Clean and Stylish Lobby, But the Room Disappointed We stayed here during a regular pass through Terrell, hoping this hotel would be an upgrade from the one we previously used. At first glance, it seemed promising - the location is great, the parking felt safe, and the lobby was very clean and modern, with a nice "new age" look. Unfortunately, the room didn't live up to the first impression. It was tiny, even for two people. The bed was incredibly hard, and worse - it didn't fit the oversized frame it was on. As I showed in the photos I uploaded, I hit my shin badly on the bed frame, drew blood, and it hurt like heck. When I went downstairs to show the clerk, she offered no help at all - not even a bandage. The room also lacked a microwave, which was a letdown. And oddly, my keycard stopped working around 9:50 a.m., just before checkout. We travel through this area 3-4 times a year, and while this place was cleaner than our last spot, I've never been injured at the other hotel. Next time, I'll be looking for a room with more space - and a safer layout. read more

We needed to stay in Terrell for a night while visiting family and this place was great. Affordable, clean, pet friendly, available/polite team members. My husband and I appreciated the water bottle refill station next to the ice machine as we always have our reusable water jugs with us. This hotel is right across from a humongous Buc-ee's which was perfect for filling up the tank and grabbing food/snacks before getting on the road. read more

Modern and clean design! Great for families with kids as there is an outdoor pool, a pool table, large connect four game, and board games (ask the front attendant for options on the games). There are a lot of fun and unique seating options to chat with friends or enjoy breakfast. There are also tons of charging ports all over if you need to get some work done and don't want to be stuck in your room. Location is great. It's located off I20 and is walking distance to Buc-ee's. There are many other options around for food, coffee, treats, shopping, etc. Some examples are Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Chick-fil-A, Taco Cabana, Raising Cane's, Olive Garden, Chili's, Mod Pizza, Texas Roadhouse, Tanger Outlet, Marshall's, Beall's, & lots more. There is a movie theater across the way also but I doubt you'll need it. Tru offers free Showtime & allows for you to log into your Netflix to watch on their big screen with great sound tv. The way the room is set up, I almost thought we had surround sound. I love the big clear windows to look out and watch the sunset or sunrise. The rooms are great. Pillows range from smooshy to firm for your liking. The bed was comfortable. I really enjoyed all the cute sayings along with the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and hand soap. Just give them a little squeeze to get what you need. I love the walk-in shower. However be sure to face the shower head away from you when starting the water up so you don't get a wet wake up call before you are ready. There's a bar yo hold onto but also a little raised lip to put your foot on to help with shaving your legs or washing your legs and feet. Very nice. Love the extra thoughtfulness. I myself am never big on hotel breakfast. For a simple, quick bite before heading out you can't go wrong. Kids will love the mini pancakes and they have lots of fun topping options. Same for the oatmeal-lots of fun toppings. Boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, muffins, scrambled eggs (they were out at 8:45 and never refilled them -breakfast on weekends goes until 9:30), chicken apple sausage, oranges, bananas, etc. The juice options were fun! See my pictures for the flavors. There is coffee 24/7 or so they boast. I only had it in the morning so I can't attest to the truth of that. The most impressive thing to me was the gym. I was only there an evening and traveled light so no workout for me but I want to come back just for their gym. Wow! It looks tiny and with just a few machines. Once you walk in and turn the corner you have a TRX like gym mounts, bars for balance (think ballet bar), bosu ball, large workout balls, rollers, weights, peloton bike, treadmills, elliptical, etc. I say WOW again! The coolest thing was the little touch tv screen in there. You could start a workout video and it will walk you through a workout! How neat and what a brilliant idea! We reserved a wedding block at Tru by Hilton in Terrell. It was located close to our son's wedding venue. Everything was great. We reserved their collaboration room for wedding guests to hang out in, the front desk passed out welcome bags for us, everything went smoothly with busses that we had arranged to transport wedding guests, breakfast was provided every morning and the lobby had lots of fun games and spaces for guests to hangout in and socialize. It was great working with Cedric, Jill and Neftali. read more

