I knew when they had to keep coming back to "fix" what was wrong; large bubbles, two-tone colors, uneven texture and later hair line cracks down the middle, I had made a huge error. They offered to keep coming back, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, then offered insurance after I got three estimates. I was done with it all. My error was in paying the full amount. My brother visited from out of state during the summer and was appalled seeing the inferior job and did what he could to make improvements with limited time. It's obvious when someone knows what they're doing. Lesson learned. Hire reputable pros and get what you pay for.

He said I needed a new thermostat, which he installed. Problem 1. I was charged $169.50 for the service call (which was okay) plus $157.50 for a simple, non-programmable thermostat. I found the exact same thermostat for sale elsewhere for $42. Problem 2. After the tech left, I noticed smudges and scratches on the thermostat. He installed a used thermostat! (I guess that is why it didn't come with a box or owners manual.) Problem 3. The thermostat did not work properly. Thompson sent me a replacement (a new one this time), but that one didn't work, either. Problem 4. When I told Thompson that the new thermostat also didn't work, they said they could send a tech out to see what the problem was, but that I would be charged another service call fee. Problem 5. Instead of paying another service fee, I bought another very similar thermostat (but different brand) for less than $30 and installed it myself. It works fine. Of course, I don't need the defective thermostat that I got from Thompson, but Thompson would not allow me to return that thermostat for a refund. If this hadn't happened to me, I never would have imagined that any business would treat a long time customer like Thompson treated me. Furthermore, Thompson has been totally unapologetic for this episode.
