Keith came back on the 26th, as promised, and looked at our steering system (which had just been replaced in Annapolis) and came back again in with 3 proposals. After a thorough discussion of each, our decision was made but the contract repairman was on vacation until January 6th. As we came to witness, many of the employees here are ready and willing to work, even the contractors. Keith is clearly a well respected businessman in the community. Our contractor was not out of town, so he got started on our job on the 27th and completed it on the 30th, quite, impressive. We have taken the boat out for a trial run, put her through some steering challenges and feel confident that the job is completed correctly this time. As for the creature comforts here, the bath house is spotlessly clean, the laundry room has 2 washers and 2 dryers that are $1.50 per load, there is a very nice guest lounge with coffee, TV, books, and a soda machine. Finally, there are bikes to easily get you around the local town area and a courtesy vehicle for longer excursions or provisioning. All in all, we will definitely return here and recommend DBY/Deltaville Marina to our friends.

All of this an more!…read more There are many boat yards and marinas in Deltaville, VA. Many have similar sounding names. Deltaville Marina is on the southern side of Deltaville situated on the newly dredged 10 ft. channel that follows Jackson Creek. Brand new in the summer of 2018 this facility have splendid floating docks with at berth fueling and pump out serves now being installed. Traditional docks are also present. The new docks are where the covered boat sheds used to be. New swimming pool coming also as I write. The sister facility, Deltaville Boat Yard, is a true All American yacht maintenance and refitting facility. Typically Sailboats, Cruising yachts or some classics from around 40 to 70 plus feet are under the aegis of many AYBC certified techs. My vessel is being refitted at DBY and though I reside 190 miles away I chose DM and DBY both for the competence and attention to detail at generally much more reasonable prices than many repair and berthing facilities in the Baltimore-Kent Island-Annapolis areas. There is also free shore power, Wi-Fi, laundry and ice for slipholders! So no nickel and dime-ing for additional items. The on-site staff is top notch. Also, there are several boatyards minutes from my slip where I can either have someone work on my boat or I can DIY if I prefer. Fellow slip holders are very friendly and have already made DH and me feel very welcome without being intrusive.

This family-owned full-service marina at the southern entrance of Chesapeake Bay is extremely well run, clean, organized & friendly. Everyone I dealt with here at every level struck me as honest, friendly & competent. I had to leave the boat over the winter to have the transmission, shaft seal, & cutlass bearing replaced. Because they charge one price per boat (not per foot) for winter storage the place is full of very big sailboats wintering on long passages up & down the US coast. Mine was on the smaller side. Because they allow you to work on your own boat, which USED to be the norm, I spent many weekends over the fall & spring there & got to know this beautiful area filled with lots of marine businesses & extremely friendly people willing to help out a stranger. I was actually a little sad to leave in Spring. The yard did my repairs on time, highly professionally & their prices were reasonable compared to many other bigger-name marinas in the area. Their well-maintained facilities also included free use of a pool, showers, clubhouse lounge & even use of a car for local errands. Deltaville is only about an hour by car from Colonial Williamsburg & close to other historic sites like Jamestown. Sailing families with kids will particularly enjoy stopping here, though there is no mass transit as far as I could see. DYC sells boat gas but not diesel, which was a surprise, but it isn't far away. The inlet to get in here can get shallow but I saw scores of big deep-draft fixed-keel sailboats on the hard here so evidently not a problem. You just need to time your comings & goings well. This breakdown could have been a soul-destroying, money-sucking nightmare for me at some other marinas. Instead, I was extremely lucky to land here. Can't praise & thank everyone there enough.

We bought a Sea Ray 390 with some known issues at a very good price. We pulled into Chesapeake Cove on the advice of the previous-owner's technician. Even though we had no appointment and they were VERY busy the week before 4th of July, the techs took some time away from their regular work to help us out. They were able to plug in their computer, do a diagnostic and determine the issue was the manifold risers (which we were told was a likely issue, in our survey). They were very thorough and professional. They told us we could get home just fine, as long as we watched the engine temperatures. We had a lovely shower in the bathhouse, filled up the boat with non-ethanol gas and they loaned us a car to get dinner/groceries and comped us the overnight berthing costs. The price they quoted was considerably less than what our marina in the Potomac quoted, so we're considering a trip out to effect repairs in the spring.

It's a small and hands-on yard, where you can work on your boat or just leave it with confidence knowing that it will be well cared for. John arranged for me to have a spot to tie off the evening before my haul, and he was involved in every aspect of successfully hauling and blocking my boat. He has answers to resources in town for parts and services. The bathroom was clean and the WiFi worked without any silly hoops to jump through. I am happy to be there now and will be happy to return again in the future!
