wow, professional from the very start! We initially ordered a new transducer, but found that the chartplotters only needed a software update. I called Tony back and he was able to cancel the transducer order at no cost. I still wanted to install the AIS system, and being a transient boater Tony was able to find a gap in his schedule THAT very day due to a foul weather survey cancelation. When he arrived he was courteous, professional and knowledgeable. He got the job done quick and everything works perfectly. I give my highest recommendation to Teal Marine. It was an interactive sail and we got to take part in the operation of the boat. Was a lot of fun learning the ins and outs of sailing. One of the nice perks is that is a small group of folks on the boat that adds a much more cozy experience. We met a lovely couple and their kids (Rich, Heather, Caitlin and Jackson) from MN and enjoyed our time together. The end of our sail was made special when rarely seen group of dolphins joined us and provided much appreciated entertainment.
