This is my favorite ice skating rink in the area. While the facility may be a little old, most of the staff here are very friendly and helpful. My kid has been taking skating lessons here for a while, and she enjoyed it! The instructors carefully assess each student's skill levels and make adjustment appropriately. For example, although all the first timers are supposed to start with the tot 1 or beginner session, once the instructors had a chance to assess each student's skill level, they will place the students in the more suitable level/class. Iceland is a old and small rink. The ice is pretty rough because of the high traffic. Rental shoes are smelly and some are in bad shapes. If this is not only one within the neighborhood, I may not pick this place. I'd been Iceland for almost a year because of the kid's skating lessions. The skate lesson here is generally about $100. Instructors are good. They are great for kids. My daugther had a birthday party once. They charge $110 for a hour session with 4-hours free skate for 10 people. You bring your own food and drink and they let you to have a room. I don't recommend it because the room is very small. But kids loves it. Tuesday family skate nights are always packed. The parking lot was almost packed if you are late. Don't count on street parking, because there is none. Overall this is only rink within the area for the price. I have good memories of playing pee wee hockey here. It's where I got started from roller hockey to ice hockey. I'm thankful for my parents for driving me here all the time all the way from Pittsburg, where we used to live. When I was younger, I didn't know any better. I didn't know that the ice was smaller than the standard NHL size and that the ice conditions weren't that great. I also didn't quite understand that the boards are pretty bad and any passes on the ice that hit the board will cause a puck to flutter around. As I got older, the place has aged a bit. It's still a very charming ice rink. It's good for the community and for indoor ice sports in general. The staff that works here is what you expect from an ice rink - they seem pretty nice. There are folks in here that have complained about ice conditions. It might be a function of the humidity in the building. I don't know how to control that, but that's usually a big precursor to lots of snow on the ice surface. This place is A-OK. Go Blue Devils! read more

PRO: 1) One of the larger ice rinks in the bay Area 2) Although they never have anyone on the ice enforcing the rules, the flow of people is good, and I rarely have problems with people dashing perpendicular into the flow or standing still in the middle of the flow. 3) Good place to exercise. 4) After a complaint last year, they have installed a new water fountain, it's very nice and I like it. 5) After a complaint last year, they have installed odor control devices in the urinals, bathrooms seem cleaner now. NEUTRAL: 1) Staff has been reluctant to resurface the ice last year during crowded public sessions when the ice got chewed up fast, hopefully they're more receptive now. 2) No lockers for public use, but people leave their things under the benches. I haven't heard or experienced theft at this facility, so it's not that big a deal. The people visiting the ice rink in the Dublin area doesn't typically have the type who might steal, unlike in San Francisco... CON: 1) It's an old ice rink and the interior design hasn't saw much improvement so the benches, walls and floors look ragged, chipped, rusted and old, it's not that bad but I can't say I expect them to compete with other venues like Shark's Ice. The ceiling inside the rink could use some maintenance, lots of peeling mylar protection, rusting pipes, etc. Not the prettiest of sights, especially compared to Moscone Ice Rink, but it's great for exercise and general skating. The price went up last year, but it's still cheaper than other Bay Area places. $7 for admission, and $3 for skate rental, you can bring your own skates and just pay for $7 entry fee. Don't go here!! The rink is pretty dirty and the ice quality is poor as they don't keep it cold enough and have huge gaps leading outside. They have some terrible staff working there including some of their coaches. The cashier girl will roll her eyes at you and ignore you and is not nice. Everything here is also really small and outdated and the parking is a nightmare. The way it's operated is ridiculous and some serious changes need to be made. A lot of the coaches here are also very rude and entitled and will come up to you and tell you to get off the ice rink if your not skating fast enough. They only have one rink that's pretty small compared to most so if your a figure skater wanting to train here, just know they barely have any freestyles that are at good times and when they do they are packed with people. Also, they are constantly having accidents here!! Both times i've been here the ambulance was called and instead of having people get off the ice they just told them to go in the other side. They don't have any helmets or protective gear you could rent and don't have any ice walkers for people that don't know how to skate (they don't even have buckets) . Really disappointing how they allow their staff to behave so unprofessionally, how they keep it so dirty, and won't update ANYTHING. Go to Fresno or San Jose if you can read more

