Wow. What an incredible place. Not too many treatment centers practice what they preach these days. I have received thoughtful care from a staff who actually cares for the first time! This is the longest I've stayed sober and I am hopeful this is the last treatment center I'll have to go to. Called here to see if Dr. Roybal (who I guess only sees patients in full treatment programs), but was recommended to see Dr. Lowe instead. Couldn't believe how quickly they were able to get me in, and how nice and understanding the doctor was. The visits are not cheap, but unlike the three places my insurance seems to cover, True Life is a nice place with staff that listen. I would NOT recommend this treatment center to anyone who is going through a serious drug treatmentl process. I found the physician to be extremely egotistic, controlling and condescending, especially at critical points in therapy. I was actually told "do you really think you are OK? by Dr. Roybal whose job in my opinion was to say "you are going to be OK I am here to ensure that." Then to charge a fortune for this type of treatment is just far beyond acceptable. I will also agree with other reviewers that the costs of the clinic are extremely expensive for the potential of treatment that may be required. 18K per month was required during my time there. The insurance billing process is a nightmare as others have stated. One definitely feels a few weeks into your treatment as if this clinic really is all about putting money in Dr. Roybal's pocket. A strange feeling of preying on the weak. Very sad. Also this is an outpatient facility. As a clinician myself, I would highly suggest that anyone going through a drug healing process would be better off finding a good therapist, following an appropriate slow taper schedule with supervision, a good massage therapist, chiropractic neurologist, acupuncturist, and seek out solid nutrition protocols with meditative exercises like yoga, tai chi, qi gong and meditation. WAY more cost effective and likely, far superior results. read more

I've seen Dr. Roybal and Baylea O'Connor and both are terrific. They are professional but also exude kindness, and sincere caring. They give you confidence that they know what they are doing. And they do. Dr. Roybal helped me relax as a parent and become a much better one. My whole family is grateful. Baylea helped me improve how I dealt with everyday stress. She also cured me of a long-standing and inexplicable phobia of riding in a car as a passenger. I no longer scream and cling to the dashboard when I am not driving. Our daughter's psychiatrist had recommended that we put our daughter into an intensive outpatient program to take her off zyprexa and possibly put her on a milder medication. When I read about true life, I got so excited to finally find a "holistic" approach to mental health. It seemed as if all we got was medication after medication from psychiatrists. We told them we were signing up for 4-6 weeks and specifically asked for 3 things. We not only verbalized it, but put it in email form. 1) to take her off zyprexa and if needed put her on abilify 2) get her into exercising and put a schedule and accountability for her to exercise 3) help my daughter transition into work, school or something she would like to do. The nutritionist at True Life had originally mentioned that she had gotten 2 bipolar patients off meds thru nutrition. My daughter was given choices as to how she wanted to fill up her 12 hours, and she never picked exercise or nutrition and they never even asked her to. 4 weeks into the program, she was on full dose of zyprexa, AND they added lithium to her meds. Needless to say, my daughter was not feeling better after 4 weeks with them, and Dr. Roybal said that she was afraid for my daughter. One session prior, Dr. Roybal told me that she had gotten patients off meds thru exercise, the nutritionists had worked miracles with food, yet none of them had been used to help my daughter. Instead she was given more meds BEFORE even trying any natural methods. Not a holistic approach at all. 4 weeks into it, they told us that my daughter's therapist, Chris, is the peron that helps their patients set goals and accountability. It would be awkward for them to have Chris help my daughter set goals, since he is currently her therapist. And we should hire another company for an extra 2000-4000 a month to help her with her goals and exercise program. The staff is nice. Dr. Roybal is also very pleasant, but not sure if she even believes in the holistic approach. In her own words "she doesn't discriminate between meds"....in her mind there is no difference between lithium and prozac. It just doesn't seem like they know how to effectively implement their philosophy. Its almost like you have a bunch of services under one roof, but big gap between concept and delivery. I can get those same services for a 1/3 of the price any where else. They kept pushing us to sign up for more and more weeks when they couldn't even deliver what they had promised in the first place. After 6 weeks, my daughter was Not off zyprexa, but she was on zyprexa and lithium. She had may be 2-3 exercise sessions during her whole program, and one nutrition class. So they did not deliver anything they had promised us. They had no exit strategy..meaning that after 6 weeks of seeing Dr. Roybal and confiding in her, they said that if we don't sign up for 9 hours a week, she could no longer see Dr. Roybal. For us, it was a waste of money. They didn't do one thing they promised us they would do. I think they are a very new company and have a lot of things to work thru. And unfortunately a lot of push to sign up for more and more weeks. read more

