However, I signed up for a membership approx six months ago and have been consistently disappointed. On at least five occasions, I've stopped by to tan only to find the salon closed during their posted business hours. On one occasion, there was an entire business day where they didn't open. The beds are frequently poorly cleaned, with smudges on the top acrylic and are in serious need of maintenance. It's common to see dust clogged up on the fans, multiple bulbs out & hair stuck inside the bed. I once had to stop a session because there was a live wasp inside the tanning bed (under the acrylic)! The rest of the salon isn't much better: I've seen no paper towels or toilet paper in the restroom on multiple occasions. The employees are young, sometimes distracted but mostly friendly. Staff turnover has been high in the time that I have been a member. I've left repeated message on the voicemail & with the employees, politely requesting a call from the owner (there is no manager that I know of) and have never received a call or an email. A returned phone call, an apology for the repeated instances of the salon not being open and a comped upgrade or two would be a good start. I was willing to overlook a few things, but this place is getting worse & isn't worth the price. Save yourself the frustration & take your business elsewhere.

I'm pretty picky about cleanliness, and in all these years I have never experienced anything less than a clean environment. The staff is and has always been entirely professional, helpful and cheerful. I know you don't have to have merry, but it is really nice to feel like family every time you check in. The equipment is top notch, and I've never experienced a burn. I enjoy tanning any time of year now because this tanning salon manages to keep their space cool even though it feels like Phoenix in July out in the parking lot. It is far more enjoyable and tolerable to tan when the business keeps it space air-conditioned fully. I have had unfortunate experiences with other salons in the area. Management constantly replaces bulbs to keep customers satisfied with their tanning expectations. Frequent bulb changes ensure you are getting your money's worth every time you visit. Something to consider if you go elsewhere. Lastly, for being in the KSU area, there are plenty of tanning options and tanning equipment at Tropic Tan. I do go during the day and I've not experienced a wait yet. Tropic Tan is the best place to go for a quick and burn free tan.

