Room shots to show how small and crowded it is

Highly disappointed. This is in the Hilton brand?!?! Too small room, uncomfortable chair and bed. Only SHOWERS even if the website has tub/ showers. The breakfast bar is below average so didn't use it the 2nd morning. If you don't watch movies or sports, good luck since choices are limited. No weather channel even. No freezer in fridge. Minimal items, must be aimed at a younger demographics that haven't experienced lots of other better places. Does have gym and pool, but only has ice machine on first floor and get the bucket without a top. Glad my stay wasn't on my dime.

If you are a day over 50, DO NOT STAY HERE! This is a hotel for The Cool Kids. Bright colors and sleek, modern furniture abound. My first clue was the desk clerk. He was wearing jeans and a tshirt. The tshirt had cute saying about the hotel. The pool looked nice but there were several sports teams staying there so it was busy with a lot of teenagers. The bed was really comfortable. All of the furniture was comfortable. However the chair had a little tray on it for, well, I don't know what it was for but it was tipped forward so it was unusable. Breakfast during Covid was pathetic. Cereal. The closets were powder coated pipes. There were several hooks for clothing and stuff. Small fridge an ironing board nice additions. For $150 I would not stay at Tru again.

This was a unique experience so by that measure I guess Hilton is getting what they set out for. Put as simply as possible, if you pack as many stereotypes about what (supposely) makes millennials happy about freedom/happiness/life and mix in a GIANT heaping bowl of corporate wokeness marketing then you have Tru by Hilton. As a GenXer, it made me laugh. I'm not sure if Hilton is attempting to be intentionally ironic here or if this is seriously what passes for a "your stay, your way!" hotel. The marketing research must know something...but if you are used to a Hampton for example, then Tru is going to feel as a bit of a shock to your system. Staff was wearing T shirts that say "Check into Different" and "Disrupt with a Smile". AYFKM Hilton??? That should be the type of tosh on the internal marketing memos and C-suite Powerpoints, not the attire of the staff! "Hey look at us, we're disrupting" is the exact type of crap I want to get AWAY from on vacation, not be reminded of. I can see it is different, not advanced calculus here. Now all that said, it has echoes of the Hilton brand. Everything is bright and colors like teal and yellow are prevalent, they have that gray color laminate floor like you see everywhere at Home Depot. Minimalist furnishings for the rooms and lobby (and halls) and weird angles and chairs are everywhere. If you need to charge 50 mobile phones at once, stop by the lobby since you are in luck! Things like a salt water pool and a "mood" knob for controlling the music volume, filtered water dispenser with "number of trees saved" counter (or something like that) and a pool table in the lobby are quite different. The weight room was really good, diverse equipment and open 24 hours (nice touch). They fold towels in the lobby and the front desk looks like the Hudson News counter at the airport. Breakfast is what you have come to expect for the Hilton brand. Overall...I get it, I really do. Have to stay relevant in the corporate hotel biz (what with the VRBO and Airbnbs out there). It just all feels soooooo forced. But the stay was fine and the staff was nice. We would stay here again as a change of pace.

The room was spotless, there was a great heated pool, a pool table, and a very generous lobby in which we could gather with our group.

Well managed. Super great staff. That's an important reason we stay only at Hilton. Yes, it's an older building. It's Fort Wayne, Indiana, folks. There are no new buildings. This is clearly the best hotel if you're staying in town. That said, it is true, I expect Hilton to invest in this property to maintain brand standard. There is no better alternative nearby, but hurry up and step it up. The building is old and musty, and Hilton knows it. We stayed in the 1 bed-1bath King Suite and it's a lovely layout. Great furniture. Very clean. Once in the room, it's a Hilton Hampton Inn. Until in the room, it's Fort Wayne. The staff accommodated my family's every need. The lobby is lovely for late night work while the family sleeps and the pool is super kid friendly. Plus, nice breakfast area. I do think Hilton knows it's time to invest in the infrastructure updates. Until then, give the staff a raise. Big time. Management, front desk, and maids. Your people are making Hilton look good in an old facility. It speaks volumes for Hilton's quality of management, Conrad Hilton would be pissed about the corporate's inattention to the need for an update. Conrad would also give each of these staff members a free vacation for making him look good. I expect Hilton to act accordingly. Veritas! Harvard '24. Thanks from the family.

