I came here a few weeks ago for a green smoothie, my first time ordering from this company. I was asking all sorts of questions of if they add sugar, what kind of protein they have, liquid base and such. The only reason why I was asking because I need to watch my sugar content and other things that can be in the smoothies. Not all smoothies can be healthy. The employee that I was talking to, he seems annoyed and/or doesn't have the answers to my questions. One of the questions I asked if he knew what brand name for the protein powder, he gave me a shrug and doesn't understand why I asked for a brand name. I was turned off by that. I really like this place. It's a small casual cafe that sells different types of smoothies and sandwiches. They have healthy smoothies and traditional smoothies as well. For food, they serve sandwiches, flatbreads, salads and wraps. I usually order the Island green smoothie (kale, spinach, mango, pineapple and bananas) It's so good! Comparable to Jamba Juice with more reasonable prices. The food is good, but the service is not. They get paid to stand there and talk. I mean they talk a lot, I get it when there are no customers but if their are paying customers please do your job, instead of talking non stop, which slows you down, just do your job. We came in on March 30th 2024 around 5:30PM, the employees were just sitting and talking did not acknowledge us at all. Love love love this place. Only downfall is I wish it was closer towards the North Shore as in (the ferry ways) Location! I've been hearing so many good things about this place and saw everyone on campus with their smoothie so I decided to finally check the place out after being at CSI's 1R for 3.5 hours running on half an avocado! Anyways! The place wasn't really busy on a weekday around 5-6pm & the place looked clean! A little small around the ordering area but good amounts of seats and tables for sit-in. The workers were super friendly as I was overwhelmed with what to get (I don't go well with so many options!) but it came down to doing a combo/ meal which consisted on a smoothie, sandwich and a side. Let's say I was VERY satisfied with my order which was ~$11 something. The smoothie - I got pomegranate plunge, yum! - it was in a large styrofoam cup which really surprised me because I was expecting a smaller cup; the sandwich was really yummy too! I ordered the turkey bacon ranch and I got a side of fruit medley :) (On a side note: I didn't get a picture of the sandwich bc I got too hungry.. oops! But it was well presented and was delicious). I was in the neighborhood and I was craving a smoothie and this place hit the spot. I got the blueberry bliss, which had blueberries, strawberries, and bananas. The total was $5.98, after tax, which is very cheap considering the size. In Manhattan, a smoothie would cost $6-7, sometimes even $8, and it would be smaller. Even though it has bananas in it, it was on the icy side, instead of creamy. And it's more on tart than sweet. It was served in a styrofoam cup, so it took awhile to melt. read more

Smoothies tried were the Acai Berry Boost, Watermelon Mojito and todays shake the Avocolada. This was one of my favorites. Avocado, pineapple, spinach, kale, coconut & lime. The only complaint I can make about the smoothies is that they don't make it back to my job site in time. They are huge and I still find myself pushing thru brain freeze to choke them down. I haven't reviewed a business in a few years, so it's good to be back. And it's good to start with damn near my favorite local relatively healthy spot ever. I've frequented this establishment since it's beginnings, and I've been in love ever since. I'm a huge smoothie fan, & their smoothies are consistent (mostly) & most importantly, delicious. Many of them, and this is key for lactose intolerant victims like myself, are dairy free; there are a few exceptions that clearly note non-fat yogurt in them, but otherwise they are water or juice based. All the ingredients are real fruits & veggies, and it also took me a few months to realize this pro-tip: you can literally ask for anything in anything or remove anything from anything. Make up your own smoothie if you want! Remix that Island Green! Put some mango in that peanut butter smoothie, if you're a monster and you hate good things! They also provide a wide array of nutritional supplements you can add to any smoothie, ranging from healthy (like spinach & kale) to curious (fat burner?). Some smoothies offer some supplements in them already, so keep that in mind if you wanna cut financial corners. The place is often very clean, & the staff are mostly fantastic. They know their regulars by name, & they've even taken into account when my regular drink switched up (because maybe I shouldn't drink two pomegranate smoothies a day, I could stand some variety). You can call your order in for pick up, you can use their app to customize your order as much as necessary, you can use their rewards card (that grants you $5 free after spending $55) on your phone... really, the convenience is excellent. And smoothies are half off between 7AM - 9AM! *Steve Jobs voice* ONE MORE THING! They have food, too! Their choices are limited but relatively healthy & standard for the style of shop: wraps, flatbreads, etc. I recommend any of them, all that can be customized to your liking as well, but the peanut butter banana crunch flatbread is the surprise banger. Too long, didn't read: check this place out, buy a wrap & a smoothie (however you want it), and try to avoid the rush, but with quality like this, you can't really blame anybody. read more

