It has always been convenient for me since I live walking distance, but I always used to prefer Beach Bum, Boca, etc. Since the renovation (1-2 years?), the beds have been updated, the rooms, etc. so now it is able to compete with the bigger chains. (Before this it had been a bit dated for a while--example: boom boxes in the rooms.) Because it's a small place and in a shopping center, I'm not sure if a lot of people know it's there. Perfect Color is a small chain, and I've been to the Farmingdale location once or twice. The counter girls are always friendly and I've never walked into a dirty room/bed. The salon itself is clean and the prices are about average with specials/coupons available every so often. I'm really impressed with how much this place has improved over the past few years and lately haven't bothered going elsewhere since it's so close...why drive an extra 15 minutes to Beach Bum if the prices/beds are pretty much the same and there's usually a wait for the better beds? At this place I have never, ever, waited for a bed. It's always quiet, clean, and I get a great color for a decent price. (10 sessions in a level 4 bed: $150--level 5 is the highest.)