Loved this, so I signed up for Hilton Honors. We stopped to spend the night next to a Buc-ee's and found this next Door. Younger style for sure. Pool table in lobby! Room was nice , great shower. Very clean with nice service. One thing to remember , the soap dispenser takes only a very Small squeeze......lol We had never heard of this before but will be sure to remember on our next trip. read more

We've stayed in a lot of rooms and felt the effort Hilton puts in making this stay great at a reasonable rate. Very jovial guy at the front desk. Room color coordinated wall paper, lots of towels/wash cloths, squeeze shampoo/hand soap, snacks and drinks available for purchase, they even had a pool table and workout room. The TV was huge - we felt like we were in a theater. This location is across from dozens of restaurants. Entrance is easiest if u go behind Bucees... we got lost a couple times. What a nightmare and horrible experience!! We have stayed at a lot of Hilton properties and this had to be the worst experience ever! Where do I start! My husband goes to check in an we reserved 2 rooms. At first they could only find 1 room reserved an after about 10min finally found the other. Thank Goodness! We get into the room which is basic and small and realize there is very little insulation between floors and rooms. The whole night the upstairs guest were banging feet and running walking back and forth above us. We called the desk to complain as we had to be up at 5am to get on the road and this was going on from 9:00 to 10:30 when he called. Once he called it stopped but you could tell they were mad because the pounding of feet from above came to make a statement. No need in complaining again it would just get worse. Seriously you're mad because we want sleep. Then on top of that there wasn't much left for breakfast the next morning at 7am. Needless to say we got very little sleep. The one good thing about this place is the location. There are plenty of places around to eat, walk and shop. If you do stay here I recommend a 3rd floor room!!! Other than that, we will never be staying a Tru hotel again. read more

Loved this place! I went to the First Monday Market & Trade days in Canton, TX, and the room rates were so overpriced, that I looked out a little further. I found this great place in TERRELL, about 30 miles away. Clean, comfy and a free breakfast to boot! Customer service was great too! Very friendly & responsive staff. Hilton is cool because you can check in and out on your phone & also use your phone for the room key. I love bypassing the check in lines! read more

Excellent customer service in centrally located front desk in the massive, modern lobby. We stayed two nights and had the opportunity to witness staff / managers interacting with each other -- was inspiring watching the welcoming demeanor and genuine family-like relationships exhibited. The rooms were clean and also modern -- designed with a nod to IKEA. Good value on price that includes a very robust breakfast assortment of self-serve hot/cold offerings including fruit and juices. The vast lobby area is divided into colorful sections with comfortable seating & gatherings spaces including an adult play area with pool table. An outdoor pool is in a secure area. The hotel is built among a group of other brand hotels near a massive regional lifestyle center with shops and restaurants and multi-theater complex. I would definitely stay here again! read more

This is an expensive nightmare. We checked in 24 hours in advance and picked our room. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready. I can overlook that, because of unforeseen staffing issues. Reception put us in a room that we would never select for ourselves. The toilet would not flush. There is no insulation between rooms, and we heard loud television and people all night. It was a nightmare with no sleep, and at this point, Hilton is losing a Hilton Honors customer. Was NOT worth the $175 for a crappy room. read more