Full disclaimer, I have only come here once. I got the Thai chicken salad and my gf got the Caribbean jerk wrap. We were both a little disappointed. The salad seemed like it was premade and it felt like I picked the salad out of the refrigerator at some stop and go style place. Her wrap (see picture) was clearly lacking from what was expected. Generally, I would guess that you won't be amazed by the food or horribly disappointed. However my major gripe is that I looked at the nutritional information on their website for their "healthy" food and shakes... and umm, they are NOT healthy. 80-120 grams of sugar has no place in a "healthy" shake! The nutritional info on the food is not much better. I'm sorry - but it's places like this that feed off of vulnerable people that want to eat healthy and try their best to do so. These types of people come establishments like this that pretend to be healthy and it's a sad story because they are just hurting themselves even more. Nutrition is a hard thing to understand, and these types of places take advantage of that fact. It's immoral and wrong. I'm fine with people selling bad food, but don't market it as healthy. If you want to eat something with a lot of calories, just go across the parking lot and eat at mcdonalds, at least you know what you're getting and you can pig out appropriately. If you want to eat healthy, go down victory towards the expressway and try out "Eat Better" where the food choices are not only more tasty, but also healthier (don't get me wrong you can get some bad stuff there too, but the healthy options actually DO exist). read more

I am extremely disappointed with this establishment. My complaint is for the Tropical Cafe which just opened in Staten Island New York. My office and I have called several times in the past looking forward to ordering our lunch from here only to be told they did not have a delivery driver (only available on some days). Finally, after several weeks of attempts to place an order a delivery driver was working. The menu which we had in our office did not have any prices; so I understand how annoying it must have been for L** (the girl taking our order) to keep repeating how much each item was. I'm assuming L** grew annoyed and thought she put us on hold, but instead proceeded to tell someone "She's pissing me off" and " I can't deal with this bitch"... With that I asked her to speak with her manager who apologized for her "being young" and continued to take our order. Upon arrival of our order several pieces of hair was found entwined with-in the wrap which caused the confusion in price. Clearly with finding several (6/7 strands of hair) with-in the wrap was no coincidence. I am horrified and disgusted. I could see if when placing the order we were nasty and harsh, but confusion in pricing which led to being cursed out and receiving contaminated food is unacceptable. I advise against ordering from here, which is a shame because their smoothies really are good. We would have probably made this place our go to for lunch since our office loves places which are healthy and delicious. read more

This was my first time visiting and my first impression was not good. I decided to place my order online to avoid the wait. The site was not very user friendly. If you wanted to remove an ingredient, you couldn't. I got to the end to place the order and it said it didn't processs. I called in to the restaurant to make sure of what happened and the lady who answered the phone said that there wasn't an order. I then placed the order. I got the combo with the Peaches N Silk smoothie and a chicken Caesar wrap with no tomatoes. I asked if it would be extra to add another fruit but she did not know. When I got there to pick up my order, I asked to add pineapple to my smoothie. I was told ok but when I finally got my order, I did not taste pineapple at all and my wrap had tomatoes which I had to pick out. And anyone knows that once a wrap is opened, it's hard to wrap it back so it doesn't keep coming open. The work area had so many people moving back and forth, it appeared very disorganized.
