    Shopping!! My ticket!
    Nikiba J.

Here Today! Who charters a 56 passenger luxury motorcoach to go shopping? Fans of Vera Bradley, that's who! There's Dooney & Bourke (my personal favorite), Louis Vuitton, Prada, Versace ect and there's Vera Bradley! When I saw my trip ticket with Vera Bradley's name attached, I thought she was the person that charted the bus. We arrived at the coliseum and I'm still clueless. I could hear my passengers excitement... I'm still clueless. I asked the two ladies sitting up front, "Who is Vera Bradley?" All I heard was silence then gasps. One of them said "Yoouuuu don't know who Vera Bradley is?" AND they BOTH gave me a stank look as they rolled their eyes at me. The 2 women then jumped up and said "Right here would be fine." meaning they wanted to disembark the bus right there. I'm usually the first person off the bus so I can help them off if need be, but baebaaaa, those women didn't pay me no mind as I waited to get off the bus. They damn near knocked me back into my seat. Normally, someone will announce what time and where the bus will meet them....but not this time, they hurried into the colosseum. Usually, the bus leader would give me a ticket this time it was sat on the dash. Ok thennnn. So I go in and the shock of it all, see my pictures is what I saw. Women everywhere! Organize chaos! A nice host gave me a shopping bag AND map. Women, dragging bags of loot, holding 2 and 3 shopping bags! Wow! So as not to look outta place....shoots (Me too movement). I had to contain myself as "Me too." Started my shopping spree! I needed and purchased another large suite case, make up bag and toiletry bag. It was Vera Bradley simi-annual sale! As I'm walking around, one of my passengers asked me "I bet you know who Vera Bradley is now," as she hurried on lol...I don't be making these things up yall! I respected EVERYTHING was very organized! They had price scanners, people who immediately restocked and removed any misplaced items, the checkout lines moved fast, there was separate checkout lines for women that came alone, WE really appreciated the thoughtfulness that Vera put into the sale. I received 10% off due to being ONE of the bus drivers that brought in a load of shoppers. Here Today. There tomorrow!

This is a great location to see a concert/event! The parking is easy (I believe we paid $12 for the premium parking), and the entry process was seamless. There is a nice bar/restaurant located upstairs that most people aren't aware of so it's easy to get some drinks/eats before an event. The prices are high - but consistent with other venues.

Pre-game at the Coliseum, waiting for the home town Fort Wayne Komets to take the ice.

I recall, as a kid, laying on the floor in front of the 1980s cabinet stereo in our Utah living room and listening to Salt Lake Golden Eagles road games against their rival Fort Wayne Komets, and imagining the layout as the radio announcer described the fabled Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Well, my beloved Golden Eagles are long since gone, and the wrecking ball took down the old Salt Palace years ago, but Fort Wayne's War Memorial Coliseum still stands proudly and the Komets keep racking up seasons nearly 40 years since I first saw a Komets team play back in the 80s, and I finally got the chance to pay the Komets' old arena a visit. Though on a smaller scale, upon entering the arena I was somewhat reminded of the Detroit Red Wings' storied Joe Louis Arena, as the Coliseum has similar narrow concourses, a limited number of food vendors, and a kiosk style souvenir stand--the arena is simply too small for a team store. That said, there was a huge variety of Komets' gear available, and as a puck collector I appreciated the super-reasonable prices. However, the kiosk-style stand means you will likely be in for a wait if you are attempting to try on and/or purchase Komets' swag between periods. Inside the arena, the seating rows are very narrow, which is quite typical of older hockey barns, and thus you have very little leg room (a traveling companion had to sit on the row across from us so he could stretch out his surgically repaired knee into the aisle (which he did not need to do the night prior when we visited the ultimate modern hockey cathedral, Little Caesars Arena in Detroit). I would strongly suggest NOT sitting on the glass or in the single digit rows if you are on the sides of the ice (meaning, not seated behind either goaltender) as the sight lines into the corners were especially poor. Save some cash and pick a lower bowl double digit row--you'll see more of the on-ice action and be able to afford some extra Komets' paraphernalia. Overall, I loved the experience I had at the War Memorial Coliseum, though admittedly I'm an old school, nostalgic hockey guy. If you've never been, it is totally worth a visit to this historic arena built back in 1952 to see the Komets (who themselves are one of the top ten oldest tenured North American professional hockey teams playing under one name in the same city--only the NHL's original 6 and the Hershey Bears can claim a longer lived single-city lifespan). Go Komets!

Landmark review As a convention center, this place is relatively painless for parking and offers ample space for events. I am surprised by the multi functional space as I have been here for numerous events. For a work meeting, I would say the 2nd floor convention space is a bit on the dreary side, but this is made up for by the wonderful friendly staff and the food they catered was good as well. I also have been here for the home and garden show + disney on ice all on the same day. Parking is only 6 dollars in the main lot and 10 dollar in the preferred lot. It is cash only and for single entry which is disappointing. The actual convention halls are quite large and you never feel cramped. There is plenty of seating around in the outside hallway if you are tired of walking around. The actual sport arena area is multi function and get turn into a basketball court or the night we were there a ice skating rink. To be honest, there are really no bad seats in the house. Overall I am impressed and will be back for other events as well Hidden deal: Buy tickets at the box office, no service fee for tickets online. The only tip about this is be aware of what range of tickets you want as they don't let you pick seats like they do online. We accidentally got the cheapest tickets for disney on ice even though that is not what we wanted.