would've given it four stars had it not been for the reservation issue what went well ? the pool , fitness room, TV, comfortable beds and pillows, clean , lg mirror. 2 Queen beds rm. small, with tiny desk, no storage , ironing board out in the in plain sight. had to call the desk for excessive noise, room above , which Did subside lots of good eating places and shopping nearby , short walk, to Buckies'( SP?) Maybe a systemwide issue : The reservation made online through the Hilton Honors app. None of that was "communicated "to the hotel when I got there. I received confirmations of my request Via email. (for connecting rooms.) when I arrived, the 2 rooms were on different floors, despite my specific room requests that were sent the day of my reservation asking me to pick my rooms if I wanted after check-in, I was about to walk to room and then I noticed location on room keys , and the guy did change rooms next to each other, but not connecting , so I let it go. I did not enjoy the Tru hotel by Hilton. We were two women, rooming/staying while attending a 3 day course. This hotel did not have a closet or drawers. No place to store our clothes, etc. the hanging rack was in the way of the shelf on top of the refrigerator. This style of room might be ok for some, but not for us. Trying to get clothes out of our suitcases for four days (and the suitcases had to be on the floor) was miserable. Not having a coffee pot in the room was nuts. Probably never staying in this type of hotel ever again. The clerk working in the morning was almost non-there. Toaster not working - oh well.... No plastic knives for jelly/cream cheese, sorry. It was really miserable. The hotel was clean though and the night clerk, I think Stephanie, was really nice. The price was ok. Other than these last items, this hotel was not worth it! read more

Wow, this place is awful. staff was outrageously rude inconsistent and absolutely inconsiderate. one staff member escalated a discussion into a screaming match. I could not speak to her. all she said was : "stop yelling at me" even though I was communicating to my son ( who has Aspergers) that was near the elevator and I was far away from him. she called the police, and I called them on her too. The police gave me written warning to not trespass on the property, so i cancelled my multiple reservations, got a receipt that equaled zero dollars an went to another hotel. two weeks later i got a bill on my amex for the full charge. spoke to the manager and she said that because i left after the late checkout i was charge in full. so how can i stay when the police gave me a no trespassing order. going to take this to small claims court and get my $312.82 back plus expenses. there is a la Quinta next door that does not serve non trespassing orders. Read the other reviews.. I'm not surprised this place is unprofessional. I think that because was discriminated against because I am a man. No one would let me talk. read more

I worked here for about 3 weeks & it was really nice working here Until I started getting mistreated by The manager there named Ashley she was very nice the first week by the second week she had started to talking to me disrespectfully Infront of customers, I respectfully would respond back even after she would make me redo a whole reservation Infront of a customer & She would talk to me very rude Infront of customers , When I had already learned most of the system & I was told I was going to be tested to see if I was able to keep the job . By the third week I was told I was fired with out no explanation , They didn't even mind In testing me . I did not get a two week notice that I was going to get fired & I had texted the main Manager Ms.Jill begging for the job & I did not get no respond back & it upset me because I not once disrespectful to my ex managers not once & for them to treat me less then . Later on after I was told I was fired I got a "No Caller ID " call & for me just to find out it was Ms. Ashely calling to argue with me after she had already told me " I honestly could care less " on what I had to say to her after she was speaking bad about the main manager "Ms.Jill" She continued to call after I told her I wasn't going to take her disrespectful attitude towards me . I do not recommend this place to apply to , They will not even mind to testing you on the system . Every 2/3 weeks they have new employees because they expect you to know everything on the system by the second week of training & it is not fair for people who are in need of a job . read more