Did you know: The founder of Vera Bradley -- the brand behind those ubiquitous flowered, quilted…read morebags you see slung on every Hoosier woman's shoulders -- created a hotel? Technically, it was co-created by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard of Vera Bradley, and also Provenance Hotels, known for their boutique hotels. I guess it makes sense to have a Vera Bradley-themed hotel in Fort Wayne, because Vera Bradley's headquarters are in Fort Wayne. Don't tell Vera (or Barbara), but I find VB purses and bags a little dowdy and old-fashioned, and I thought I would step into The Bradley and be greeted with a hotel decked out in the same frumpy aesthetic. But no! The hotel is sleek and modern, yet there are subtle details that feel touched by Vera Bradley's influence. For instance, my room had pops of coordinating colors and patterns mixing together to create a homey but chic look. The whole hotel is like that, really. They could have gone really heavy-handed with the floral prints in this hotel, but they restrained themselves, and the hotel is all the better for it. Beyond the aesthetics, this cute hotel has nine specially designed suites, a rotating art gallery and two restaurants, including a rooftop bar. I didn't get to check out the restaurants or bar, but I definitely am the next time I stay here. (And there will be a next time!) A quick head's up for people thinking of staying here with kids. Kids are absolutely welcome here, but The Bradley doesn't really have the things that a parent and kids might want, like a pool and free breakfast. The Bradley would make a great getaway for adults-only stays! One small thing that vexed me during my stay was that I couldn't take the stairs to go up to my room, which was on the second floor. There are emergency stairs on each floor that go down, but you can't go up them because they are locked on the lobby floor, and unless you enter a code, which only the people who work there know, you can't open the stairs door. My personal ethos is to take the stairs for anything less than four flights, so it really perturbed me to have to use the elevator to go up and down a single floor. But I had no choice! They have an OK fitness center here, with a couple of treadmills and one elliptical, which blessedly was free every time I visited the fitness center. There are also some free weights and cold towels, which were refreshing. One thing to keep in mind is that valet parking is the default. I am a cheapo and don't generally like to use valet, but the only other option was a public lot a couple of blocks away, and that was only slightly less expensive than just doing valet. So I just did valet. For the most part, the valet attendants were quick to get my vehicle, except for check-out morning, when it felt like everyone was waiting for their vehicles at the same time. The Bradley is located right in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, and it within easy waling distance to what seems like everything, including The Landing, a historic district that has multiple independent shops and restaurants.

Bedroom was a normal size and the beds were really comfortable. Bathroom was nice too and shower pressure was great and it got hot very quickly. The restaurant downstairs was great too, bartender is awesome, had dinner there one night and breakfast each morning. Food was pretty good! Not overly priced either. It's in a great location where you can walk to lots of restaurants! Valet was always friendly, only one afternoon I couldn't park so I ended up circling for a while. The rooftop bar is cute. Gym was small but had everything you needed with nice equipment. Overall I really enjoyed my stay!

The check-in counter is located across from the restaurant and next to the lounge area. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The interior is quite spacious, with ample seating. This location was convenient for a few hours. The price was reasonable with $15 charge for self-parking. The elevator was clean until you walked out onto the floor, which had a weird smell. The room was decent, but the bed and pillow quality were subpar. The room was very dusty, including the counter, bedside table, and lamp. But it was a quick turnaround for me. In the wee hours of the night, the lobby was my refuge (wonderfully eclectic playlist!) The staff was always professional and courteous. I wish I could remember their names, but props to the delightful young man who checked us in and the bartender who served us and laughed at our Dad-jokes. The next day, while I was going here and there, well after I had checked out, no matter who it was, I was reassured that I was welcome back to get some water, use the restroom, borrow a pen, ask for attraction recommendations etc. I could probably nitpick certain things, but the people - that's what it's all about. It wasn't a bad stay at all! Occupying what used to be a Comfort Inn, Spark is a pretty nice stay. While you can tell the facility is aged, the Hilton update gives it a fresh look/new life with brighter colors and updated furnishings. We selected a room that was adjacent to a stairwell. It's always a gamble because -- people -- but from what we could tell by the site map, those rooms tend to be bigger. Our room was easily 50% larger than most room, with the addition of a sizable closet space. The furnishings are definitely new, but look rather minimal in our room due to its larger size. The pivoting work space is nice, but the hassock is far too short to work on it for any length of time. I have to wonder if anyone had occupied this particular room at all because the refrigerator wasn't plugged in. We had to crawl on the floor to find the plug to plug it into the wall. The only thing that was missing was a clock. There is no clock in the room. Not that that's a big thing because any person has one or two clocks on them at any time anyway. I've seen a number of reviews complain about the free breakfast. I honestly didn't have a problem with it at all. There are bagels, breads, muffins, oatmeal, and cereals along with fresh fruit and some juices. It's a budget facility. You're not going to get omelets or made-to-order pancakes. Adjust your expectations. The staff we interacted with was great and helpful. Instead of vending machines there's a small snack/sundry shop if you get the late night need-to-eat. I am 100% satisfied with our stay. We saved some money and were located near just about anything we'd need.

But for about 40-50 bucks less per nite, it's a compromise I was willing to make. A little noisier than most places. You could hear people talking and laughing in nearby rooms, doors slamming and kids running wild in the hallway. But this was probably more due to inconsiderate patrons than anything else. Bed was very comfortable. No noisy A/C --once I went to bed (11PM) it was quiet. As mentioned, it is just a Continental breakfast (no scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, meat or pancakes) but what they had was enough for me--bagels, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, apples, bananas, juice and coffee. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay and a pretty good bang for the buck.