I am posting from a very recent personal HORRIFIC experience that I recently had. The time line and…read moreexperience is as follows: On Sunday, February 7th at approximately 1:10 PM of this year I went in for a tan. (This was my 3rd time being there and had tanned twice before in the same bed for 15 minutes. Bed #1) So I went in as usual and got in the bed. After 4 minutes I felt an excruciating pain all down by back and backside so I immediately got up. To my surprise I had terrible 1st degree burns where I was in pain. (Pics attached) I got dressed and inspected the bed only to find out that it had some sort of cream or substance all over the bed. This I discovered from running my hand down the bottom glass and smelling my hand which had a tropical odor. Keep in mind, when I first entered the room, there was a folded clean towel, goggles, and a sign on the bed that said it had been inspected and cleaned. After discovering this and while in pain, I went out to the girl (cant remember her name but she is the owners daughter) and showed her my back. After which she told me she had just fired the girl who worked the night before who was responsible for that bed. That being said, she said she would give me 3 free tanning sessions to "compensate" for my burn and inconvenience. To which I reluctantly accepted. That being said she "put it in the system" and I left. Following the next few weeks I received 2 of the 3 tans. Cant remember the first one but the 2nd was on 3/11. So I returned for my 3rd and final free tan on 3/13 and the owners daughter happened to be there that day. When I got there and gave her my name, she tried to charge me $10 for the tan. I then reminded her it was my last free tan. Initially she said that it wasnt in the system and did I have a piece of paper that she said she gave me. Which she never did. When I told her that she didnt she insisted that she did and then asked for a CARD that she said she gave me. I said again she never gave me anything. She debated with me for a minute with a terrible attitude but ended up letting me get my final free tan. After I came out from that tan, she stopped me and told me I was wrong and that I owed her for that tan. I of course disagreed with her and told her that wasnt true. She said she would NEVER give anyone 3 free tans just because their beds werent clean and someone had burned themselves. I obviously couldnt believe she said that. So after another minute or so of debating I told her I didnt owe and wasnt going to pay. As I was leaving, she said to me I wasnt welcome back to the place. I of course said I wasnt interested in coming back. At which point, as I was halfway out the door, she had the audacity to yell "BITCH" to me on the way out. I then shouted the same back to her. Childish I understand at this point but it was in the heat of the moment. --- then I proceeded to get in my car and drive off. Now THIS is where the story really gets good. About 2 minutes after I drive off I get a call from a blocked number from a woman. (Later to find out she was the wife and part owner Mrs. Hilley) She IMMEDIATELY tells me she is calling in a warrant for my arrest for "threatening" her daughter. I was livid, and I told her she had her story completely wrong and that I was offended at her accusation. She then told me they had it ALL on video tape. To this I was relieved and told her that I would GLADLY meet her up at the salon with a police officer to review the video. Knowing that NONE of what she accused me of was true and that I would be happy to go back up to the salon. She started saying I was childish and a liar and then got quiet. Then a man gets on the phone who is slightly calmer. I asked for his name and he told me "Mr. Hilley." He initially started out as the lady did accusing me of threatening the girl at the salon. I repeated what I told the woman about that it was all a lie and I would HAPPILY meet him as well as the police at the salon to review the video tape. After which, he cowardly ended up hanging up on me. This is where this terribly offensive harassment ended. With all this being said, I am now going to make it my mission for people to know how this business is run, managed and owned. And that I have NEVER in all my years ever been treated in such a foul manner by a business or the people that represent that business So to this I provide you with pics of my back and the establishment which is located at 200 Parkbrooke Dr. Suite 110 Woodstock, GA, 30189. I have been a member for over four years, and for the longest time I thought I was the reason I couldn't tan properly, but I realized it was the salon the whole time. I mainly used this location because it's closer to my house. The only upside is that they're open 24 hours, which is convenient. Unfortunately, several tanning beds are out of order, and the ones that do work either produce little to no results or cause irritation, like hives or burning. A few months ago, I walked in and it was over 80 degrees inside--literally a tanning sauna. Georgia gets extremely hot during the spring and summer, so walking into a tanning salon with no proper air conditioning was honestly miserable and uncomfortable. I asked one of the girls at the desk--can't remember her name, but she was friendly--and she gave me an embarrassed look, like they were "working on it." A couple of weeks later, they added fans, but all they did was blow hot air around. No real improvement. Another issue was the way sessions were handled. My sessions suddenly expired without me ever being warned, and the only solution offered was buying another expensive package--for beds that already barely worked. On top of that, you have to pay extra for 24-hour access, but the fingerprint entry system rarely works correctly. They do sell affordable lotions, which may be fine for beginners, but they almost never restock higher-end products. I even planned to splurge on a nicer lotion for my birthday, only to find the vending machine out of order at the Kennesaw location. I was so frustrated. Long story short, I bought sessions, no one told me they would expire, and when I came in, they said they were gone. The whole experience felt very shady and unprofessional. After all of this, I switched to Palm Beach Tan. I paid a little more, but it was absolutely worth it--best tan I've ever had, no burns, cleaner facilities, and an overall more upbeat and relaxing environment.

The spray technician was super sweet and made me feel really comfortable while I was getting the spray. I use the spray tan booth. I usually go the Suwanee location which is close to my work and have been going to that location for a year. Unfortunately, at the store in Kennesaw, the spray tan does not develop. The last 3 times I have gotten a spray tan at the Kennesaw location, my tan has not developed normally. I always use the dark solution and mix with iolite. When the tan develops, it is barely a tan at all and what tan there is fades away in a day or so. I do not have this issue at all at the other location in Suwanee. I am used to developing a dark bronzy color that looks fantastic. I sadly cannot visit this location anymore and I do not recommend it to anyone. As well, I am a premium member and am supposed to get a 20% discount on products, specifically the bronzer solutions that you add to the spray tan solution, and this location refuses to give the 20% discount. I was told when I signed up with PBT a year ago that I would always receive the 20% discount at any location. Not the case in Kennesaw! Sadly, even if they did decide to give me the discount, I can no longer visit the most convenient location and have to drive 20 to 30 minutes to get the closest one to me, because the spray tan booth does not work.