Management and customer service severely lacks here! Due to a house fire we chose this hotel to stay at so our house could be repaired. My insurance was paying $8100 a month for 2 rooms for us and our children and the manager verbatim to my mother stated she didn't need our money and we could go somewhere else. From the first check in they lacked customer service. But we were already here so we chose to stay. Someone at the front told my son he could use a cart for our stay since space is limited here and no closets so he was using one and we went out of town for a already planned event and was called and told we needed to bring the cart down i explained we weren't there but when we get back i would bring it down they insisted they take my sons belongings off of the cart and lay it all on bed mind you my son is autistic and very ocd and does not like his things touched so she agreed to wait. Friday when we arrived i helped him take his stuff off and took the cart down and made sure the staff saw me put it back and told them to make sure to let Jill know they said okay. So come Saturday 6:55 am i am receiving a call to the room being woke up on my day off asking about said cart. Then i had family come visit us since you know we don't have a home right now and we did a little get together by the pool for my daughters birthday and cleaned before hand and after had minimal food so we didn't have plates etc and a cookie instead of cake and 3 of her friends and the manager Jill was so unprofessional and so racist because as soon as my daughters black friend showed up it was a huge issue asked when will we be wrapping this up and this is considered a family reunion and a school of kids and that the amenities are for paying guests and if we want family to visit we need to rent the meeting room and let me add it's April and the pool was freezing and nobody was trying to come in the area and if they had there was still plenty of room. She proceeded to say to my mom who made the statement she could have stayed next door but chose here how she didn't need us or our money and could leave and go stay there. And she constantly kept saying she was watching us and we needed to hurry because the amenities were for paying guests. I thought we were since $8100 a month is quite a lot of money. She has made it feel uncomfortable here since day one like kids are not welcome here and they don't support families and visitors. They are beyond rude and unprofessional. Called another hotel asking if we could have visitors family and get togethers and they said absolutely and they hear the complaints from this hotel all the time. Called corporate and put a complaint in and now we are being kicked out of here. Beware do not use this hotel do not stay here! The pictures our of the clean up of after our hang out. First time staying in a Tru by Hilton and I'm quite impressed. I'm a member of Hilton Honors and have stayed mostly at Hilton Garden Inn or Hampton Inn. We had spent most of the day traveling by car so I was really tired when we arrived to check in after 10:00 pm. Check in was quick and the room was immaculate. COVID-19 has everyone concerned about cleanliness and I felt very comfortable staying here. Even the remote had been sanitized. Bathroom spacious and plenty of room to place your luggage. There is not a closet but that's a non issue for me. Love the fact there is no carpet in the rooms. Comfortable bed and soft linens. Towels are soft and plush. Large TV and easy to use remote. Plenty of sockets to plug in your devices. I would definitely stay here again. read more

This hotel runs more off shady and petty business practices than "Tru" customer service. I booked through Booking dot com and followed all the protocols for cancellation and Tru by Hilton Terrell front desk said they did not receive email yesterday. Booking dot com provided proof that cancellation was sent well in advance and Chastity said that her manager rejected it. I asked to talk to her manager and she said she was the manager. At this point I'm thinking "wow, is she doing this on purpose to get a reaction?" She also said i was suppose to call not email the hotel directly for cancellations when earlier she said i needed to contact Booking for com for cancellation. . .Clear as mud! She said her manager made the decision so i ask to speak to the manager making decisions. She then says she is the manager. Wait what? Okay, well may I speak to someone that can help me? No she says because she is the manager. Where is the accountability here? I have screen shot of request for cancellation from yesterday(2 days before reservation) from Booking dot com and still no one cares. The wedding I was suppose to attend was cancelled due to Corona and I lost my job due to these troubling times and this place decides to pull one on me. Reservation is for April 17th(tomorrow). I spoke to Steve later this evening and he said he was in charge but there was nothing he could do. Steve seemed pretty testy on the phone saying "yeah i talked to Chastity" (with attitude like he was annoyed) seriously? This place "Tru"-ly doesn't feel like a branch of Hilton. So who's really in charge? I still don't know. Front desk is all smoke and mirrors. These people truly don't care for the proof of emails for consideration. He mentioned possibly talking to owner by the name of Sunny or calling Corporate at Hilton. Going to try to get someone reasonable with a sense of fairness, common sense and customer service on the phone tomorrow. This situation is just deplorable being that I initiated cancellation process within the indicated policy. I expected more from Hilton. Will keep everyone posted. read more

My visit left much to be desired with Covid. On Saturday night, I sat down at a table with my sister and her husband to eat some food we picked up. We took our face masks off to eat and when we were finished, we were reminded that we needed to have our masks on. No problem, the lady at the front desk was right. On Sunday morning, we went down to eat our boxed breakfast and there was a large group who felt no mask was required. I questioned the person at the front desk and was told there were too many people without masks and that he couldn't tell them all. Excuse me? It is posted, why can't he remind them of the policy? I believe it is required in Texas. They were even without masks getting their box and opening them up to toast their bagel. Stay somewhere else if you are expecting the hotel to follow Covid policies. read more