This is a first rate treatment center that is well organized, highly qualified and incredibly thoughtful and caring in the services they provide. All this top treatment/care doesn't come cheap but when you are literally dealing with "life or death" it's well worth the investment. read more

Where to even begin? True Life Center gave me my life back. I was at the end of my rope, ready to be done with it all before my parents talked me into trying one more place. Right from the start, it just felt different here. I felt normal, and no like a crazy person. Everyone I talked to really looked at me and really listened. Looking back now I can honestly say I would not recognize that very desperate, scared girl. The team here - and I love every single one of them I've worked with - helped me uncover and deal with some very serious trauma that I figured would haunt me forever. I feel...happy!! After decades of avoiding Psychiatry and having a high level of resistance to any kind of medication, Dr. Roybal and her team made me feel comfortable from the very first appointment. She took the time to get to know me before making any treatment suggestions, and I am feeling better than I ever have. I appreciate her extensive knowledge of the addicted brain and how to work with that from multiple perspectives. When I first looked into working with her, I noticed all the reviews were mostly 5s, a few 1s, and nothing in between. That's when I knew she would be awesome. This organization has been one of the most frustrating I have experienced in a long time. Their program is one size fits all. They have one great therapist we wanted and that's why we signed up but it was extremely difficult to create a program that worked. They were not flexible. The billing and insurance group is the absolute worst. They don't submit correctly, the staff is not skilled at working with insurance and they are not responsive when you inquire. Sadly I am an expert on these programs in seeking help for a family member.There are so many other programs that do customize their programs and know how to work with insurance to the advantage of the patient. read more

I don't recommend TLC. If you're looking for a place where the patient's well-being is unquestionably the top priority - look elsewhere. There are some great therapists but TLC is FOR-PROFIT. Period. Another review mentioned Dr. Roybal stated she was fearful for the patient - same thing was said to me. The aforementioned "concern" came across as a disingenuous, crude attempt to stop me (i.e. my money) from leaving. Discontinuing treatment was a hassle. Roybal left multiple "worried" messages with my original doctor (note: there were no continuity of care issues). Roybal was such a nuisance my doctor's assistant called me to see if I could get her to stop calling. I had to send Roybal a Cease & Desist letter. Carefully consider if you want a therapy program or doctor that didn't respect a patient's right to stop treatment until they were threatened with a lawsuit. read more

Pure Bullsh$! Unprofessional beyond belief. I was asked to do a Genomind test there which I was hesitant on doing because we had already spent so much money. They told me not to worry that they would cover it, so I said yes. Guess who got a nice $300 bill in the mail multiple times? Me. Guess who never received the copy of their own results, which is against the law? Me. I've called, my wife has called, my new Dr. has called probably around 20 different times between all of us to get this fixed. It's always the same crap. Oh, we will take care of it, and then nothing happens. No phone call squaring things up. Just lies. Genomind hounds me about a bill I owe asking ME for help because they can't get anyone in True Life to handle it or call them back. What a joke! And today, I am now officially in collections because of this $300 bill that they said they would handle multiple times. So grossly unprofessional and careless for a company that receives so much money from patients. I think it's time to consider suing. read more

I am that guy who researches everything to death. It takes me days on the internet to decide on a restaurant for a date or which new camera to buy. So when it came to helping a close friend find addiction treatment, I naturally turned to the internet. Excuse my language, but addiction treatment online reviews are a sh**show. Seriously. I guess that's to be expected when dealing with addicts and the mentally ill, but according to the interwebs each and every treatment center is either the best treatment center on the face of the earth run by angels straight from heaven, or a total scam where patients are locked in their rooms 24/7 and forced to scrub the floors with a toothbrush. Here's what I did and what I recommend: just call the place! You get a real sense of a place by how they take their admission phone calls. Some didn't answer the phone at all, others made me feel like I was talking to a telemarketer at a call center. The woman who answers the phones at True Life was a real, genuine person who listened. She spent thirty minutes on the phone with me listening about my friend and his addiction issues. She clearly knew what she was talking about, asked the right questions, and seemed to really care. So why 4 stars? Because my friend didn't end up going there. His insurance is really bad it turns out....but credit where credit is due - customer service here gets an A+ read more

Luckily, a good friend of mine recommended I check in to True Life Center for Wellbeing and ultimately, this treatment was my game changer. This group of doctors and therapists are the most educated, smart, caring and creative that I have ever met. They also are cheerful and positive, It seems like they really love what they do. They created a program specifically for me. All the other programs never did this. Never worked with me so closely and so 1:1. I actually saw my therapist 2-3 times a week. I've also never felt my psychiatrist wanted to get to know me before I met Dr. Roybal. She spent the time really getting to know me, asked me questions about my life that mattered, and made recommendations that changed my life. The whole team was focused on helping me feel better, find my authentic self, and integrate daily practices of self care. I'm still doing them. I meditate and do yoga nearly everyday. Everyone tells you that they are going to give you the tools to live a good life, but this team actually taught me. read more