Great place! The staff were helpful and friendly. Great concert and an amazing experience all around.

Fort Wayne Roller Girls at the Colesium

I was here for a roller derby game against the local team, Fort Wayne Derby Girls. I was impressed with the size of the coliseum as they had multiple expo halls (as I accidentally walked into the wrong one). Because of the size it was a little confusing where to go and enter the building. My group had to go through a special door and it's not a common door for people to go through. Boy I wished I wasn't so directionally challenged. I'm sure they could have any type of event in the Fort Wayne area. The expo hall we were in was nice as it has a big set chairs on one side of the track, and big tables for the behind the scenes and stats people, a projected screen of the track, and plenty of crazy lights. It was quite a show. At the end of our game I went to get a beer, and unfortunately the selection was bare to none. For beer it was domestic taps and tall boys of PBR for $6...yikes! They could make you some basic cocktails and I believe they had a couple of wines to. Not that bad, but this beer lover wanted to try something local.

I have been to many concerts and events here. Always a great experience. We have our business events exclusively here this year. Parking is always easy to use. Staff makes things seamless. The food is always top notch whether it is for a concert or if it is for a business event. Kudos! I have also had great experience when purchasing tickets through a vendor or at the coliseum. The security is present but not an annoyance. It is amazing to see how they can adapt to extremely large events all the way down to a small company meeting.

She knows her flowers and the process to grow, cut and arrange them to meet your expectations. My wife and daughter meet at Black Ridge a couple times to discuss the brides ideas and develop a plan to meet her wants. Susan also held a final meeting a couple weeks prior to the wedding to make sure everyone was on the same page and agree on last minute things. On the big day Susan and Tom were right on time to deliver the flowers. They went right to work putting things in the right spot and cleaning up after themselves. Now for the flowers...my wife and daughter were over the top pleased with the freshness, color, arrangement and overall beauty of the designs. The brides bouquet was a perfect size and just beautiful. The bouquet held up through all the handling and toss. The table flowers were simple and attractive. They didn't detract from the social interactions by being over sized, wide spread or in your face. They just blended nicely. The lapel flowers were very attractive as the were designed to be simple, worn close/flat to the lapel and masculine looking. The design was very innovative and attractive plus simple to pin on. The wrist corsages were simple, not fluffy or dangling, and beautiful of course. The flower girls had very attractive flower rings that were easy to manage and secure on a 5-8 year olds head. Susan also created a pair of flower arrangements that were attached to the arch behind the minister. These flowers were artificial but you would never know it. They were very attractive and blended with all the other flowers and color schemes. I would definitely recommend Black Creek for your flower needs. Susan is very talented. She listens well and works passionately to make your ideas come to life. Her husband Tom is a wonderful helper and behind the scenes guy. You will find both Susan and Tom to be very professional, friendly and customer service oriented!

