Way overpriced!! All the fish I wanted to possibly buy are in their huge display tanks full of beautiful fish. Weird store.

All of the fish I have gotten from here the last few months have been extremely diseased and I just now realized it was the reason for them dying. I just bought three pelvis from there and have now completely killed everything in my tank completely. A 10 thousand dollar tank. DO NOT BUY FISH FROM HERE!!! They don't know what they're doing or how to keep their fish healthy! read more

I would definitely not recommend this place. Especially not to clean your tanks. We are having to get rid of one tank because of the algae bloom that was created after the tank was cleaned. read more

Have bought two salt water aquariums here, as well as all accessories for set up and maintenance. Get water here every week to water changes. Kelly is extremely helpful and customer service oriented. Always a pleasure to visit with her about fish, corals, eyes... All the employees are very friendly and helpful. Does not have the stock of the HOUSTON or San Antonio stores but for Corpus it's where I go. The only draw back is that the road leading to the store, McArdle, has been torn up and full of potholes for at least six months while the city slowly puts in a new road. It's not their fault the city is taking so long but pretty rough road if you're in a car. read more

Honestly the people were kinda rude and didn't welcome anyone as they came in. As one of the only fish stores in corpus they don't seem like they are trying to create new bonds with customers. I'm really into freshwater tanks but I don't plan on buying much if anything there. Petco and online will have to suffice. read more

This place is terrible I called twice asking about their ghost cats because I saw on Facebook that they had some. Soooo at least 2 times that woman looked inside that tank and she knew I was driving in from out if town also! I get there the next day the ghost cats all had fin rot noticeable fin rot some were missing tails even and she proceeds to tell me she didn't notice it and I could have them for half price! Are you kidding me lady I don't want fin rot in my tank! This place is very unclean and very unprofessional the tanks all had cloudy water it was disgusting and smelled! Thankfully I found another place in corpus to order my ghost cats without fin rot! Stay away unless you want sick fish from this place! read more

As someone who bred rare cichlids for years, this place was the best. It had everything I needed. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to help. The best part about this store is the effort they put into maintaining the tanks. Not once in my visits have I seen out-of-control algae, dead floating fish, or incompatible creatures in the same tank. I would strongly encourage anyone to make this store the first one visited for any aquarium needs. read more

Would give it one star if I could. Bought an Oscar fish from this place and didn't even last a week. All my water parameters were fine and my other fish were fine except this one started to get a white huge spot on its head only two days after I got him. He was full of parasites and when I called them to diagnose the problem the lady there said "oh it's a bruise he'll be fine" he died on Thursday and I bought him Monday. Not to mention the customer service sucks. One worker, chunky female who walks around with a parrot on her shoulder the whole time has the worst attitude and acts like she doesn't want to answer your questions. Just stay away, go to petsmart or petco where you can get your money back if the fish die. No reason to risk wasting money read more

Purchased a fish from them, didn't realize it was missing a tail, I trusted the employee. I require all body parts when purchasing a 15 dollar fish. Went in first hour open next day and was told they would take my fish back as a donation but as far as my money- go pound salt. . Go somewhere else, after 500 in sales they will not take care of you. Very un Texan like business practices. Other area fish stores guarantee what they sell. read more

Tropical Fish Haven is a small store, with really helpful people there. This is a mom and pop store so they don't have a really large selection of everything but what they do have is really nice. The guy I talked to was very knowledgeable of the products they sold and how to take care of the fish. We have turtles and he was also very knowledgeable about turtles so I highly recommend this place. This is a really awesome store if you're into aquariums. read more

I have a 75 gallon freshwater tank with african cichlids. I was so very pleased to locate a store that has knowledgeable staff on these fish. On 7/10/10 I purchased approximately $300 in the store on items for my tank as well as 5 new african cichlids. I had one of the fish die in less than 12 hours after I got them home. I thought my tank was may be bad and after doing a battery of tests I came to the conclusion that it was just the fish and not the water. I called the store and was told that I had to speak to the owner on Monday. I called and was told there is NO guarantee on the fish nor would they give me a new fish. I paid $25 for this fish, which is no real big deal. I WILL NO LONGER USE THIS STORE for any of my supplies or fish. I take great pride in my fish and tank and to have a store not guarantee a fish for at least 24hrs is crazy. I would not recommend this store to anyone due to this and their extremely high prices!!!! read more

