I have used big sky chimney in the past and came back. Not all services are the same. The big difference is what they can do. Some company's just clean. Charged $1300 for an inspection on my house built in 2016 by a reputable builder and claimed several issues. Quoted over $38,000 to rebuild. Thinking this was outrageous, I obtained a second opinion from a reputable chimney contractor who disagreed with findings. Needless to say, I cannot recommend them. Beware!!!! read more

Charged me $600 for a chimney inspection, which was supposed to be applied toward the work. Scheduled the work, and sent a deposit. Big Sky Chimney then canceled the work. Said they lost workers due to covid. Never offered to return the deposit. Their estimate was also excessively high, based on local comparisons. read more

Pete from Big Sky Chimney came to clean our wood stove/chimney this morning. Pete was in his COVID-19 mask and layer out tarps to keep our floors clean. While cleaning, he explained what he was doing and it turned out to be very educational for me. When he was done, the stove was virtually spotless and the glass on the door was clean and clear again. Pete cleaned everything up, but as near as I can tell, he didn't make any mess to have to clean up. I will certainly have Big Sky Chimney back in the future to take care of our stove. read more

Our appointment was booked in a professional manner and they showed up on time! Great attention to detail was taken and we really appreciated the cleanliness of the job performed. Left my fireplace in worse condition than when they showed up. Never returned to finish the job. Mt wood stove still doesn't work right.

Although they are nice, they did a horrible job. Sent an inexperienced guy who took our thermostat out and just left it. Plus, didn't clean the whole chimney, top of chimney was clogged after they left and smoked came pouring in our house. If you want your chimney done thoroughly, don't call them. They do not clean the top of the chimney nor check the cap. read more

We recently had a lot of work done by Big Sky Chimney and his crew, and we are quite pleased with the results. We bought a house knowing that the chimney was not operational, and would likely need to be removed (Pete had done an inspection about a year before the sale of the house). The chimney was cracked in multiple places and was quite wobbly, there was no question it needed to be torn down and rebuilt. We contacted Big Sky Chimney to start the process and Pete remembered the house from a year ago! We scheduled the work, and I spoke with Pete on several occasions about different stoves, he was very knowledgeable and steered me away from a cheap model I found on the internet. I ended up buying a stove directly through him since his prices were fair and shipping was free. When Pete and his crew came to do work, they were efficient, quiet, respectful and kept us in the loop the entire process. He showed me where the side of the house was even scorched from where there was a chimney fire in the past Things went quick, they cleaned up after every step, and gave us options along the way. Professional and honest based on my experience. Though the part I needed cost more than they originally quoted they adjusted their rates so that my fee was what I was originally quoted. They also identified and fixed an mistake on the installation of the stovepipe up on the roof that another chimney cleaner/inspector didn't catch. read more
