three bowls of sauce on a counter

Love this location. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. The service is great too, and the staff is very friendly. However one complaint and this has been a problem for awhile. Tropical Grille, y'all please stop skimping on the sauces. It's quite ridiculous to pay these prices and then only given half a container of sauce, especially when the small cup containers themselves are half the size as they were a couple years ago. Just opened our to-go bag with three big plates of food, flipped the lids off these pitiful cups, and found this. A little annoyed.

NIce clean place with bright lights. Had music playing in the background. Wooden tables with metal chairs. Not the most comfortable but suffice. We ordered the Cuban sandwich which had much more roasted pork than ham on it. Had several pickles on it which was good. We also ordered the vegetarian wrap. It was decent but more of a pita than a wrap. The home run was the baked sweet plantains. They were very enjoyable. Not dried out and tasted amazing.

Got the Classic Deluxe bowl with sweet and sour sauce! And if you listen to me I won't steer ya wrong. You got to try it. Service was clean, courteous and prompt. If ya got to run it it only takes 6-7 minutes to calm your taste buds. So don't forget to make your decision quick, go by Tropical Grill to get your stomach filled!

Cuban Chicken Wrap

Tropical Grille is a winning combination: It's delicious and cheap. Also, I need to be lost in the sauce. They will more than fulfill that. I always get the cuban chicken wrap with an order of Yuka fries. They have a half dozen or so sauces to choose from and even give you the entire bottle for you order. I always go with the Steph Curry sauce and the Jalapeno sauce. They have that chicken grilling right for you to see when you walk in. They display that thing right in front of your face. They don't try to hide it like Chipotle does. In all seriousness, I love these places. They have a couple sprinkled throughout Greenville and I really hope they put a restaurant in Columbia one of these days. This is a must eat if you live in Greenville and a must try if you're from out of town.

LOVE Tropical Grille! South of the Boarder bowl is always my go to! They give you large portions which I love! Definitely get your moneys worth. Love their jalapeño garlic sauce signature sauce. Yum!!!

Cuban Sandwich

I had food from here over a year ago and wasn't impressed and hadn't had anything else since. My husband bought me food from here yesterday and I don't know if they improved their menu or if I chose the wrong thing the first time, but this time, my oh my was everything delicious!! I tried the Cuban sandwich for the first time and it is sooooo good! The pork roast and ham was moist and full of flavor, and the cheese and pickles add just the right touch. This sandwich is HUGE. I could only eat half of it. I do suggest you put it in the oven for about 10-15 minutes if it gets lukewarm or cold. If you're going to eat this, you want to eat it right. So it should be eaten hot or very warm. You won't be disappointed. I also had the South of the Border Bowl, and it was full of chicken, yellow rice, cheese and other goodies. It is very tasty and filling. My husband got me the large and I couldn't finish it. I had a lot left over for later. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the food. Whatever they did to make it better, I hope they keep it that way.

I had the South of the Border with seasoned vegetables. There's grilled chopped chicken breast, lettuce, tomatoes, quacamole, sour cream, cheddar cheese, salsa over yellow rice. The seasoned vegetables was a mixture of orange and yellow carrots with broccoli and cauliflower. I really enjoyed this, don't forget to get your VIP card, after five visits you get a free chop!! I recommend trying Tropical Grille, I think you'll like it as much as I do! SOMEBODY PLEASE COME TO TROPICAL GRILLE IN EASLEY AND TEACH THEM HOW TO COOK!! When it first opened it was really good, but the last two times I've been the bread is hard, the chicken is burned and tough!!

The place a bit hidden if you are using a map app to get to it the first time but once you find it, easy parking and it a great location. The food here was great. I got the Cuban bowl. Yellow rice, black beans and chicken. It was very good. They have 3 sauces to add to your meal. A curry, ranch(maybe) and some sort of spicy jalapeño type sauce. Beware, this one has a kick but I loved it. It's best to put the sauce on the side and use a little at a time with your meal instead of pouring the sauce on your whole bowl, just in case you don't like it. Great food, great staff and great low prices.

So-so.....got a steak sandwich, my wife & mother-in-law ordered the chicken. Good spacing with tables but was surprised no one was wearing a mask behind the counter/grill. The staff was friendly, no table service, but I tipped 15% anyway. Cheers