This rink is horrible! A bad attitude all around. The skating director is very unorganized and very rude to say the least. I have two major issues with encounters at this little rink with a bad reputation that precedes itself. My young daughter is taking skating lessons there. The skating director was Ill prepared for these kids and added to the unprofessionalism with her disrespectful attitude. The class' first lesson they did only 2 passes on the rink then it was time to go. This experience with the rink has been so disappointing. My other encounter is of a family member , who is a trained ice skater, visiting from another town going to Dublin Iceland to skate only to be shunned not on one occasion but 3different occasions. Not one person had the professionalism or decency to introduce themselves or welcome her. Shame on you all..and i add insecure. It seems as though the many coaches at this facility are unapproachable and snotty. Maybe this is due to a lack of leadership or the fact that coaches only pay attention to those that are paying them for their private sessions and their egos. This place is very nice and well kept. It's quite large too. Definitely something fun to do for CHEAP if you are in the area. It only costed us $10 for two people, that is including the skate rentals. The staff here is very friendly and helpful too. Just remember to stay clean, wear thick socks and avoid the kids on the ice. Oh and try to ignore the showoffs who whizz past everyone and the girls who get in everyone's way for just long enough to take some duck-face photos for facebook. Have fun :D read more

I am very disappointed with this place. I have been going here since I was a little girl, I took my figure skating lessons here. But this changed everything: My birthday is coming up and I wanted to play some broomball here so I went in personally in January to make a reservation for the end of this month. I even had tried to email them about it as well, but received no respones and I still have the sent email. When I had talked to a guy in the front desk, he said that the February calendar wasn't out yet so he asked me to write down my information and he said he would be sure to add me in. Well, I went in 2 weekends ago to make sure that my reservations were in and so that I can put my deposit in because that's what it stated on the website. When I got there, a younger guy looked in the calendar and I saw that another party has been booked for that day and time that I had originally asked for. I was really upset and my boyfriend had asked if there was a way for them to come up with a solution. So then we talked to Chris and he said that he would call that party to see if they could push their party to an hour later or possible cut short the public skating. He asked for my number yet again and said he would call me back in 2 days. I waited those 2 days, even 3 days, but I still never heard a response. So I called him myself and asked if he came up with a solution to our broomball booking problem. Here is my phone "conversation" with him. Me: "Hi, this is Mimi calling about broomball for the 27th. I was wondering if you've came up with a solution." Chris: "No" Me: "ok..." Chris: "Call me back tomorrow. Bye" WTF! That is so unprofessional. How do you expect to run a business if you're not even willing to help your clients out. And I even went back again last weekend to see if he was there, but he was off. I asked the guy at the front desk if he knew anything about the situation, but he had no idea and neither did the kid hanging out with him. That guy then asked me write down my name and # again and said he would call me back. He obviously didn't. These people obviously don't care or even communicate with each other. I really had faith in him, but now I am going to Fremont even though it is more expensive, but at least they're more attentive unlike these Dublin people. This is regarding the front desk person who makes it impossible for you to find out how to make up for a missed class. If you give me a bad service or BS, I'll be sure to yelp about it. I missed a day of class and I asked the front desk person how to make up for it. He told me to come next Thursday to find out. So, the next Thurs after class I asked him and he said the exact same thing. I pointed that out to him and he immediately flustered. Someone's been slacking off and lying. I asked him for the schedule of when I can make up the class, and he said "I can't right now." The question is simple. How hard is it to answer? Also, the skating area is just in bad shape--the surface has so many dents that it is difficult to safely skate on. read more

I would give this rink 3stars but considering it is the largest and most well kept icerink i've seen in a long time that has not gone out of business i shall give it 4. Staff is nice enough and it is not busy. The ice really needs to be steamed more tho. I love this place! I moved to the Dublin area a few years ago and decided to put on a pair of skates again after a significant hiatus. I have a blast here! The ice is well maintained, the rental skates are always in good shape, the instructors and staff are friendly and helpful, and I don't consider $12 total for skates and several hours of rink time expensive at all. Less than a glass of wine. I don't know what the naysayers are bitching about. No, the place is not new, but so what - its not like there's an ice rink on every corner. I have both my kids in Learn to Skate classes here. At first, like other reviewers mentioned, I also thought the classes looked too crowded. But my kids have made great progress in class, so the size of the class doesn't bother me. My 4 yr old fell repeatedly the first several classes, but they taught him to pick himself up and after about 6 sessions, he was skating! I love it that they provide the skates, so I didn't have to go out and buy more equipment for another kids' activity. read more

