She even gave us permission to invite the grandparents to breakfast! Without charging us! We didn't know what time of night we'd get in, so she said she'd leave directions on the door. We didn't have to worry about being locked out. We found our room, which was full of antiques. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. Most B&Bs don't have spacious rooms because they are in old homes, and this was no exception. But it was just fine for the two of us. We loved the room. The only thing that we didn't like was the window air conditioning, again a throwback to the historic building. It was a little noisy. But the inn was pretty quiet overall. We didn't hear the neighbors. The breakfast was really good! I wasn't expecting that much because we were told that it was fruit, cheese and 3 types of baked goods. It was very filling though. We started with a fruit cup. The baked goods were croissants, a breakfast bread (not sure of the kind), and coffee cake. Fresh and delicious. There was OJ, juice and tea. Also, cereal. The cheese was also yummy. I had a lot of it! Ha! They eat family style here, so be ready to mingle with other guests. Breakfast is served until 10, which is nice if you want to sleep in. Did I mention the great price of this place? I'm still surprised for what we got!! If you're looking for a charming place with friendly owners & workers and a yummy breakfast, make a reservation! My fiance's family said they are going to stay here now whenever they visit because it's not much more than the guest room at the retirement community and has much more charm plus breakfast. There isn't much in the immediate area except for another motel that used to be a Motel 6 but is now a "Markle 6". There is a gas station across the street, and two restaurants next door. If you or someone in your company has talents or traits that delve into the paranormal, this might not be the area for you. A major cemetery lies directly across the street. Just a note. The check-in was incredibly easy and delightful. I was immediately met by a lady at the counter that was as polite and gentle as she could possibly be, and was eager to help me get settled in. The room is possibly what you would expect from an independent hotel making their mark on the area. Nothing immensely special, but also nothing left out. It is perfect for a workcation, passing through, or a night away. Heritage Inn has a cable TV setup with minimal channels on a flat screen TV that is wall mounted high enough that children cannot get to it. We experienced good reception and a clear picture. The wifi is free and comes with the price of the room. There is no access screen, it is open access. The speeds ran at ~70%, but dropped out on at least 4 occasions, rather slow for anything such as streaming, but certainly not the worst I have experienced as of late. The bed was comfortable and firm, as this appears to be a rather recently instituted hotel, or they have been a gem in hiding for some time. I am really not certain about the history of the lodge. Amenities are the typical mini fridge and 750W microwave but to our disdain, our coffee maker did not operate even when plugged into multiple outlets. As we were uncertain what stores would have been relatively close by, we ate at Vinatellis which is located next door, co-joined with a Dairy Queen that we did not visit due to the poor reviews. There is a cemetery across the street, as I stated before and while this would not normally be an issue to myself typically, there was one in our party with certain sensitivities, and within an hour the fire alarm went off, but only in our room, and didn't register up front. I stood with the front desk as she tried to turn it off, but there was nothing registering to turn off. Next, the door locks reset themselves and we had to get new magnetic cards. The remote worked for about five minutes, then we had to get new remote batteries. The desk chair back was broken and the door lock on top was broken off completely as if the room had literally been broken into. Those had nothing to do with the above-mentioned things, they were pre-existing. So do a safety check on your room when you enter. The morning crew is NOT the afternoon lady we met before. They did not have the cordial attitude and appeared to certainly not be morning people. Grumpy is probably how I would describe them. A gas station with a Subway is also directly across the street and is probably open until about 11 PM if I had to guess. I was not out late, so I do not know if they are 24 hours or not. If there was a 24-hour service on the exit, that would be it. Heritage Inn is a good stop for travellers and anyone that needs a place to just be quiet and room-bound for a while. It is an oasis on a long stretch of highway.

Even thought they don't have an attendee during the night they do have an emergency number to call we didn't need the number at all. Down fall we went to the bathroom to take a shower and noticed that on the back of door their was some blue sprayed on the door (tooth paste maybe) along with the outside of the tub base had stuff on it that was brown. So we did have to clean the tub prior to using it. The water pressure is not the greatest but it did it's job. They don't have enough shampoo in the room for two people so make sure you ask for more or bring yours from home. Pricing: the price was great it was 1/2 the price we would of paid in Bluffton or Portland. But I would pay higher to have the bathrooms cleaner. At 10 am housekeeping knocked on the door to see if we needed anything or to remind us that check out is at 11am. Lol...When we went to leave the same attendant was working this time much friendlier. I cranked up the air conditioner and stayed warm under the covers and over slept! The fitness center was loaded with everything I needed for a complete workout and I took a swim in the pool. The pool was clean and warm and they provided pleanty of towels. In the morning I had eggs, toast and a homemade waffle for breakfast they also had cereal, oatmeal bagels, omlets muffins and loads of other things to eat. Stayed in a suite, with two queen beds and a living rook that had a fold out sofa bed. Hard living with two other people in such a small enclosed space. The hotel does offer suites with kitchen, alas they are few and hard to come by. I spent the time in one without one and had to eat out all the time. My stats were pleasant, considering all the above. The hotel breakfast room is large and comfortable. The hotel has an indoor heated pool which is a big plus! The staff also is the friendliest hotel staff I have ever dealt with. I would talk to them all the time. We would ask how we were all doing, where we were in our move. These are genuinely warm people and the best part of staying at this hotel. There are some weaknesses. The breakfast is unappetizing, and I usually avoided it.. even though it was included in my stay. It didn't taste bad... just didn't have taste... it was bland. The coffee is weak. The suites can also definitely be a little larger and they need updating. Some of the furniture seems to have seen much better days. You can also pick up a snack bag on the way out in the morning. Cons: Hotel is dated and in need of a remodel. I am told that a renovation is coming soon. The WiFi is good except you have to "renew" daily this is frustrating especially on an extended stay. Many hotels post Covid cut back in the customer service area not here!