Same architect as the University of Saint Francis' Bass Mansion and The History Center both in Fort Wayne. Robert served as a 2 time state senator, assistant U.S. Commissioner for Indiana, huge investor in natural gas, (the reason Fort Wayne & even Chicago got natural gas when they did) and was a prominent lawyer. Clara helped form the first classes at the Fort Wayne Art School and was the co-founder of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. The couple was originally from the Muncie area but moved up here for business purposes. They were a very prominent couple during their years here in Fort Wayne. Not only did Clara leave her forever footsteps at the Art Museum, Robert's law firm is still going strong known as the Barrett-McNagny law firm serving the local area still today. They only had one child Bessie but unfortunately due to illness died at 11 months old. After Robert's death in 1901 the home was sold to William K. Noble who ran a lumber company that operated in 3 states. His family of 3 lived there for 22 years and sold the building for $50,000 to The Klaehn Funeral home. In 1935 the west side addition was added due to high demand. At this time funerals were no longer held in the residents home as they were done in the 1800s. Today there are over 14,000 square feet in this absolutely breathtaking mansion. No detail has gone unnoticed. It remained a funeral home for over 93 years. The staff was responsive to calls and emails when we needed information, making decisions and ironing out the final details. Union 12 facility is not inexpensive. However we feel like they gave us a very good value and the ultimate experience was excellent. I could use a lot of words to describe their facility. I have attached pictures you can review along with their web sites. Overall the facility, grounds and bridal suite were in very good repair and attractively designed. The facility is very welcoming and allows your guests to feel comfortable quickly. The outside seating area is so what small but can easily handle 200+ people. The covering is nice to help protect against the weather. The chairs are comfortable. They gave a couple arches that you can choose from for a back drop. The bridal suite is nice. It's not overly spacious. It could be uncomfortable if you have much more than 7-8 bridesmaids. The lower level has a nice kitchen to make your day long preparation more comfortable. The kitchen isn't stocked with utensils so bring your own. The upstairs is meant for groomsmen to get ready. This area is rather small and somewhat uncomfortable due to the low ceilings and small rooms. The facility grounds are very nice and welcoming. The fire put, pond lawn areas and seating areas are nice. The outdoor lighting is very attractive especially at night. There is a decent amount of parking. The signage on the road is very poor. It is easy to drive right past the facility if you aren't careful. The inside the facility is wide open. The balcony is easy to access as there are two staircases. The balcony is close to the head table area for good viewing. The bar is compact but strategically located. It can get pretty crowded at the bar area as this is where the staircase comes out. On this occasion our buffet line was near the bar as well. The side room has a fair amount of seating. People in the far back corner don't have a very good view of the head table area. The dance floor was in good condition. If you have a lot of tables you will need to take down tables to make enough space to dance. The bar service is very good. They had ample help to move drinks for our 200 people. They provide water and lemonade self serve containers. We purchase the package that provided beer, wine and vodka. This turned out to be sufficient for most all people. The bar staff was very friendly and efficient. Union 12 provided us the a coordinator for the whole day. Olivia did an outstanding job helping us all day long to get everything in the perfect place and the right time. There were three weddings/receptions going on at once during my friend's festivities - one of which was in the area that was supposed to be reserved for post-wedding photos opps for our crew leaving us dilly dallying in the parking lot for a half an hour before heading in. The facility itself was clean and basic in a convention center kind of way. However, it appeared that the outdoor space might have more character. Because there was so much going on within the space you could step to the door of one reception and hear the music of the other reception down the hall (perfect wedding crashing opportunity?). -Food: not too shabby! I'd highly recommend adding the green beans and carrots sides to your menu - I may or may not have went back for seconds. -This seems to be the perfect spot for those wanting to hit the whole shebang - bar, food, venue in one swipe. I am reviewing YOLO for their wedding services as well as Early Bird for their VIP package. These…read moreservices were rendered in July 2013, with contact starting in May/June 2012. I do not remember how I found YOLO, but when I did, I knew it was the place I wanted to have our wedding reception. The owners have taken the time to really make the space upper-class and trendy. I felt my guests were going to experience the best Fort Wayne had to offer. Kristen was our contact from day one and she was always on top of her game. She was there for me for months as I was debating if we should go to this spot or not, there for the 15 times I changed the menu and even there on my wedding day. As an owner, I was quite impressed with her for taking so much time and care into our day. Kristen was good with communication, especially as we became closer to our wedding date. She also was great in allowing us to come in early for setup. YOLO was a dream for me because I got a lot of features in one deal. Uplighting was included, I didn't have to search many places for a caterer (in-house), large space, linens/silverware/glassware/dishware included, color choices for linens... They were not very restrictive in what we could not do like other venues. We received a discount from the hotel across the street as well, which became our wedding hotel. I was happy with all that. And plus, the cost for YOLO was very reasonable. We were open with many people on how much we paid and they were shocked. YOLO worked with us on a payment plan and was flexible with us as we changed features, which impacted cost. I love they had a child's option, which brought down costs. As stated above, having a lot of flexibility was the reason I went with YOLO. We had to have Trolley's catering, but we were allowed to go with anyone for the rest. Trolley's was good and everything we had was great. You could tell Trolley's had a great relationship with YOLO and wanted to impress their clients. On the day of our wedding, our food was great and guests had only great things to say. Another thing that sets YOLO apart was the fact they have a nightclub attached to the venue. As a result, they had (not sure if this still applies now) packages that include your wedding reception and a discount on the nightclub package. We were able to get a VIP section for 50% off, a great deal. This was a major highlight of our wedding, as we had a morning service and lunch reception. We were happy to have a cost effective option where we and our guests could still party the night way. At Early Birds, we had a large section set aside for us with good barside service. I think we got more bottles and alcohol, then we expected. We were suppose to be in a VIP room within the club, but we were given an option to have an outside section... We choose outside as it was a beautiful July night. Again, YOLO being open with flexibility was great. There was not much to complain about with YOLO. When I had issues with them, I told them and they either told me how they would address it or why they could not do it. They are clear, at things blunt, but all and all fair. There were times when I felt communication could have been better, but I was such an early planning bride, I felt Kristen dealt with me the best that she could. If we had to do it again, I would still pick YOLO. They did a great job and we had a memorable wedding day. ***My only advise to couples considering this venue is 1) Being mindful if your photographer has done photos in dark settings. YOLO is dark with NO natural lighting. I liked this for our wedding, but had to be mindful to view the work of photographers that had worked in this setting. I think my photographer even went to YOLO to get a feel of the lighting. 2) Take down was not a part of the package, so make sure you plan accordingly or you/your wedding party will be completing this task.