This place saved my son's life. He had been suffering from depression for years and started using drugs. He had nearly died of an overdose and we as a family were on our last straw. We sent him to over 10 different residential programs. He'd been to the hospital a few times and we had run out of options, not to mention out of money. Then we found Dr. Roybal and the team at True Life. First let me say, True Life Center is an outpatient treatment center that has psychiatrists that really care. Dr Roybal spent hours with my son figuring out who he is, what was going to help him and really built a sense of trust with him. She never pushed meds on him. But believe me, she knows her stuff. My son had seen over 20 psychiatrists in his life and they never have gotten the medications right. I am so proud to say that my son has been sober for almost 2 years and his mood has never been better. When I first met Dr Roybal, she was so relatable and kind that I couldn't believe she was the Doctor. She is that rare Doctor that you'll meet once in a lifetime who makes you feel normal and understood. I'm saying this because she didn't just meet with my son but she invited in the whole family and really wanted to see my son in the context of his family. We did family therapy weekly with an incredible therapist who also changed our lives for the better. True Life was in communication with me on a weekly basis, giving me updates, getting my feedback and checking in to see how we were doing as a family. It sounds all wonderful now and I literally could not be happier for my son who is working, has a girlfriend and has hope and joy in his life, but he and all of us were in a very dark and hopeless place before we came to True Life. When you go on the websites of these places, they all say the same thing. It is SO hard to find good treatment. Well, I have living proof that True Life is the real deal. They have more MDs and PhDs than all of the rest of the program's my son went to combined. At most places my son was in group after group. Not at True Life. Most of the care he received was individual, one-on-one care. That's unheard of! But from my perspective and from my checkbook's perspective, it made all the difference. My son continues to go to True Life for therapy a few times a month and sees Dr Roybal monthly. He has not been back to residential treatment or a hospital since his treatment at True Life. As for the money, True Life did all of the billing to our insurance for us and we got a nice check after my son's treatment was complete. This was one of the biggest shocks. Our refund was hefty. We got more than 80% back from what we paid and they did all of the paperwork for us. We just deposited the check. It had been over a 10 year journey of pain, sadness and darkness with my son's mental illness and drug use. I wish we would have found True Life much earlier. We all got our lives and our joy back thanks to Dr. Roybal and the team. I wish this good and life-changing experience on all the people and families struggling with the pain of depression and drugs. read more

I Have been a patient at True Life for just over six months. I can say unequivocally that this is the best treatment center that I have ever had the privilege of experiencing. I have been battling addiction for the last fifteen years and have been in and out of some of the finest treatment centers in the country. I have also spent a significant amount of time in jail and in state funded treatment centers so I have a realistic perspective on both. No treatment center is going to be able to work miracles with someone who isn't willing to make the effort or put it in the work to get better. You can spend 70k a month and ship your kid or spouse off to promises or passages or some place like that and if that person doesn't want to change then the treatment center isn't going to be able to help them. I have been to 12 step and non 12 step treatment centers and True Life incorporates the best aspects of both of these programs. They offer a complete comprehensive program that deals with addiction all the way down to the root issue. Not just addressing the symptoms. Granted that I understand that I feel that I was in the right place in my life to fully take advantage of what they have to offer at True Life, I can say that with all the earnestness and honesty in my heart that this rehab center is without a doubt the best treatment center I have ever seen! They truly do care and they really do offer an individual approach for each patient that is tailored to that persons individual needs. Other places just say they do that, but they really don't. If you are willing to put in the work it takes to get sober and stay clean the team at True Life can help you on your way. Or if you are coming out of an inpatient treatment center this place is a great transition back into the normal schedule of real life. I honestly cant say enough about the staff. I have been to very expensive treatment centers that barely have anyone with a PhD on staff. The Staff at True Life is the most experienced, and professional staff that I have dealt with. I want to re emphasize that I know what I am talking about when it comes to these things as I said before because of the amount of treatment I have had in my life. The Staff at True Life truly are experts in their respective fields. Not to mention that they actually have the proper level of accreditation and certifications in their respective fields. Most treatment centers say they have all these professionals on staff, while their maybe one or two people at a Masters or PhD level. That is not the case at True Life! Everyone is an expert at what they do. Anyways as you can tell from my review I think this place is the best treatment center around and if you are willing to put in the effort they can show you how to not only get sober, but to stay sober and be happy! read more
