Busy location on Saturday! Well staffed - I saw at least 5 people working up front. Easily ordered through the app with rewards and Apple Pay. A larger cafe space than others I have been to. Our smoothies were in the wrong alphabet section for pick up. We waited at a table for our food to be put up. After our scheduled pick-up time, I went to the counter and they had the food in a bag sitting on near the prep area with another water. That would have been good to know that we needed to ask for our food. The Thai Chicken Salad (ordered without wontons) and dressing was good. I usually order the Chicken Pesto Flatbread and the salad was a nice alternative. My go-to smoothie is the Island Green, substitute Splenda, and add pea protein (versus whey, which is animal protein). My husband got the Island Green Detox without sweetener and you can definitely taste the ginger! My kids like the Jetty Punch (strawberry and banana). read more

Tropical Smoothie Cafe - THAI CHICKEN Salad (ordered with no wontons) - Sandwiches Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

Okay, I tried to give Tropical Smoothie another chance, but once again they've failed me. I used to faithful go here daily but the moment stopped using real fruit their smoothies tasted weird. Today, I went there and got a Bahamas Mama because I was pressed for time, and found myself getting highly upset. I've never had a smoothie that tasted like water with a bit of flavor in it. The service was fine, the atmosphere was cool, but the smoothies, never again. read more

This location is well staffed, the staff are just the right amount of friendly and it is kept very clean. They have some really healthy options on their menu and some not as healthy. My favorites are the Blueberry bliss smoothie, buffalo chicken wrap and for breakfast there peanut butter and banana flatbread. Also if all of the employees were wearing masks read more

Those guys are fast and furious!! Havent been here for a year, but the peanut butter paradise still tastes the same. They are very consistent. I like it. Parking spaces are shared with 3-4 businesses so keep that in mind during rush hours. I was here on a Saturday noon and there were still a few available. Service is great and the people working their are helpful and professional. Tables/dine-in is open full throttle. I hope to keep seeing this business thrive as does Kalamazoo and its community. I was super excited to try this place, they have good options on their menu. I ordered the Thai chicken wrap with sweet potatoes. Wrap was good but had two slices of chicken just on the top. They messed up my order of no scallions so I had to pick them out. The sweet potatoes were GROSS! They served the sweet potatoes to me that were past their sell by date. Had a sticker that it was prepared 12/26 and serve by 29th. I went on the 30th and got 4 day old prepared sweet potatoes. Nasty. Went to the counter to talk and no one came up so I just threw them away. Disgusting to serve food 4 days old and past the date on the sticker. But a PRO- yummy smoothie. Would come back for a smoothie maybe. Was just sad about getting past good food for this being a "fresh" place. read more

My new go to smoothie place. I literally run like a crazy person 5 or so days a week. Tropical smoothie has the PERFECT items to replenish me once im done. The Bahama Mama is my go to. Amazing hints of white chocolate and coconut. The workers are always super friendly and efficient. I tried the edible strawberry straw. Tasted a bit artificial but the smoothie itself is superb! Can not wait to try this love during the summer! read more

Like this place a lot the smoothies are the best! That is all I ever used to get here, and then my wife said lets meet and have lunch. I said huh? They have food? Tropical Smoothie Cafe - Sandwiches Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

