I initially discovered The Mad Tatter while searching for a piercer to assist with a challenging piece of jewelry, but it seemed like the right place for my first tattoo--an Alice in Wonderland design I'd been wanting of for over a decade. And it was a wonderful decision. Isaac, the owner and artist, brought my vision to life in ways I couldn't have imagined. The consultation was smooth, creative, and collaborative. He listened carefully, offered thoughtful suggestions, and designed a piece that beautifully captured what Alice means to me. I left the consultation feeling confident that this was the place for me. On tattoo day, despite my nerves, the entire staff made me feel at ease. Isaac was patient and encouraging, making the process as comfortable as possible. Having my best friend and brother with me was helpful, but the overall environment was just right. The tattoo took about three hours, including a few small breaks, and my brother even got a couple of piercings while we were there. It was quite the experience! Even after the tattoo was completed, the customer service was excellent. When I noticed a minor issue with the bandage after leaving, the shop promptly had me return and resolved it--no questions asked. Throughout the healing process, they were just a phone call away, always happy to answer any questions I had as a first-timer. Reflecting on my first tattoo, I realize I went a bit bigger than planned, but I have no regrets. The size, placement, and intricate details all came together perfectly for me. The Mad Tatter is now my preferred shop for both tattoos and piercings, and I highly recommend them. I even have a few projects in mind. In fact, I've already sent friends their way, and one is currently working on a major piercing project with the Rabbit McPiercer! I get gel polish on my natural nails, which has consistently been $30 including tip (which is consistent with their $21-$26 price range for that service). Today, I did expect a slightly higher charge since I had my cuticles trimmed, which would be considered "Gel + Manicure," & based on the posted pricing, should have brought the total to approximately $36, plus tip. Instead, I was charged $43. When I asked why, I was told the $7 unaccounted for was a charge for "gel polish removal." This was surprising and frustrating, as polish removal is something that has been done at every visit without an additional charge and is generally considered a standard part of gel services. I would like to point out that the website does not list a base price for regular polish, but the charge for $62.99 on my account was for the basic pedicure with regular polish + gel polish on my natural nails, including "polish remover." There isn't even a price listed online for the basic pedicure. Additionally, I'd like to note that the charge on November 16th for $30 included removal of my fake nails that I had for my wedding on November 1st. So why didn't I get charged for that? I understand prices can change, but unexpected add-ons for services that have never been charged before make it difficult to trust the pricing, and the people. A regular gel manicure should not total $43, and clearer, more consistent pricing would go a long way. I wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes that you understand that us common folk do notice when you up charge for bogus things. I don't want anything from you, I won't be back to this salon, just as I won't be back to my previous salon because I believe in honest business practices.
