Tropical Smoothie Cafe (which I will shorthand to Tropical Smoothie) has always been promoted as a healthy yet delicious alternative to most fast food for as long as I have eaten there. Case and point: almost every major gym had a Tropical Smoothie nearby. These days, Tropical Smoothie is no longer the powerhouse they used to be. However, at times, I stop by and find their selection nostagically delicious. As for this particular location? It has "fallen from grace" from the first times I been here, but overall, they are not bad. But on the other hand, there are better Tropical Smoothies out there. This Tropical Smoothie is located on Babcock St., south of Hibiscus Blvd. and north of US-192. Remember what I said about gyms always nearby Tropical Smoothies? Fitness Society and Club 4 Gym is nearby. Getting into the parking lot for Tropical Smoothie is not hard. Easier to make the right turn in for sure, but there is a left-turn lane in the center of Babcock St. Just respect the right-of-way and you're golden. Inside, the biggest take-away I found was how minimalistic the decor was. It is no longer the vibrant beach theme it used to have. Instead, we get simple tables and chairs and certain painted walls. No pictures, no fake plants, nothing. However, the addition of online ordering might be where most of their business is now. There was a line and it seemed as if there were only two people working that day. Ergo, service was kind, but slow. This was probably the most glaring issue I came across, but I do not want to dunk on the workers. They were great. However, businesses seem to not know how to keep up with the times. Restaurants, in general, are having a hard time keeping staff. I ordered one of their protein smoothies as I am a protein hog, and the classic PB & J with banana flatbread. Both were delicious and maybe it was me, but the prices see adequate for inflation. Nothing too expensive actually. Overall, not a bad visit, but I remember the heyday and this is not what it was. I will say my visit was average and the food is still good for what it is. However, I did check macros and just like back then, I stopped drinking too many of their smoothies because the sugar content is quite high. Whenever I go to church on Sundays, I may make the stop to get more flatbreads and a smoothie every now and then. I will have to see if they have a sugar-free option with Stevia sweeteners. If they do, they'll definitely get that boost. read more

This location is severely understaffed. Not only do they have orders to take in person, they have phone orders, online orders, and orders through a third party. Online orders stare they will be ready in 10 minutes but that is not the case when it is busy. Their online system should account for this and not always give the same time for every order. During the lunch hours it can get ridiculous. I would recommend ordering online 20-30 minutes before you would like to pick up. There is seating inside, cubby squares to put up online orders that you look for your name on the receipt and take yourself. The ambience is casual and noise level is average. Their straws for me are very difficult to open, maybe I haven't figured out the technique. The food I have tried is pretty good and they even have kids sizes. Some of the smoothies are high in sugar so don't think their smoothies are all healthy. I believe the quality of service would greatly improve if this location could be staffed with more employees or they need to get rid of phone/online orders (I would greatly miss this gesture) if they cannot staff it well enough to keep up. I was in there today with my granddaughter. This is one of her favorite places and we always visit there when she is staying with us. We were the first in line but there was no one to take our order. We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Then it took another 20 minutes or more to get our sandwiches. I asked for napkins twice. There were no napkins in sight. I finally had to go into the bathroom and get hand towels. We were finished with our sandwiches before we got our smoothies. We saw a number of people leave without ordering because they waited so long and no one came out to take their order. Not a place we will visit again and don't recommend it. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting. I went in and placed an order. I should have looked around first. While I was waiting for the food to get ready I used the restroom. On my way to the restroom and employee walked out, so I walked in to the one single person restroom, and noticed the employee never even flushed the toilet there were bits of toilet paper all over the bathroom along with a roach. I'm talking about the bug. I come out of the disgusting bathroom and walked over to finish waiting for my food and that same employee was walking around complaining about people the floor in the place was disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been swept in a week. The one employee gave me my smoothie and then my sandwich sat up there while the employee that came out of the bathroom was just talking in the back. The little girl that made my food came out and I thought good. I'm glad she's different than the employee in the bathroom, I took my food to go and when I opened it, the bacon that was on the sandwich wasn't even cooked. Manager name: Julie. I order the same smoothie every time I go to tropical smoothie. this time it tasted pretty bad. I kindly asked the cafe to remake the smoothies. They gave me a really hard time about my comment and said they made it right even though I told them I know it doesn't taste as it should. the manager got on the phone and finally agreed to remake the smoothies but I could tell she wasn't happy about it. when I got back to the store to pick them up the employees and the manager were all cussing me out behind the counter. completely rude - that behavior should be fired. I ordered a breakfast wrap to go. When I got home and opened it, the wrap was torn open and spilled out everywhere. this means the worker ripped it open (on accident probably) then cut it and wrapped it up and just decided to give it to me a giant mess. I've worked in a sub shop before and whenever a wrap would tear, I'd put the contents onto a new wrap so it wasn't a giant mess for the customer. It wouldn't have been much effort to fix it on their part but they just wrapped it up anyways. If they were super busy and in a rush to get the next order done... I needed a quick lunch and this place was the closest so I stopped in and grabbed a wrap. Their prices are steep for the quality at $8 for a wrap and bag of chips (no drink). The wrap was a decent size but was "fast food" quality at best. And eating a whole wrap ran me 803 calories and a whopping 2040mg of sodium!! The sandwiches are decent, but don't stand out much compared to other places that serve sandwiches. Unfortunately the sandwiches are pretty small for the amount of money you spend. I personally used to work at this establishment, and can say they are very unclean. They barely pass health inspections. They are constantly leaving things out that need to be refrigerated. They also have a serious roach problem, that's why Massey pest services are in quite often. Not very safe when it comes to the food they serve their customers. There are better tropical smoothies. Just went in here, stood in line for over 5 mins. Employees working in the back kept starring at me with no acknowledgement. Even had one of the patrons already eating in the cafe get up and inform them that there's someone standing waiting to be served. There was absolutely no response/service. I walked out of the cafe because service and customer service is key and if you don't value your customer, you'll not get my business. I go to other locations of tropical smoothie and enjoy their smoothies and food, however today I had an issue with my order. I order what I normally order, a chicken pesto flatbread substituted with the no-chicken strips (I'm vegetarian) and I got my order to go. The service was slow but they seemed understaffed, so I was okay. When I got home I realized that there was nothing inside my flatbread but cheese and tomato. It's very upsetting that I've ordered this at other locations, but they were unable to successfully create my order. After going back the woman working was very helpful and fixed my food, but it's irritating that it happened and I had to come all the way back to the restaurant. read more

Smoothies are good, but if you not a patient person DO NOT GO. I am not quite sure why they can't make a smoothie in 2 - 3 minutes, but even when they have 3 or 4 customers it takes 10 minutes.
