Below is a copy of the e-mail I sent to Tru Street
Dear Sirs,
As an extremely frequent writer on Trip Advisor, we love trying new restaurants and writing about them. So on visiting the Trafford Centre last night we came across Tru Street. Whilst looking at your menu, two members of staff asked if we needed any help, which was nice.
Julie is allergic to peppers, the red and green variety. The gentleman said that it would not be a problem and he would ensure that the chef new to exclude any peppers from our dishes.
So we decided to try Tru Street out. We asked if the rose and/or white wines were dry. The waitress did not know, but she went to find out. She then came back and said that the rose' wine was not dry but she did not know about the white. She then found out that it was Sauvignon Blanc, which is generally dry, so we ordered that. We also ordered 6 small meals (2 Hawkers) and the curly salt and pepper chips. Twenty minutes later and we had not received our wine.
When it eventually came, the waiter apologised for the delay. He apologised for the glasses as they were warm and they were gin glasses. He apologised that the white wine was warm as none had been put in the fridge. And he finally apologised for the amount of apologies that he had to make. He did everything that he could. The food arrived shortly afterwards. THREE of the dishes CONTAINED PEPPERS. YES, the very items mentioned to both the waitress Ellie and the gentleman we first met. Are you trying to send people to Hospital. SHE IS ALLERGIC. Do people not realise that people who are allergic to certain foods can actually die from those reactions! Ellie removed ONE dish, completely oblivious to the other two dishes that still contained peppers. Shredded beef with PEPPERS and the Curly fries with PEPPERS remained
on our table. Perhaps as a reminder of how close death can be to us all.
As a consequence Julie just picked at the food and I was not in the mood to enjoy my food.
Warm wine and food that would have put Julie in hospital are hardly the recipe for a nice evening.
The final insult came with the bill. No discount for the warm wine, food having to be returned and re sent due to one dish containing peppers. Or two other dishes containing peppers. Or for the waiting around. Not even this. But a 10% service charge of £5.80. I presume that the service charge is somewhere on the menu, but we did not see it. Not sure even if there is a manager of this establishment.
Total bill £63.77
The one redeeming factor is that we avoided A&E and got home safely, despite the efforts that your restaurant made to completely ruin our evening. read more
