We were in town to celebrate my daughers graduation from OU and could only find a house to rent in this area and decided to stop by for breakfast. I am so glad we did. I am going to say that this is the best breakfast I have ever had. They serve Dirty Girl coffee, which is a local brand and it is incredible. Our party ordered Eggs your way, the Sweet & Savory, Build your Own burrito, French Toast, and I had a stack of pancakes. Everyone cleaned their plate and the pancakes were incredible. The service was good as well, but they are very busy, so you will need to be patient. If you go for breakfast, you should get there not much later than open because they fill up fast. It would be worth the drive from Athens to have a breakfast of this caliber. read more

Great country restaurant. I had lunch and breakfast here recently. As advertised, the meats are sourced locally. I'll bet most everything is locally sourced and if not, it surely tasted as if it were. The staff is fast and friendly. Very attentive. Love the motif, as if somebody grabbed the kitchen table and chairs from not only your mom's house, but a few of your friend's mom's kitchens as well and I mean that in the most positive sense. This area of Ohio has a lot of history that you'd know little about unless you went to school in this immediate area. This was my first visit to the Triple Nickel Diner and I was pleased with the friendly and attentive service, tasty food with generous portions, and mellow and folksy atmosphere. I ordered an omelet with sausage and cheese, with fried potatoes and toast with delicious jam. This Diner seems to be a favorite of motorcycle enthusiasts, but all the patrons were peaceful and courteous. Very good value for the money - and I hope to visit again soon. read more

We have been here a few times and it has been hit or miss on the food. It is definitely our of the way but can be worth the drive depending on the day. The inside is very clean and inviting. We really like what they are trying to do with the farm to table meals. Stick with the normal menu and you should get a decent meal (burgers, etc). Once I had the special catfish and it was overly spiced. It was so salty I could barely eat it. I will eat about anything but this was something I couldn't eat. They have local desserts and use local ingredients. Also, it can be busy on a nice weekend evening when lots of motorcyclist are traveling 555. read more

So let me just tell you this place is amazing...where to start..!? I went kayaking up at Burr Oak and a friend recommended this place to me. It was on my way home, I was starving and let's be honest, she sold me just by telling me the history of the place. It's nestled in Chesterhill and it's this cute little quaint diner. They have outside seating and a few tables inside. The bar seats were available so that's where I posted up. I ended up ordering an angus cheeseburger with a side salad instead of fries, and a glass of sangria. This is a farm to table restaurant, all the meats are from local butchers and the steak of the day varies, depending on what the butcher brings in. All of the vegetables are grown by the owner in a garden that is right behind the restaurant. So everything is made to order and extremely fresh. And man can you tell! From the sangria, to the pies and cookies, everything is locally sourced and to me that's pure bliss. The owner Kathy is a wonderful human being, you can definitely feel the love she puts in to making this restaurant exactly what the locals (and you) need. This is an "off the beaten path" gem. In a word, excellent. It's about 18 miles NE of Athens at the intersection of Rt. 377 and Rt. 555, hence the name Triple Nickel. There isn't a permanent sign out front, so you have to keep your eyes peeled. It's about 200 ft. down High Street off the main drag. Look for the sandwich board sign on the main drag with an arrow that's displayed when they're open. The place is really clean and bright. It's all been redone. The food is fresh and sourced locally. Bacon and sausage are exceptional. Eggs are great and fresh. Home fries are traditional. You can get the home fries with gravy or without. The breakfast even comes with a pancake or a piece of French toast. They get a lot of their meats (at least the sausage and bacon) from a place called Little Dog in McConnelsville that has a great reputation for meat. They also serve dinner and have steaks on the menu that from talking with other patrons are outstanding. One guy told me the pork chop dinner was the best he ever had. This place is worth the ride. First time customer- On a trip to south east Ohio my wife and I found this great, little restaurant with great big flavor and personality. The staff and management were great. It is off the beaten path but worth the drive. I enjoyed the Indian Legend Burger which is Bison and it was cooked perfectly. They have a number of vegetarian options in addition to your standard meat dishes. Found this place thanks to Yelp while staying in the area for a weekend. This restaurant was really nice! Not quite what I would've expected given the "diner" name but very good food and a pleasant ambiance. It's obvious that a lot of care and love has gone into getting this restaurant going and I hope it has a lot of success! Good sized servings, my pork chop was a very good and the couple bites I had from another of our party's bison burger were also good. Fresh cut fries were excellent. I went there to get some pie and coffee with my sister. The place looked really nice. They put a lot of work into it. I got pecan pie and ice cream. Seemed like the pie was store bought and the ice cream was actually from Aldi. Nothing against Aldi but I would expected a little more. They have internet there for your phone but non is offered unless you ask. most places have the password plastered on the wall somewhere in plain site. Coffee was fresh but weak (hopefully not Aldi). I had to as ink for creamer that was not offered. The place was very clean. Someone that looked he might be the owner had taken a permanent seat at the bar making it hard for someone to sit there with 2 or more guests. Never a plus when staff or owner stay perched in a prime spot in a restaurant. They are closed Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.. which I think is a real killer. It should be open all the the time to build traffic, not convenient hobby for the owner. I would be there regularly if it were not closed half the week. They need to go eat at Miller's Chicken in Athens and take a lesson from them. Offer something consistent good that you can't get anywhere else and the people will come. I would really like to see this place do well. They obviously put a ton of effort into making the place look clean and nice. read more
