I have no idea how this place could have managed to get by without getting at least one review. This is now my almost exclusive option for lunch whenever I'm at Fordham. They have a lot of different Mexican food options and I've managed to try quite a few. The portions are huge and delicious. I am a big fan of their steak in anything (burritos, tacs, tortas, etc.) One of the best deals is their hot plate option, which changes day by day. The have a selection of around 8 dishes to choose from, and for 6-8 bucks (depending on the size of your plate), they fill it to the brim with any combination of whatever you want. They seriously stuff it to the top. The small is probably too big for most people to finish. And the food is really good and very fresh. Items range from chicken stew with potatoes and carrots, beef stew with cactus, barbecued pork, fresh steamed vegetables, spaghetti, rice and beans...the selection changes by day and is almost always ridiculously delicious. The service is always friendly, though I went once and the person didn't speak any English. Since I don't speak any Spanish, this inevitably led to some confusion though the woman was still very nice.
The only real negative to this place is that if you're not ordering the hot plate option, the wait can get a little long. Since they do everything fresh, it's not really a bad thing, but it can get inconvenient.
So my rating is actually 4.5 stars, but can't do that, so I'll round up since I like the place so much. read more
