Foremost she is a certified positive trainer. I was most impressed by how she looked at every detail- my dog, me, my husband. the house, neighborhood etc so she could really drill down and create a plan for us. SO much better than reading a book and trying to apply theory when just starting out. (books are good too but I like a teacher) Beth suggested we could benefit from her Reactive Dog Class and it changed our lives and that is no exaggeration. It was an hour drive and 100% worth it. Boots on the ground, in a group setting with one on one help. Not at all easy to find reactive dog classes like hers! First you have an awesome experienced trainer, her team is fantastic, a safe outdoor location where you can learn in real time the ways to help your dog (and you) feel more confident bc you have been there with Beth (Fiona and trusted helpers are great) with other dogs and owners. You get to see their improvements too. Anyway, I took the class 4 times maybe. While so many times isn't necessary I loved the structure. Don't hesitate to contact Beth.

Listen, I'm not sure where to start because there's so much I want to cover regarding OLK9's Day…read moreCamp Program. First things first, Craig [Martin] is a Rockstar trainer. Period. Our very first interaction was great...his energy was wonderful...he did not disappoint! He was very methodical with his approach...explaining every step of the process...very engaging...constant updates of the Boyz progress...videos, photos...wait! The photos that I received were Ahhhhhhh-mazing, I mean impressive...only to learn that he's a photographer as well...but I digress. The Boyz are spoiled and I have no shame in stating this...*smile*. But they needed to learn manners. I have two large and very strong Standard Poodles - Mr. Brown and Max. They're extremely smart, pretty obedient in the house, but a huge challenge on walks...my poor dog walker. I wanted to be able to take them anywhere without the extended conversations of sit, stay, what are you doing? you know better... etc. At any rate, I'd been following OLK9 Maryland for some time online. I knew that training for two dogs was going to be a budget buster. Thankfully, I was able to take advantage of the "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" (can't remember which one it was). I cannot say enough about the great experience I had...the Boyz were happy to see Craig each day which was a HUGE relief for me. Yes, additional work/training on my part is required...to me that's a no brainer. As a responsible pet owner, I want to make sure that there is consistency and an expectation that my Boyz are well behaved and well mannered. Which means I have to do the work. Funny, as I was driving home from our final session, I was so tempted to take them on a short walk because I knew it would be enjoyable. But decided to wait until morning... I'm so excited to be able to have an enjoyable walk with these guys... less scolding and more bonding. Well worth the time and financial commitment. Thank you OLK9 Maryland for bringing additional joy to our home... things are definitely more "manageable". I'm really looking forward to our walks, especially since there will be NO more pulling! Can't wait to be able to take them to the "brick and mortar" with me once it's open! "Life Changing K9 Training"

I wasted over $1,000 to unknowingly abuse my dog through Off Leash K9. I sought help because my dog…read morewas reactive toward other dogs, loud vehicles, and people. I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

This review has nothing to do with Dreamy Skies training capabilities as unfortunately I never got…read morethe opportunity to work with her.   I reached out via the website and picked a time for a :15 phone consultation, I was looking for an immediate slot, but settled on the first available which was a week away. I booked and waited to be able to chat through options that were available for my pup.  As many do, I work in an office setting, I waited for the call to come in which was minutes late (3 minutes if we're looking for details, 11:48 AM) I quickly listened to Karen's message and immediately called back (within 3 minutes of the missed call). There was no answer.  Within 5 minutes I'd also sent a follow up email explaining that I was still available and eager to discuss my pet, no response. Ever.  I should note, the message noted that I'm outside of her service area. Her website advertises D.C. training opportunities, lists an address in Mount Airy, where I'm from and where my family resides, I can work remotely from anywhere and can easily be available no matter where she requested to meet.  She also advertises boarding and training packages on the website which sparked my initial interest.  My family owned and a well known local kennel in the area for more than 30 years, I love the setting of Mullinex Mill Road (which is rural) and I thought it would be a better setting for my dog's training than some other businesses located in busier settings.  Put simply: I specifically sought out this trainer for their location.   After calling late for our scheduled consultation and no follow up in spite of a follow up email and phone call(and message) from me I'm bummed.  My family has owned and operated two local small businesses. I know things can get lost, but the lack of customer service was really disappointing.

We highly recommend Dreamy Skies!! Our 3 year old rescue dog, Sammi, had fear aggression and…read morereactivity towards strangers and other dogs. We worked with Karen for 8 sessions over the past 6 months and we have seen a tremendous amount of improvement. The first time Karen met Sammi, she immediately noticed her high anxiety and she explained how this attributes to her aggression and reactivity. She showed us step-by-step methods to teach Sammi to be more relaxed and less anxious. It's incredible how much her anxiety has improved since we first started. As Karen explained to us in the beginning, this is a slow and steady process and we still have much more progress to make with Sammi. But we have all the tools and knowledge we need to allow her to succeed. This type of training is not quick and easy - it is important to do the work and stay consistent, but it is so worth it!! It truly does work! We have a much better relationship with Sammi and we're so grateful to Karen!
