Deltaville Yachting Center - Spring launching

Deltaville Yachting Center

The transmission of my new-to-me1983 Wauquiez 38 broke down just off Deltaville on a long trip home…read morefrom buying her in FL. The towboat/US guy brought me here & I couldn't have been luckier. This family-owned full-service marina at the southern entrance of Chesapeake Bay is extremely well run, clean, organized & friendly. Everyone I dealt with here at every level struck me as honest, friendly & competent. I had to leave the boat over the winter to have the transmission, shaft seal, & cutlass bearing replaced. Because they charge one price per boat (not per foot) for winter storage the place is full of very big sailboats wintering on long passages up & down the US coast. Mine was on the smaller side. Because they allow you to work on your own boat, which USED to be the norm, I spent many weekends over the fall & spring there & got to know this beautiful area filled with lots of marine businesses & extremely friendly people willing to help out a stranger. I was actually a little sad to leave in Spring. The yard did my repairs on time, highly professionally & their prices were reasonable compared to many other bigger-name marinas in the area. Their well-maintained facilities also included free use of a pool, showers, clubhouse lounge & even use of a car for local errands. Deltaville is only about an hour by car from Colonial Williamsburg & close to other historic sites like Jamestown. Sailing families with kids will particularly enjoy stopping here, though there is no mass transit as far as I could see. DYC sells boat gas but not diesel, which was a surprise, but it isn't far away. The inlet to get in here can get shallow but I saw scores of big deep-draft fixed-keel sailboats on the hard here so evidently not a problem. You just need to time your comings & goings well. This breakdown could have been a soul-destroying, money-sucking nightmare for me at some other marinas. Instead, I was extremely lucky to land here. Can't praise & thank everyone there enough.

No way would I list with this broker and I wold be very reluctant to spend time or money even looking at their listings.

Even after the sale, they are still there for you! If you are looking for a great place to buy, look no further than Norton's Yacht Sales!!! Owner of a new Jeanneau 895 Series 2!!!

Caveat Emptor - Buyer(And Boater) Beware!…read more When my boat was recently launched from Norton's Marina I was slapped with an exorbitant fee of $300 to move it into a slip prior to my departure. This fee was never communicated to me until I had left the facility and was within 5 minutes of home. The scheduler and management had ample opportunity to advise me of the cost at the launch when we spoke just an hour earlier. Was this withholding of valuable information accidental or calculated? I don't know. What I do know is that all information must be available to make a rational and informed decision. Had I been apprised of a $300 fee to move the boat at launch you had best believe the boat would have been moved from the slings directly into the slip, avoiding a completely unnecessary $300 fee. I e-mailed and phoned management to request a person to person meeting to discuss my concerns but my attempts to reach out were never returned. My message to boaters travelling and staying in Deltaville is that you might want to look into other marina options in Deltaville.

These guys are a joke; they have no clue what they are doing…read more I had a part that needed to be returned to Yamaha to re-program it. I was told by Yamaha to send in the part thru a dealer, and they would re-program it for free. I went thru Norfolk Marine (Big Mistake). I dropped the part off on Wednesday and explained to the service manager what had happened and exactly what Yamaha told me. I also provided him the information Yamaha requested to be sent in with the part. He said he would have his tech look at it, I asked him why and that it just needed to be forwarded to Yamaha, he said just to verify the part. A few hours later I received a call from him saying a Yamaha tech would be out to program and install the part. I said that Yamaha was very specific stating the part could only be programmed at Yamaha. I asked him if he spoke to Yamaha and he said yes (this was a bold face lie) and they told him it could be programmed in the field. He told me the tech would meet me at 8:00AM that Friday. I took off of work Friday morning and the tech did not show, I tried to call the service department's manager at 9:00AM, and he was not in, the receptionist said she would let him know when he came in, he returned my call about 15 minutes later and said the tech was wrapping up and would be out shortly, he showed up around 10:00AM and told me no one had scheduled him to come out to my boat. He spent about an hour or so and could not get the part to work, he then called his office and tried a couple of other things, still did not work, he then called Yamaha, and they said the part would have to be sent to them in order to get it re-programmed (waste of 4-days). They then sent it to Yamaha, and it went through some problems there. Yamaha finally got it programmed and overnighted it back to Norfolk Marine (Thursday). I called Norfolk Marine the next day (Friday) and they said it did not come in and they would be looking for it. I called the following Monday, and they said it still had not shown, I then called Yamaha, and they told me it was signed for and gave me the tracking number. I entered the number, and it said it had been delivered the prior Friday. I called Norfolk Marine, and they went on an Easter egg hunt, come to find out it was delivered to the parts department and they refused it and told UPS it was supposed to go to Yamaha. It has been over 5-weeks, and I have not been able to use my boat, the part is now missing, and Norfolk Marine has no clue where it is.