We absolutely loved this shop until we encountered its owners. The women are arrogant and have too much attitude to be working in customer service. The final straw was today when my husband asked if they could come down on the price of a $300 light set and instead of answering appropriately, we were given two mouthfuls from both women. The employees are very knowledgable, helpful and friendly. To be honest, though, they are likely the only reason this place is still in business as the same cannot be said for the owner. She is not only rude, but often times passes wrong information to try and sell additional equipment. Furthermore, I purchased a $4000 tank from her and she was not only unwilling to give me a military discount or deliver the product, but she laughed at me when I asked. In addition, the fish selection is marginal at best, and the water quality leaves much to be desired. Talk to the guys who work there for information on set ups if you want, but I'd think twice about buying there. read more

So from Austin just like checking out aquarium stores and this one a little bit of a let down. All the fish only tanks are not ever light up they just use the ceiling store lights which I have never see. Second the one tank that has corals the water was cloudy and all the corals were like $40 and up even mushroom. Third I really ever knew who the employees where no one say hello can I help you. So if you live here and your a reefer sorry because I don't think CC got a really nice reef store. read more

While I have heard that Tropical Fish Haven has helped to set up nice fresh water aquariums and ponds, there's a reason you never hear anything about their marine expertise. Having heard numerous stories of DOA fish bought from Tropical, I spent about 45 minutes watching their salt water fish. With an eye on the lookout for crypt (all fish for sale seem to share the same water supply), I noticed even more disturbing signs of bad husbandry than crypt. About half of the labeled "Tank Raised" clown fish layed at the bottom of their tank gasping for oxygen as a few larger (and scarred - one had no gill covers at all) clowns busily picked at eyeballs and tail fins. By the time I left, 2 out of the 6 or so smaller fish were dead. I watched a 2 inch blue tang flit around the bottom of it's tank, gasping for breath. I noted a good size tomato clown (I think?) about 2.5 inches long stuck dead back behind a piece of pvc in it's tank. It had been dead at least a few days, as it was discolored, soggy, and it's eyes were white and sagging inward. Most disturbingly, I discovered a smooth puffer about 2 inches long still gasping at the bottom of it's tank but unable to swim because it's tail had been completely shredded down to a stump. Apparently quite recently, it had been put into a section of tank with a 4 inch or so blue chin trigger. ANY marine hobbyist knows that ALL triggers will become territorial and aggressive when housed in a small tank (this section of tank was approx. a 1x1 foot cube) with a small, more diminutive fish, like a puffer. This puffer likely died slowly and painfully due to Tropical Fish Haven's obvious lack of marine knowledge. All these observations beg the question, why does TFH have a marine section if they a) don't care to know anything about the animals they are housing and b) are obviously loosing hundreds of dollars daily in livestock that is killed or succumbs to something as basic as low oxygen levels? It is worth noting that the two "not for sale" salt water tanks separate from the for-sale livestock were beautiful and housed some very impressive specimens, most notably a s. splendidus mandarinfish. If they can keep their own pets alive, why can't they keep their livestock alive? It is also worth noting that their freshwater section looked to be in great condition, they had sturdy stands for sale, and had some very cheap equipment BUT PLEASE do not support this store. For the love of the fish take your money elsewhere. read more

We use their services for our office aquarium. For the most part everyone is knowledgeable. We get all of our tank necessities from them. They usually show up same day or the next day when we need service on our tank. As someone who was thrown into the world of tank maintenance against my will, the owner has been very helpful. She answers all my questions and explains things clearly. I'm sure I've asked her the same questions a million times but she is always friendly and doesn't get frustrated with my lack of knowledge. I started going to this place about two months ago. I have taken them baby guppys and plecos. They will not give you anything either. Yesterday, I bought to yellow labs from them and when I got home the male was not doing well. The guy catching him took a long time so I don't know if he over stressed the fish or hurt the fish. The female is doing fine. I called them today to let them know the male had died overnight and asked if they would replace the fish. They said no. they don't do that. I will never go there again for anything. Bad way to run a business. read more

Purchased $111.49 worth of fish. Got them home and added them to my tank (that I have had for approximately 5 years) and they were dead within two days. I purchased fish for two tanks and the same problem happened in both. I have had African C. off and on for many years (6 tanks) and never have I had this happen. Not only did the new fish die but 4 of my oldest and largest also died. I called the store to ask if they had a problem with their any of their tanks and the guy said no. I left word and asked that he have the owner give me a call. Than was August 12, 2015 and I am still waiting for her to call. I have purchased other items like filters, stands and other fish and had no problems. I am very disappointed that she has never bothered calling me back to discuss this issue. I have now purchased from Pet Smart some fish to replace the ones that dies. They have a 15 day warranty type policy. However, I have never used it before. If this is how she deals with her customers I guess I will shop elsewhere for my tropical fish. read more
