Unfortunately, my first experience here was terrible, and I will not be returning. I recently moved…read moreto the Duluth area and was hoping to find a new place for my regular full-body waxes. I have been getting waxed for YEARS, so I am very familiar with the process and what to expect. I originally came in for a full-body wax with Maria. She cleaned my skin with rubbing alcohol, applied wax to my right underarm, and then left the wax sitting there while she moved on to start my Brazilian. The wax was being left on my skin for several minutes at a time and STILL was not setting properly. Removal was extremely painful. Maria repeatedly apologized throughout the service and seemed unprepared. She also did not have a fan available to help the wax set. At that point, I could already tell that the service was going horribly, so I told her I no longer wanted to proceed with the full-body wax and would only do my underarms and Brazilian. Even after limiting the service, I left with hair still remaining on my Brazilian. Then, after everything that happened, she attempted to charge me $80. I was honestly shocked. The service was painful, the wax was not setting properly, I had to change my original service because I no longer felt comfortable proceeding with a full-body wax, and my Brazilian still was not completed properly. I really wanted to find a waxing location closer to home since I recently moved to Duluth, but this experience made that decision for me. I will gladly make the drive back into Atlanta for my full-body waxes. First and last visit.

I visited this location about a couple months ago. They have…read moreadjusted their prices of all massages to include a table shower. I met the owner and I asked him to explain the rational of why he is requiring everyone to pay for a table shower even if they don't want one. For example; 1hr massage is $80 which includes a table shower. I asked him what if people just want a massage, will they have to pay for a table shower too? He didn't have an answer. This is basic business acumen. Most places have a price with or without the table shower. They did not offer any alternatives. I would suggest you avoid this location until they resolve their pricing issues. This speaks to why I have not been back. This was one of my go to places. But when you increase prices and the massages is just ok, it's easy to elsewhere. They also ask you to pay first. That may be an indication of the quality of the massage. Taking money up front does not inspire confidence. About a block away, heading towards 316 is Meet Me at Massage. They have a great looking facility, very bright and cheerful and their massage includes a free self shower, if you choose. The quality of the massage is the same as BD. But the facility looks much better. I'll check back after the holidays to see if they have made in adjustments and share my feedback.

The manager told me if they didn't have other clients waiting, it would be no trouble. I enjoyed the ambiance and calm the place exuded, and my stress levels were high when I got there, but I felt amazing when I left. You will hear other people if you opt to pay attention to it on a busy day, but the music is a lovely distraction from noise interference, and I loved Elizabeth's skill and dexterity as a massage therapist. I'm pretty shocked to see a one-star review for Spa Stinny, and I wouldn't let that affect your decision to visit the spa. Their prices are ridiculously low, and they don't sales push you into their membership plan. The manager was in attendance, and she was incredibly polite and professional. I'm just glad I know how to use my GPS and redirect from a major intersection blockage, because I would never presume a receptionist's customer service relies on her inability to be a navigation system. There are also at least four different back-roads options. When I went to book my appointment online, I noticed a very clear policy on cancellation fees, and were I to show up with my party over an hour late during what looks to be Valentine's rush week during couples bliss, I certainly wouldn't whine, rant and cry scam and foul. Spa Stinny is certainly no scam, but unfortunately they can't control bogus reviews from adults who lack individual accountability and the ability to take personal responsibility for their shortcomings. I've been to deluxe spas, mid-level and smaller franchises, and what Spa Stinny lacks in frills and luxury, they make up with great massages, great customer service, and excellent pricing. My husband and I will both be getting a membership with them, and I look forward to a relaxing massage every month for 2015.

Honestly I wasn't going to leave this and was just gonna take the loss and just not return, but…read moreafter thinking about it more I know I would appreciate getting a heads up as a potential customer. I actually picked this spa because it had good ratings in the area. The spa itself is very clean, well decorated, the front desk staff were friendly and my massage therapist was friendly. But the service I got I feel cheated out of my money for. I basically paid to have someone slather lotion all over my body and nothing more. There was no massage technique used, and it seemed on multiple occasions my therapist was either distracted by something or falling asleep because her hands would frequently just go still on my body for several seconds before starting up again. It was awkward and I wasn't sure if I should ask her what's going on or not, lol. Like I genuinely feel like I paid someone random and completely untrained off the street to give me a massage. I left with my hair in mats too because the scalp massage was basically just her twirling her fingers around in my hair and tangling it up. My experience was only with one massage therapist, so it's very possible that the other ones working there are great at their jobs. But I definitely want to spend money on a massage that doesn't have me considering getting up and walking out halfway through again I'm not saying don't go here but definitely proceed with caution if you're expecting formal massage technique.