My wife and I heard about Tropical Smoothie Cafe through Yelp. It's pretty new to the Kalamazoo area, so we thought we'd check it out. We are very glad we did! The environment was fun and refreshing, complete with bright colors and pictures of fruit on the walls. We spent quite a while looking over the menu before ordering. I ordered a cilantro lime taco and a Korean bbq taco for a fair price of about $6, and added a 24oz (huge) smoothie for about $4 more. They were advertising their new fall smoothies (I would've never thought of that), so I tried the spiced pear. My wife ordered the chicken pesto flatbread with the Beyond Meat meat substitute, since she's vegetarian. We were grateful that the cashier let us have a sample (albeit cold) of the Beyond Meat. The tacos were good. The Korean bbq was delicious. It was sweet and spicy, and I loved the kale and cucumber added to the top to add some refreshing coolness. The steak was good, nothing unbelievable, but good. I thought the fish taco was good as well. There was a sweet pineapple salsa on top, which was a strong flavor. If you don't like pineapple, you won't like this. But I love pineapple, so I enjoyed it. In combination with the cilantro sauce (creamy, probably mayonnaise-based), the fish flavor was pretty much gone. I enjoyed it, but wished there was a little more subtlety in the sauces. My wife wished the shells had been more special - they were very ordinary tortillas. Nevertheless, both these tacos were very tasty. My wife's chicken (in her case, Beyond Meat) pesto flatbread was very good. The Beyond Meat was impressively tasty! We looked up what it was made of, and it is not exactly tofu, but it is similar in texture and flavor. There is some chicken flavor on the Beyond Meat, and I thought it was quite good in the sandwich! My wife really liked the sandwich, and I agreed that it was delicious. Both the smoothies were good, and good size for the price. I thought both were a little too sweet, however. I've never had a smoothie with pear before, and I think the reason is probably because it was a little grainy. I would probably not get it again, although I enjoyed it as a fun fall treat. The Island Green smoothie that my wife had was very smooth and very good (although a little too sweet in my opinion). Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and our meal. I would recommend it! read more

Love their smoothies! Best detox drink after a workout or to end a hectic day! Tried the new detox drink with no added sugar and it was really good. The after taste of ginger was delightful. A little bit pricey but the size of the drink can last for a whole day. Recommended:) read more

The smoothies are very good. The food is good as well... that is when they deliver all of it. On two separate occasions I've ordered food for delivery and when it arrives, parts of it are missing. I pay a fair buck for it, so I don't think it's expecting too much that all of the food I order actually come with my order. I'm thinking twice before I order from their again. read more

We went into Tropical Smoothie Cafe with high expectations, and at first glance they were met. It appeared to be a clean environment with a health-conscious menu. The cheerful employees who waited on us added to our hopes. My husband and I were leaving town after a quick visit to see family and wanted something that meshed with our gluten-intolerant, vegan-if-possible dietary needs. We both opted for the Health Nut smoothie with pea protein added. It looked great and at first sip all seemed well. Then the strangely sweet, artificial taste set in. What had we ordered? The ingredients listed on the menu board were all innocuous and we didn't think the pea protein posed a problem. We held off drinking more smoothie until we looked up the ingredients online. Listed among their ingredients was SPLENDA! Splenda!!?! That's right; an artificial sweetener that has been compared to DDT since the ingredients are closer to that than actual food. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/02/10/new-study-of-splenda-reveals-shocking-information-about-potential-harmful-effects.aspx I'm guessing that Splenda is (inexplicably) added to every smoothie at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Not sure why; Does Tropical think their ingredients are somehow not up to par, so they give them what they imagine is some extra zip? If so, eek! Evidently unless you know about the insidious Splenda addition and your smoothie without it, you'll get this powdery poison. I can't figure out why they didn't at least tell us about it and ask if we preferred it with or without. One of us had to work so we were in a hurry to get home. Otherwise we would've turned around and asked for a genuinely healthful smoothie. I had that gag-inducing Splenda taste in my mouth until we got to South Bend. Ugh. What a giant disappointment! I was hoping to give a good review but it's not possible. Please, Tropical Smoothie, stop doing this to unsuspecting customers! I can't understand how an ingredient as dreadful as this got into a smoothie in the first place, but it should be ditched fast. read more

Usually like this place the very best for an easy, quick meal. I've been to about half a dozen Tropical Smoothie locations. Normally we are welcomed, greeted with a smile, and given quick, expert service every time. I typically add a few fruits to my smoothie and get less ice, because it tastes so much better that way. It is clear the staff here isn't concerned with customer service or attention to detail. All of the employees seem to be lost or focused on the wrong tasks. They are switching from cleaning or counting money into prepping food without any gloves on--no hand washing taking place either! I was in a hurry and it took 10 minutes to order, without any line. The staff needs better training, management, and more effort to food safety. read more

