I was in the Miami area to check out the art installation at Faena Beach for Miami Art Week. Whenever I'm in the area, I always check bookmarked spots I want to check out. Decided to hit up True Loaf which was close by. True Loaf is located in Sunset Harbor next to Tequiztlan Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar. Also two spots down from Maman which is one of my fave bakeries. I stopped into True Loaf to scope out their selections. The young lady at the front was nice, I didn't get her name. This spot is more of a bakery with a huge kitchen area and limited space to order or sit. They had a few patio tables outside but no sitting area inside. Quick order and go kind of space. They had a display of food options in the front window and ordering area. I also didn't see a menu or labels for the pastries so it was hard to decide what I wanted. I was going by visuals of what they still had available. I ended up getting a canelé. And let me tell you, they made a quite perfect canelé with the crispy exterior and custardy interior. Each canelé costs $5. I knew a nice bakery like this would make a good canelé. You can just tell. I would come back to try some of the other items including the croissants, sandwiches, basque cheesecake and pastries! Cute spot. Happy I found this.

How does True Loaf just keep getting better and better? So glad this gem remains open and successful in the Sunset Harbour area of Miami Beach. Staff is always so kind and helpful. They tend to either sell out or nearly sell out so definitely plan accordingly. It's small but might. In the last month I've been twice and have enjoyed my pastries very much. I tried the chocolate walnut cookie which was so good. Most recently I tried their cheese pizza special they have on Fridays. It's Detroit style and was very delicious and fresh. The winners for me were the mango brioche and mango passion fruit Madeline. Wow! No words. So fresh and airy. I can't wait to be back!

I haven't been in a few years and decided to stop by for some baked goods and it was as good as I remembered! It's a really small place, so it's great to swing in and pick up some stuff and leave. I got a few croissants and they were nice and flaky with great flavor.

Freshly baked bread and pastries. Love getting a loaf here (they slice it for you) and the croissants, BLT and PB&J sandwich.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a great bakery and we need to go again and try more stuff. My husband had a brownie and he loved it. I had a raspberry cream cheese danish. The flavor is well balanced and the pastry was fresh. My main criticism is that the pastry was $6 and, yes, that is normal for the area, however, it is still kinda a lot for a pastry

Recently making news when a rival bakery gifted them a new Sourdough starter it can safely be said that True Loaf Bakery hasn't missed a beat, owner Tomas Strulovic still greeting long lines and prone to selling out of popular items early on weekends. Sabotaged by a failed air conditioner in July, Zak Stern of Zak the Baker coming through to replace True Loaf's starter, Saturday morning found the space at 1894 Bay Road fully packed though those with the foresight to pre-order were met with absolutely no wait. Aggressive for such a small space, items ranging from Viennoserie to Donuts, fans of Brenton Butter Pastries will note True Loaf's Kouign Amann exceptional thanks to faultless lamination while the Almond Croissant is fairly flaccid without much flavor besides the Sugar and Nuts on top. Accepting the assignment for Donut flavors in Miami, both Guava Cheese and Dulce de Leche piped inside Brioche performing admirably, there's something to be said about the nostalgia of an Oatmeal Cookie and from the crisp rim to soft center filled with warm aromatics Strulovic's is a dream come true.

A favorite for us on Sundays. You have to get there early to be able to get their donuts, guava and cream cheese are to died for. For beach days, their sandwiches are so yummy and light. We love their turkey and Brie cheese with a touch of marmalade. Is a must every time we go.

TLDR: Are the flavors here excellent? Yes! Is this the place to go for crispy pastries? No.... Saw so many amazing reviews for this place but was unfortunately let down by my personal pastry experience. I care a lot about the texture of my pastries, and nothing I got here was the crispy, flakey goodness I crave in baked goods. However, the babka was really excellent and given it's not meant to be crispy, that did exceed expectations! PASTRIES: 1. Chocolate Babka (5/5) - Soft, pillowy, and love the addition of hazelnuts baked in 2. Guava cheese danish (4.5/5) - Not crispy but the guava and cheese are a really nice combo in this 3. Raspberry danish/croissant (4/5) - Would have been so much better if the dough wasn't as limp as it was. The cream/cheese filling was undeniably delicious though 4. Ham and cheese croissant (3/5) - Despite actually being the crispiest thing I got, there was surprisingly little filling. With more filling this could have been a winner! 5. Almond croissant (3/5) - Just wasn't hitting the right notes for me.

I've had thier products before but finally visited their location. Tried their chocolate chip cookie it was very good. Sampled some of their other pastries and a cortadito. Hits the spot if you have a sweet tooth.

Very expensive, $10 for a loaf of bread. Bread flour is very cheap. It was not worth it.

Located a couple of blocks off a major road (Washington Ave.), Las Olas Cafe felt like a hole-in-the wall neighborhood joint - a team of off-duty police officers were enjoying their dinner inside the restaurant, and families were eagerly lined up at the to-go window outside the restaurant. As I waited in line to order, I perused the menu, which included breakfast items, coffee, and a variety of sandwiches. Even though there were only a couple of customers ahead of me in line, each meal was made-to-order before the next order was taken. This meant that the staff prepared about half a dozen coffees, a couple of smoothies, and several meals before it was my turn to order. When I finally placed my order for a Cubano sandwich, I waited about 20 minutes for my food to be prepared. My sandwich was served piping hot, and I eagerly took my food to go so I could enjoy it at the beach nearby. Despite the wait (about an hour from the time I arrived at the cafe despite the short line), my food was delicious. The sandwich was stuffed with crispy shredded pork and ham, and a generous amount of mustard, melted cheese, and pickles pulled it all together.

I was in the neighborhood to get a badly needed haircut while visiting from the Bay Area for work and next door on the corner on an otherwise unassuming street is this solid legit Cuban sammie and coffee place. Locals galore sitting outside sipping strong Cuban coffee and eating Sammie's and empanadas. Who am I to argue with the locals. They definitely steered me right on this one. The Cubano was stuffed with moist roasted pork and ham with pickles and melted cheese. The spicy garlicky green sauce that comes with it could make an old shoe delicious ! The coffee was spot on and that roasted pork and plantain empanada also hit the proverbial spot. All in with tax and tip for $25 I was stuffed full and now remarkably fluent in Spanish ! Esta bien Las Olas Cafe ! Muy muy deliciosa !