We've had a great time at Dublin Iceland. My 6 yo son has done a few skating school sessions and I've been happy with it overall. Most of the teachers have been really good with the kids. There was one teacher who was a real jerk and I believe he is no longer teaching there. The staff is very kind and friendly even when the place is jammed with frantic parents trying to get their kids out on the ice on time for lessons! read more

I have been sending my twins to ice skating since they were almost 4. Yesterday they turn 5. They are not the best of ice skaters , took them a while to pass tot 1 and after 3 retry they still are in tot 2. I agree my kids are too young and they don't practice. My only concern is last time when they were accessed for skills the teacher said they need 2 more skills to pass the class and this time after 7 weeks of classes with same teacher , it says they don't know 5 skills. I am thinking that the skills she said they have last time and after doing same thing again for 7 weeks rather than improving they forgot those also. I wonder was she not paying attention this time or was she not paying attention last time. When asked she said were they in my class ....hahaha u don't even know who was in ur class , second thing she said i was more strict this time....oh please pay attention. My kids go to so many classes( swin, spanish, piano, art , ski,dance, gymnastics) and no matter the results this is the one of the class that they wanted to stop as they feel bored( this is the first time they said anything like that for a class) and i had decided no matter what the result is this is there last session But something i wanted to say to the director that we spend lot of time and effort and money and the quality of teacher is really bad . They all are great skaters but few really bad teachers .they don't pay attention and can't motivate kids and don't even know what kids need help with if they are struggling. Kudos to parents if the kids pass the level not teachers as i doubt the abilities as teachers If changes not done soon than she might run of out of option beside having the great rink might not help. This has been the place where I learned how to skate when I was a kid. Where I attended birthday parties for friends growing up. Where I played broomball in high school. Memories aside though, I have not been impressed with this rink. It seems like attendance is based more on convenience than overall experience. Service is OK. Rental skates are pretty beat up and really uncomfortable to skate in. And the ice is more bumpy than not. It hasn't changed at all since I was a kid. read more

Staff here is so friendly we had the opportunity to skate at Levi's stadium on the sharks stadium series ice but we didn't have skates we popped in to see if we could rent them for the special occasion and the wonderful staff lend us a couple pair of skates that was so nice. I was very excited to take my 5 year old here to learn skating, It did not take long for me to realize how poorly this place was being run. I wanted to get a private coach and left multiple messages for the ice skating school (Laura) but never got a call back. The Tots1 and Tots2 classes are taught by junior coaches and I found them to be dis-interested at best. With up to 13 kids in a class and 1 coach, you can guess the quality of coaching The Pre-Alpha class was taught by an "senior" coach who was indifferent and not very quick on her feet. Laura the director of the place is outright rude. I saw her yell at kids and teachers. Other parents that I spoke to - had similar issues with the management. This was the first rink that I played hockey at when I moved here. I figured that this was going to be the cream of the crop. Turns out, it is the bottom of the barrel. I give it props for having hockey, but that's about it. The arena is old (small and limited dressing rooms). Old everything and not a whole lot of energy or character. I guess there have been a bunch of figure skaters coming out of there, but I would never have guessed. There isn't too much activity going on there. read more

My kids really enjoys skating here, but they use the wall. Normally that is fine, people are nice and help them get by or go around, but today I am very disappointed. It's open skate on a holiday weekend and that shut down half the rink for a party of kids who don't know how to skate. That means have the wall is not available for kids to use, more people trying to share less space. They do nothing to control the teens who think they are pros and do jumps and spins in the middle of everyone. Probably going to go somewhere else next time. read more

I've been going to this rink for many years, it's now really showing its age. I'm guessing the owners just don't want to spend the money on its upkeep. I had a group of 10 people and almost all of us had problems with their skates. We went in at the 7:30 pm open skate to ice that was so rough it was like we were at the snow. I asked the staff about it and they said yeah they know but it wasn't going to be fixed until after we left! I guess the can't afford the gas!? Very hard to join a beginner class. They never have openings. I checked their class schedule multiple times. They have the dates released online and the availability closes the same day at times. The facilities is old and poorly maintained. Their teaching staff is good but the front desk is unfriendly. read more
