I have severe dental office anxiety from some horrible experiences, and I was thankful to see a friendly and professional front office followed by a kind and thorough dental hygienist. Dr Timothy Pfountz followed with a detailed explanation of my X-rays and discussed our plan for the replacement of some older fillings that my former dentist was monitoring. Horrible Experience - Completely Unorganized and Misleading…read more Tennessee Family Dental in Lebanon is by far the most unorganized and unprofessional place I've ever dealt with. My mother-in-law went in for oral surgery to have her teeth pulled, and right before the procedure, they suddenly came in and sprung a hidden fee on us for the laughing gas. This was never mentioned beforehand, not during scheduling, not during the consultation, nothing. Only right before surgery did they decide to bring it up. That is completely unacceptable and shows how disorganized and misleading their practice is. Patients should always know the full cost upfront, not be pressured with surprise charges right before surgery. If they can't even be transparent about something as basic as costs, how can anyone trust them with actual dental care? We will never return here, and I would strongly caution anyone considering this office to look elsewhere for a dentist that is honest, organized, and professional.

He told me my top teeth were fine…read more He sent me to his best friend for periodontal work on the bottom. They didn't check with insurance to be sure the perio exam would be covered. It was not covered. He sent me to Hendersonville for a root canal eval. That root canal was going to cost $1000. I went to a different dentist who found a cavity in one of my top teeth. New dentist has an entirely different treatment plan, saving me THOUSANDS of dollars. Please get a second opinion. If he tells you "I'd recommend this treatment to my mother", I question if he likes his mother.

Now it's my son's turn for his first round and I'm so glad we have the option of Benson Orthodontics now that we are in TN! We had NO IDEA just how terrible our previous orthodontist was until we started treatment here. We have felt welcome from the moment we called to make our first appointment. Everyone is so friendly. Dr. Benson was very informative when explaining the treatment my son would need, and Rhonda is fantastic at explaining and working with you to figure out the financial aspect of it all. The welcoming environment is just the tip of the iceberg. We were greeted with a front row parking spot marked with my son's name and balloons for his first appointment, which made him feel a little less nervous. The young lady who placed his brackets and wires talked him through what she was doing, while she was doing it, so he wasn't so anxious. I love that I'm able to sit in the treatment area with him and that they have a brushing station and video games nearby, so I don't have to worry about making sure he brushes at school before his appointment if we don't have time. At our previous orthodontist, we felt like we were being herded through like cattle and never felt welcome. I love that at Dr. Benson's office, they have incentives for the patients to take good care of their braces. Being rewarded for such tedious, not-so-fun tasks is fantastic for a 9 year old! Another thing that I thought was great, was the bag full of items they send home with you to help in caring for your new mouth full of metal. They gave us wax, floss, flossers, a new waterpik, toothbrush, toothpaste, a Benson tee, a guide with a list of what my child should avoid eating, etc. and a really great laminated placard to stick to his bathroom mirror that has real photos of how it looks to properly brush and clean braces, with instructions. It also has photos of what broken wires and other problems look like, so he can stay aware if something doesn't feel right in his mouth. AND to top it all off, Dr. Benson, himself, not an assistant or other member of his staff, called the first night after getting the braces placed, to check on my son. I've NEVER experienced the level of patient care provided at this office. Which is very depressing given the amount of money we gave the previous office for my daughter's care. Also, I can't end this review without mentioning the coffee station in the lobby and fresh, soft cookies on the front counter for you on your way out. My son actually WANTS to go to the orthodontist. I can't wait until they start treating my daughter for her final round of treatment as well, because I feel like she missed out on a better experience by not having Benson Orthodontics as an option. I even apologized to her for it.