Tropical Grille (a.k.a. Tropical Chicken Grill) is surprisingly delicious. This small strip mall restaurant serves Cuban food, fresh and fast. There are three locations in/around Greenville. This one can be found in the same shopping center as the Publix on Pelham Rd. It's on the lower level of the property and actually faces Pelham Commons Blvd. Once you see the tiki patio umbrellas, you know you've arrived. This is a quick, casual, and no-frills eatery. The inside of the restaurant amounts to one big room with a bunch of tables, brightly colored walls (red, green, yellow), a TV, and an open kitchen. The space looks relatively new. Similar to Chipotle, ordering is done upfront and your order is prepared and ready for you almost instantly. A large grill sits on display behind a glass window next to the ordering counter so you can see the ingredients being cooked fresh. The restaurant serves "Tropical Chops," which amount to bowls of white or yellow rice topped with a meat and small slice of pita bread. There are also wraps and sandwiches along with salads and a limited selection of sides such as sweet plantains, seasoned veggies, and yuca fries. Meat options include chopped chicken breast and 12-hour-marinated, slow-roasted pork. There's also a nice selection of scrumptious sauces to put on the meat. Regular sized bowls cost about $7-9 each while large bowls cost about $8-10 each. I think the regular size bowl suits most individuals just fine. If you've ever had a Chipotle burrito bowl, the regular size bowl at Tropical Grille is comparable. I've tried both the Cuban Chop and the Roasted Cuban Pork Chop. Both are tasty, though I think I'm partial to the pork here. The Cuban Chop comes with chopped chicken breast (chopped as in cubed, almost) with black beans, white rice, and a slice of pita bread. The Roasted Cuban Pork Chop comes with slow-roasted shredded pork with black beans, white rice, and a slice of pita bread. You can substitute yellow rice for white rice if you desire. I recommend it. Whether you order white or yellow rice, the rice is soft and moist. The black beans are warm, hearty, and comforting. The chicken breast is indeed fresh and tender. Lightly or barely seasoned, it expectedly doesn't have much taste, but that's where the sauces come in. The sauces are great. I've tried the Mustard Curry, Garlic Cilantro, and Jalapeno Garlic sauces. I can't say I have a favorite as they are all quite good and make a significant difference in the enjoyment of the meal. In general, the sauces are light, creamy, addictive, and full of flavor. The roasted pork is fine without sauce. The meat is succulent and juicy on its own. I love it. Service is good. Orders are processed via tablets and receipts are sent electronically (signatures too). The restaurant is clean and the employees are polite and work efficiently.

Advertised salads state they have romaine and the displayed pictures show a bed of green lettuce. Husband and I ordered 1 garden and 2 Caesar salads and received salads with an anemic bed of shredded iceberg lettuce. The chicken was well flavored enough to pick out but super disappointing!

When most people think Sunday brunch, they think of their local meat-and-three, or in the case of…read morethose from Greer, meat-and-four. However, I have found our family to be that of unconventional thinkers, so instead of finding a typical after-church dining locale, we went to the pinnacle of consumerism and capitalism--Haywood Mall. Mrs. W. and I had agreed that finding a place for Baby W. to play before or after eating was important, which also was a factor in where to go after learning about our friend and savior, Jesus Christ. The mall recently renovated its play place to include flashing lights, metal slides, and apparently, almost all of Greenville's population under 2. I had heard of Great Wraps and by that I mean I had briefly seen the sign above their food court booth on my way to the amply-hidden restrooms in the back corner of the food court, but I felt today was the day I would try their cuisine. After snapping Baby W.'s chair to a sturdy table, and after Mrs. W. returned with a plate of Thai food she paid $1.50 too much for (her words), I eagerly sprinted to the Great Wraps booth to give it a try. Great Wraps offers a large variety of wraps, although I wouldn't say their variety is great. Chicken something, chicken something else, and more chicken something. But then, there it was ... falafel hummus wrap. My love of falafel goes back to the Bush administration, enjoying those savory balls of chickpeas at the Pita House while avoiding returning to my paying job. I don't know what else is in falafel, but I can only assume it's addictive because I've always wanted more, but I am too lazy to use Google to learn to make my own. The falafel at Great Wraps is neither spherical nor likely fresh, but it is fried, which meets one of the requirements for it being falafel. During the construction of my wrap, I was asked by the helpful young chap who appeared to be knowledgable about wrap construction if I wanted my wrap "spicy." I've had some questionable experiences with spicy food (looking at you Dragon Den), but felt brave and ready to make the attempt again, so I let the young man know I would take him up on his generous offer to enhance my flavor journey. Several other identifiable ingredients later, my wrap was completed and distributed to me for immediate consumption. I added a little of the available shaker spices to my wrap for extra danger and begun consumption. I was pleased with the result. I let Mrs. W. know next time we ate post-religious ceremony Sunday lunch at our local indoor shopping center, I would likely give Great Wraps additional business. Her immediate response of, "OK," brought forth confidence I've not seen since the prior day when I committed to "spicy" over "non-spicy" at the local Dragon Den.

I mean, it is rotisserie chicken and that is a good thing! This was a tender, juicy chicken wing and thigh (1/4 chicken, dark). I really could not tell a discernible difference between this chicken and one of the standards from, say, Publix or Costco. But it was good. The sauces are a different story. They are why the Peruvian chicken really crosses the road. This is the differentiator. The sauces are, Aji Amarillo Sauce (Mild / Yellow), Huacatay Sauce (Medium / Green), Roasted Rocoto Sauce (Hot / Red), and Huancaina Sauce (Creamy Queso Fresco Sauce). I did not try them all, but I did roll with the Rocoto sauce. It was spicy, maybe too much for the average "mild" sauce person, but for me, it was a nice compliment to the chicken and sides that I ordered. And I received two of the small plastic "ramekin" type sauce containers for "to go." Which is good, because my order was "to go." Service was quick and polite. Restaurant is smaller, but very clean. Kitchen is open enough so that you can see the process in the works. My sides were cilantro rice and Peruvian corn salad. Both very healthy and both very bland. Which is another big plus for the sauce. I would also add that the location is at the corner of Garlington Road and Woodruff Road and not the easiest place to get into and out of unless you are going in a certain direction. Which I was. A minor win there. All told, this is a good option if you can get in and out with traffic, the chicken is good, the star of the show is definitely the sauce and I would say that overall their menu has very healthy options. My quarter chicken listed for $10.39 with two sides. With my Viva Chicken desires satisfied, I would recommend this restaurant if convenient to your travels, but honestly would not make it a destination.