On 21 June '25 i took my 2006 Hurricane Deck boat in for a 'Fuel filtering & purifying' service due…read moreto the outboard motor (Yamaha 115HP) being sluggish above ~3,500RPM. I explained within the last year I had changed out all fuel filters (between squeeze bulb and low pressure fuel pump, between low pressure fuel pump and Vapor Separator Tank (VST), high pressure fuel filter in VST), replaced High Pressure Fuel pump, fuel injectors, and installed a fuel water separator. I called on Wed. (25 June) to check on status of repairs and was notified by service manager that a technician had taken a fuel sample and identified that there was no issue with the fuel. I do not know the location (inside fuel tank?, fuel line off squeeze bulb?) of the fuel sample that the technician took. Additionally, I was informed the technician noted there were Auto Lite spark plugs in the outboard motor and changed the spark plugs to NGK (OEM) and stated the engine ran fine and was ready to go. Of note, I had changed those spark plugs to Auto Lite's (which are marine replacements for a Yamaha F115) last year. Cost was ~$417. I took the boat home on Fri. (27 June) and ran it in the water (NO CHANGE TO THE SLUGGISH CONDITION). After further troubleshooting myself I identified the engine oil level was way above normal (indicating a low pressure fuel pump dumping gas into the oil). I changed out the low pressure fuel pump and I'm in the process of cleaning/changing out fuel injectors. My frustration is that no one contacted me about not doing the fuel filtering & purifying, changing spark plugs, etc. before I called to check on status. Furthermore, I found the 'way above normal engine oil level'. I will never do any business with Norfolk Marine again.

NEVER, EVER take your boat to these idiots!! Please heed my…read morewarning because you may pay dearly (money, time, aggravation) otherwise. There are plenty of competent boat shops out there, but this is not one of them. They have had our boat since May..... And they still have the boat (now September) - that's the entire 2025 summer waiting for them to fix a simple small oil leak. The boat was running when it went in, but apparently no longer runs. We did pay quite a large sum of money to briefly discover (in July) that the boat wouldn't run at all, even after they "water tested" it before we picked it up. So, back to the shop the boat went, and still remains today. We have never received a call to discuss diagnosis of the problem or plans for repair. The last conversation was today when i CALLED THEM and was told the engine is basically shot. So from a functioning boat to a blown engine under their watch. How happy would you be? How satisfied with their knowledge and customer service with would you be? Just some things to consider before you consider using them. And consider these things very carefully before you entrust your boats, etc to these incompetent people. I have a strong feeling we will be seeing them in small claims court very soon.

While most boat salesmen would have given me a few details and told me to come see for myself, the owner, Chris, went over the boat with a fine tooth comb telling me every minor scratch or issue. We even negotiated the sales price prior to my drive down there. Everything was exactly as he described it. The boat and motor (which they had tuned up prior to selling) run great. I as so impressed with their customer service, honesty, and Chris' knowledge of boats and motors that I took it back for installation of some electronics. Couldn't recommend these people higher. Well worth the drive.

Garrett's Marina is top notch; if you want to be treated like you are part of a family than come to…read moreGarrett's for your boating needs. Here's some background on our experience. My wife and I bought a boat from Louis and Sonia in spring 2019 and we are very thankful that we did. When we decided that we wanted to buy a boat, one of our requirements was to buy a boat from someone that we could trust and someone that would continue to be there for us after we bought a boat. Obviously buying the right type of boat was the most important, but since we are first time boaters this was important to us. One day my family decided that we check out key west boats at Garrett's. Up until this point we had been looking at every dealership in the area and wanted a center console boat, narrowed it down to a few models. We spent a entire day at the marina looking at boats, did a sea trial, and ended up buying a key west center console. During the entire sales process, Louis was a straight shooter. He went over everything about our boat, what we need and don't need and what not to waste our money on. The boat buying process was simple and Louis and Sonia took care of us during the entire process. The day we picked up our boat we did a sea trial and Louis went over everything about the boat. I felt comfortable and later that day we drove our boat out of the marina and continue to love our key west! I still call and email Louis all the time with questions and he promptly returns my phone calls, even after hours!!!! Highly recommend that you come to Garrett's for the following: buying boats, boat service needs, and boat storage. If you want to be treated like family than come to Garrett's.
