When our 7-year-old passed away recently, I knew we might need a driver on the day of the funeral. We were all far too emotional to drive, and it was going to be a very long day, with the burial site an hour away. I immediately thought of Julie. She was always so kind, and if I was going to give anyone my business, I wanted it to be her. I was also a little curious to see Julie in that setting because I had never seen her serious--she's always the most bubbly person, making funny jokes and being super fun to be around. But this was a very sad day for us. On the day of the funeral, Julie arrived early. I was crying until I was supposed to be ready and getting ready when I should have been leaving. Julie was extremely patient and kind and never made me feel rushed. After the funeral, we drove an hour away, and she was so compassionate and easy to be around. That was saying a lot at the time because, honestly, almost everyone felt hard to be around. She was so patient waiting for us and offered the kids drinks at the burial. We ended up being way over schedule, but she never once brought it up or made us feel bad. She waited patiently everywhere we went, helped us carry all of our things, and kept us on track. I already knew she was kind, and I knew she was funny, but I could never have imagined having anyone else there playing the role she did that day. She was incredible. After the day we spent with her, I now consider her a lifelong friend. If I could have sent a $1,000 tip, it would have been worth every penny, but funerals are extremely expensive, and unfortunately, I can't do that. So I just want to highly recommend her instead. If you want a driver who is super fun, she's your girl (trust me, you can't shock her!). But she is also amazing for something as personal and difficult as what we were dealing with. I truly can't recommend her enough. If you are going to spend money on a driver, please make it her.

Rates and availability of cruise rooms and especially air flights change daily. Changes had to be made, but Jessica did her best to arrange both cruise and air to all of our satisfaction. Cape Fear Coach Lines does an annual Christmas Shopping trip to NYC from Wilmington usually around…read morethe first weekend in Dec. I missed out last year and was determined to do it this year. I researched early and bought "early bird" tickets in Sep, saving $50 per ticket! According to the itinerary, we were to leave at 8pm on a Friday night, arrive in NYC at 9am Saturday morning, and shop & tour for 14 hrs in the city until we returned to the bus by 11pm that night, so we could be back in Wilmington by 11 am Sunday morning!!! Cape Fear Coach Lines were TRUE professionals. They stuck to their itineraries and we arrived and departed on time!!! A smooth operation!!! They had 2 buses. One was for people who wanted lights out by 11pm on the first night of the journey. The other bus was the "party bus" that preferred their lights out at 1 am. I chose the former, but be prepared for a sleep deprived trip! Even with lights out by 11pm, there will be people chatting till the wee hours of the morning. Plus,the buses will show a movie & play bus Bingo for door prizes until lights out. Cape Fear Coach Lines recommended bringing pillows and a blanket, and a cooler for drinks and snacks. Do it! They turn the heat down low after 11pm, so the blanket will come in handy. I brought a neck pillow & a sleep mask & it suited my needs perfectly. My seat mate brought a standard size pillow and was able to prop it against the window. The bus does not provide food or beverages, so having a small cooler handy was another great recommendation. However, the bus does stop twice on the way there & on the return. The first was for 15 min around 2 am to stretch our legs, get last minute snacks, smoke (as needed) & use a real bathroom. (Note: The bus has a tiny bathroom. Bring hand sanitizer and wipes bc the existing supply does not last). The second stop is around 6 am for about 30 min. This was enough time to change (I wore comfy pjs en route), brush our teeth, etc. and grab a biscuit. We were dropped off in front of Macy's @ 9 am, and were told to return at the same spot at 10:30 pm for an 11 pm departure. We were able to leave personal belongings on the bus. We just didn't have access to them during our 14 hrs in the city. It was a great trip, ran by a FIRST CLASS operation. I recommend researching the city, so you optimize your 14 hrs well. To see NYC at Christmas time was spectacular. The tree at Rockefeller is truly a sight to behold, not to mention all the colorful window dressings, and outdoor decorations! I was so happy Cape Fear Coach Lines does this (and apparently provide Spring and Fall trips to NYC too!)!! Our bus drivers & trip coordinator Barry & Michael were FANTASTIC!!!! For the price, this trip was SOOO worth it. Definitely, put this on your to-do list for next year!

It is decorated in a French theme and has a lot of charm throughout. We were lucky enough to stay in the room adjacent to the sitting room. It was very spacious and had a huge bathroom with a claw foot tub and pedestal sink. The locations of the French House is also great. It is in a historic part of Wilmington and taking a walk around the neighborhood shows how rich in history this part of town is. It is also walking distance (4 blocks) from the river and a quick 15 minute ride to Wilmington Beach. What makes The French House 5 stars is that it is run by a wonder hostess, Janice. She is kind and accommodating to her guests' needs. We arrived and found a fruit plate and mini refrigerator stocked with waters and soda. She gave us maps of downtown and recommendations of where to eat. She knew our names before we even introduced ourselves and always made us feel at home. When I burned my feet at the beach, she searched high and low for some aloe, even making phone calls to neighbors to find some. The breakfasts she provided always included some fresh berries, yogurts, homemade scones, and some sort of pastry (one day we had croissants, one day we had blueberry strudel). My only wish is that there were some kind of protein provided! We had a truly wonderful stay here at the French House. My only complaint was the other guest that was staying there at the same time as us...she had a guest stay late one night and rather than sitting on the front porch or in her room, she sat in the sitting room right in front of our room and kept us up for a good portion of the night. However, I will still give this place 5 stars because Janice and the house itself were excellent. We will be back :)

The gate agent was able to call them directly from my gate and let them know I'd be walking out. The driver was pulling up as I walked out so I did not have to wait at all. Smooth ride to the hotel. I was able to text to schedule my 3:45am pick up for the next morning. The driver in the morning arrived a few minutes early and again another smooth ride to the airport. The vans were clean and the drivers were great. It was so nice to get such good service in an otherwise kind of stressful situation of being stranded. Would recommend.
