Hello:
Triple R Mitigation of Bozeman, and its owner Don Dickson, are utterly unprofessional, its workers are aggressive and threatening, and its substandard practices jeopardize the health and safety of its customers.
In July of 2019, we hired Triple R Mitigation and Don Dickson to install a radon mitigation system in our new home.
On 7/31/19, a 2-man crew came to our house to install the system. At that time, the system was not installed properly, resulting in a very loud sound and heavy vibrations inside of the house. In addition, the electrical wiring was poorly installed. But most worrisome was that the system was not installed according to federal standards, with the exhaust pipe being too close to a window.
On the day of the installation, I was told by the crew foreman that I would be hearing from the owner, Don Dickson, about how they would return to fix the above mentioned issues, but I never heard anything. Instead, I was sent an invoice about three weeks later, on 8/21/19.
At that point, I called Don Dickson and left a message, asking to discuss these matters so that the work could be completed, the safety issues fixed, and I could then pay the invoice. But Don Dickson never got back to me.
Over the course of the next 8 months, I repeatedly reached out to Don Dickson to try to get him to come finish the job, which he repeatedly ignored. I would occasionally receive an invoice reminder from him, at which point I would immediately reply that I would be happy to pay him once he finishes the work. Don Dickson would also occasionally respond saying that he would like to come finish the uncompleted project.
At one point, around Christmas, out of the blue, a worker called to say he would be coming out to inspect the system and assess how they were going to fix the issues and finish the job. He came, we had a long conversation, and he said he would talk to the owner, Don Dickson, about how to proceed and then get back to me. But I never heard from anyone.
In March of 2020, I reported Triple R Mitigation to the City of Bozeman, and discovered that they did not have a current business license with the city.
Finally, on 6/3/20, I decided to make a gesture of good faith and reach out one last time to Don Dickson to give him the chance to finish the job, after which I'd gladly pay his bill. I sent him an email, and he replied, agreeing to finally fix the work he had failed to complete all those months ago. We set up a time for his crew to come out, which they did on 6/9/20.
Don Dickson showed up first, and for some inexplicable reason, especially in this time of social distancing, he brought along his girlfriend. Shortly after, his 2-man crew arrived, and we inspected the electrical wiring and the exhaust pipe, and decided on a couple of options we could try to get it to code. Don then left, and the crew started work. Very quickly, the foreman, Daniel, determined that he did not know how to attach the pipe extension to the exterior wall, and that it might be smarter to put it in a different place. I called Don to talk to him about that, and he began yelling at me, saying we agreed on a solution and now I was breaking that agreement. I told him that his own worker said he did not know how to install the pipe, and wondered if we could find another solution. Don then said to just let the crew do their work, as agreed. And he hung up on me.
Meanwhile, the crew went back in the basement to fix the electrical wiring, but it was clear they were rushing through it, carelessly tearing our drywall and caulk, and slapping together wires in a slip-shod, unprofessional manner, and not to code.
When I confronted them about it, they started packing up. They then proceeded to abandon the job site, with exposed live wires, a hole in the exterior wall, a disassembled radon fan, and a pipe dangling off the side of the house.
I was in shock. We have 2 small children, and we were incredibly worried for their safety, and ours.
Frantic, I made repeated attempts to reach out to Don that afternoon. When the crew finally returned, Daniel, the foreman, started swearing at me and calling me names. At least one of the crew was also smoking marijuana, which I don't have a problem with, but not on a job, and not around my kids.
When I asked them to put on masks and adhere to pandemic safety protocols, Daniel refused, calling COVID fake. He also made racist comments about a political sign in our window.
At that point, I walked away and went inside, since I felt threatened, and not at all comfortable letting these guys in my house. I am now desperately scrambling to find a contractor to come to the house to fix the problems, old and new, created by Triple R Mitigation.
This company, and its owner Don Dickson, are unprofessional, and put our family in danger. I urge anyone thinking about hiring a radon mitigation company in Gallatin Valley to stay away from Triple R Mitigation. read more
