I found a used wrecker posted by Truckmax on the commercial truck trader website. I contacted Warren Kelly who was listed as the contact person on the ad. When I contacted him I referenced the ad online. He pulled up the info on the truck and told me that it was a really good truck that they had taken it trade in. He said once they took it trade in they soon realized the engine needed to be rebuilt, but it would come with all the documentation of the rebuild. I looked at this as a positive. After going over everything I with Warren I told him I wanted the truck. I explained that I live in Austin, TX so that I would fly in and drive the truck home (which is 1,300 plus miles). While at the airport Thursday night I'm looking online still and I notice Truckmax has another 11' International tow truck for sale. Warren had told me that they only had one 11' International for sale. I texting making sure we are talking about the same truck and he advised that they had it posted twice to the same site. In the original ad I saw there were 26 pictures posted. In the more recent ad there were 4 pictures posted, 2 of the back and 2 of the interior. I should've not gotten on the plane at this point. I showed up at the dealership Friday morning and was greeted by Warren saying don't let the looks of the truck scare you it's a little dirty (understatement of the year). He proceeds to explain that they sold the truck and the engine quit on the previous buyer so they traded in on a new one. None of this was previously mentioned. When we get to the truck it is filthy with decals all over it. There is a mechanic in the truck with the dash cover pulled off with wires hanging out of the dash. Warren tells me he is putting a module in it??? In the pictures online the truck had no decals and 14k less miles than what was currently on the truck. The gauge cover was busted which it wasn't like that in the pictures on the ad. Warren and Truckmax completely misrepresented this truck. The mechanic got the truck back together and I went on a test drive with Warren for my own amusement at this point. Halfway through the test drive the a/c quit blowing surprise, surprise. This thing didn't make it 10 minutes from the dealership before something broke. I'm certain I would've never made it home in this truck. I did not receive so much as an I'm sorry. Unless you live right around the corner, like being lied to, like wasting your time, or like wasting your money steer clear of this establishment. read more
