Dr. Bonavita is our primary care physician, and he is truly one of those doctors you feel incredibly fortunate to find. He is approachable, knowledgeable, caring, and genuinely a jack-of-all-trades. He listens, takes our concerns seriously, and does everything he can to address our needs himself. When a specialist is necessary, he makes the appropriate referral but remains involved and continues to support our care. One of the greatest strengths of this practice is that this level of care isn't limited to our primary physician. When Dr. Bonavita hasn't been available, we've seen several other providers within the practice, including Dr. Christopher Adiletta, Dr. Joseph Augustine, Dr. Nicholas Augustine, Dr. Paul Fiacco, Dr. James Tarala, Jonathan Sicilia, FNP-C, and Ruth McDonald, PA-C. These are just some of the providers we've had experience with, but our experiences have been so positive that when we're in a pinch and Dr. Bonavita isn't available, I actually look for these providers because they seem to mirror his thoughtful, attentive style of patient care. That speaks volumes about the practice as a whole. They are a network of providers with many different strengths, and they seem to use those strengths collectively to provide a remarkably consistent level of primary care. We originally received our own care here and eventually moved our children from their pediatric practice after struggling to find the same level of care and continuity we had experienced ourselves. Having our entire family cared for within the same practice has been incredibly valuable. Our primary physician knows us and our family history, so there is greater visibility into aspects of our own health that may also be relevant to our children's care. That continuity and bigger-picture understanding of our family is something we deeply value. After decades of receiving care here, I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for knowledgeable, compassionate providers and, perhaps most importantly, a consistent level of primary care for themselves and their family. I have nothing but great things to say about Oneida Healthcare, especially Dr. Vanderhoff, Dr. Mena, and the ICU team. In particular, Brooke was wonderful in her care for my husband and my family as we dealt with this unexpected emergency. When his condition worsened, Dr. Vanderfhoof facilitated his transfer to Upstate, where the staff also cared for him with skill and compassion until his death. I cannot recommend them more highly. We were on vacation, in a strange town and a strange hospital, and we felt cared for and loved while we were there.

He explained everything thoroughly and things went exactly as he said they would. He also followed up right after the surgery. Dr. James Dennison performed the surgery without a hitch. The nurses and the PT staff took wonderful care of me as well. Now, its up to me to do my physical therapy.

When you call there, they sound bored and bothered when answering the phone. When you go there, they act like you are bothering them. If you happen to call and have to leave a message, they don't call you back. My son had to have a physical for college and for some strange reason, they sent him to Manlius. So we go all the way out to Manlius to have it done and are told they can't do it because he is not a patient so, I go right back to Canastota-Lenox and the Head nurse says "OH well, there is nothing we can do." This was just days before he had to leave for college. So, they made the mistake and didn't want to do anything to fix it.