Delicious smoothies with diverse combinations. I see a few people here have complained about the use of Splenda in some of the smoothies, so if that's a problem for you, be aware. Perhaps I don't know enough about it, but I use Splenda all the time instead of the blue or pink packets. I don't think they use it in all of their smoothies as some reviewers have speculated, as they state when they do, but you should ask about it if this is something you don't want to consume. read more

First of all, I would like to start out by saying that the people who work at this location are nice, just VERY poorly trained. I say this because I placed an order in store today at approximately 4:15 and did not receive my order until 4:50. This was not because they did not have enough staff, in fact, the lady who was behind the counter said they were full-staffed to another customer who asked for a refund because she waited close to an hour for part of her order that she placed on the mobile app. They took this long to make my order because they do not understand how to prioritize orders. Orders should be made in the order that they come in, not by what order was placed most recently. Soon after I placed my order, a rush of people came into the store and I began to notice that everyone that came in after me received their orders before mine (1 smoothie). In what world do orders that get placed after someone else's get made before the person who placed the order first??? Please please please learn how to prioritize which orders get made first because it was extremely frustrating waiting over a half an hour for a single smoothie and watching everyone that came in after me get theirs before mine when I also had a place to be. Extremely disappointed in this service and I hope this reaches them because they will continue to get negative comments if they continue to do this. read more

I first visited TSC a few weeks after it opened and have been back many, many times over the past two years, with many different people. Everyone loves it! The smoothies are delicious, with options for everyone, and flatbreads are ALL winners. My favorite combo for a lunch or dinner is a Paradise Point smoothie with a Cali Chicken Club or Baja Chicken flatbread. My husband's favorite is a Sunny Day smoothie (with spinach and kale added) and a chipotle chicken flatbread. Their salads are yummy as well. The decor is fun, and there's always a spot to sit. One of our favorite places for quick, healthy takeout or for a 3 hour smoothie date with my best friend. Definitely a great addition to Kalamazoo. read more

I have a problem when it comes to smoothies. I really love a good smoothie. The location on West Main does a great job on smoothies. The staff seems to make nice smoothies with great taste and smooth more often than not. They add the right amount of ice instead of too much. I love that they keep bringing out new smoothies like the cranberry smoothie they had around Christmas. Highly recommend this location and has friendly staff. I like Gull Roads as well. Just went here and they were very rude, and gave me smoothie that wasn't filled all the way and said to "deal with it, I'm aren't making anymore." They were wearing headphones and not even listening to me or my concern with my smoothie. I will not be returning to this location. Any other location I've been to has been extremely nice. But not here. I'm very disappointed with their customer service. Because me as a customer should be valued. But I wasn't. I can't give a name of the employee I was so rudely treated by because none of them were wearing any name tags. read more

I usually love tropical smoothie, but I walked into this store and it was immediately a chaotic mess in the place. I wasn't greeted. I went up to the register to place my order and the girl said "be right with you." Then another employee went up to the register while talking on her phone and started typing in somebody else's order for whoever was on the phone. We were ignored by not one, but two employees. I then left the store because I found it very rude for the employee to be on her phone and add her friends order. read more

Very clean. Nice atmosphere. I suppose In traveling, I have been spoiled smoothie wise. I've yet to find around here a smoothie place that does not use ice. And these smoothies seem to use a lot of ice. It's more like drinking Italian ice than a real smoothie. read more

The smoothies are great, but the customer service is awful. I have ordered there more than a handful of times, and every single time I go in there, the ladies working are unwelcoming and 'standoffish'. I can only think of one girl that I have had a good experience with. On top of it all, I made an online order around 6:15AM this morning and requested the pick-up time to be for 7:45AM. I got there right around 8:00AM (giving them 15 EXTRA minutes), and the first girl casually told me that they "must have not made it". The second girl shrugged her shoulders and responded, "hm, I have no idea", and she just walked away. Finally, the first girl got off the phone, which she answered in the middle of our conversation, and casually asked me what kind of smoothie I ordered and began to make it, while barely listening to a word I said about my ORDER she was currently MAKING. Overall, the level of service was CRIMINAL. read more
