Always friendly service and reasonable availability of services. I've gotten my haircut, and my daughter has gotten color services (partial). The salon area is nice and big with the waiting area in the center and there is no strong salon smell due to the openness of the space. Comfy couches, a small retail area with trendy clothes, candles, and accessories - everything you don't need but will definitely want! The coffee and tea station had coffee but no cups and didn't appear 'stocked', so I wasn't sure if that was for customers or staff only. However, we were offered waters when we checked in. Front desk is not attended at times but it seems everyone helps jump in when needed. The stylists seem to love the owner and the opportunities she gives them. Trio is a wonderful salon. The owner and her team make some pretty good things happen for their clients. I brought my daughter for her birthday and Clare gave her everything she asked for and more. She wanted more natural sun kissed blonde (her hair has darkened in the last few years) and Clare suggested a partial balayage with a few foils. I hear this technique is called twilighting and is the predicted to be the rage for 2020. She got it done on the 4th so does this make her a trendsetter?!? lol Her tones are really beautifully blended and not streaky or chunky at all. She gave her that money piece (face frame highlight, which we hear is quite in right now too, if you are looking to go blonde or add so lightness to your browns. Pricing is reasonable and they use Redken and Olaplex, which is why we sought them out. I liked my daughter's hair so much I booked an appointment too! tip- parking lot is interesting to get to and weird to park in, but has a decent amount of spaces. read more

Came here in February and saw Emma for a partial foil, tone and cut and didn't realize I was "double booked" so Emma had to pop back and forth between me and her other client. Long story short, I had bleach on the back of my head for an hour by the time she was done placing the foils on the top of my head. I was filled with anxiety the whole time. Color came out ok but the cut was AWFUL. Choppy, blunt and uneven. I asked to speak with a manager and was told by another stylist that "there is no manager" and " we all double book, it's not a big deal". Then, I told my stylist Beth exactly what I was looking for (first time seeing her or being in this salon) and within 30 seconds she already knew what she was going to do. To say she didn't disappoint would be the understatement of the century. She AMAZED!!!!! She had my foil PERFECT, the color was EXACTLY what I was wanting and she was super quick to boot! Denise has been my mother's hair stylist for several years (over 7 years). Since Denise opened her own salon, the customer care has suffered dramatically. My mother has very, very short hair, and came in for a quick highlight and hair cut. After leaving my mom's hair with formula under the hair dryer and waiting afterwards for over 45 minutes - 1 hour, before my mom got up and asked the receptionist if everything was ok. From my mother's positioning under the heat lamp, Denise was chatting with people, rather than paying attention. Once Denise brought her back to her styling station, it was extremely noticeable that my mom's hair had been overly treated - her hair is extremely short and didn't need to have chemicals sitting on it for over an hour. Denise never apologized, and acted like she didn't do anything wrong. When my mom went up to pay, she was shocked to realize that the charge for my mother's fried hair was going to cost $200 (not including tip). This amount was never approved by my mother -- she typically charged $120. For $200, you wouldn't expect to leave with severely damaged her hair. When my mom called Denise twice about her concerns, she never bothered to call back. I truly believe that Denise has an extraordinary skill for cut and color. I previously worked with Denise at another salon and had never seen her behave this way. I am extremely disappointed in Denise, because she is WAY above this behavior. All she needed to do was call my mom back in, do a consultation and use products/treatments to restore her damaged hair. On a positive note, my mom had a wonderful experience with the receptionist. She showed respect and concern. A few years ago, I referred everybody to her (including my mom) and I'm disappointed that I can no longer trust her quality of care. My mother is extremely forgiving, and a simple "I'm sorry, let me fix it" was all that my mom needed. We both love Denise, and this makes my heart sick. read more

I called and asked if they had a stylist that cut curly hair. I called because many places that don't offer that service would tell me so, so when this place said "yes" I scheduled an appointment. The atmosphere was nice and the people were nice, which is why I gave 2 stars. This review has NOTHING to with service. This is simply a friendly curly girl WARNING. I really wanted to like this place but when the "curly hair" stylist that I requested started cutting in layers, I knew she had never actually done curly cuts before, but I let her continue because my kid was super excited to be there. I even spoke to her about how much her hair actually shrinks and she nodded in agreement, she even made a comment about how her hair was passed her hips. My kid now has uneven hair everywhere!!! As she proceeded to cut her CURLY hair, she was COMBING it! She distorted all of her curly pattern which made it difficult to actually cut the curls. If you distort the curl you are unable to see the curls to cut! My kid wanted curly bangs, we even showed the photo to the stylist several times and she said "I think it's a bad idea", when I wish she would have said "I'm not confident in cutting her bangs" it would have changed the entire situation. I felt like I got distracted, turned away for a moment to find a better photo, looked back at my kid and My heart sank! She cut her dry, frizzy, shrunken hair (SIDE NOTE: she didn't use ANY styling products on her, only rinsed her hair which rinsed all of her products that holds moisture into her hair out) . I actually tried to style it when we made it home, but it was bad. The kids at her school are very honest and she has to go to school like this! She came home almost in tears. All of this could have been avoided if I was told that "No, we don't do curly cuts" and I would have driven to Bellevue. I'll post a photo of what my kid wanted and what she got. As we were leaving the stylist said "her hair is tight curls"... that was the first time anyone has ever said that about my bi racial child. She has 3a/3b curls. It doesn't matter how "tight" her curls are, if you know how to cut curly hair then it shouldn't be an issue. read more

After trying so many stylists in the area (and giving each of them multiple chances to get it right), I finally decided to give Trio Salon a try. I explained to the owner what I wanted and explained that I have fine hair so I wanted someone specifically trained or experienced with fine hair. She set me up with Hailey and I can't say enough good things about Hailey's work. She listened to me and acted accordingly. I no longer have bad hair days because the cuts have been perfect. She was able to brighten my hair to my liking without frying my hair or it being dull afterwards. She has also cut my husband's and daughter's hair and they look great too. We're all super picky people when it comes to our hair so to say that all three of us are extremely satisfied should say a lot about how skilled she is. Five stars for both the salon as a whole, and my wonderful stylist, Denise Newbury! Trio Salon recently opened in Arlington, and the atmosphere of the salon is just perfect. It is tastefully decorated, they carry great hair products, and the chairs/wash sinks are the most comfortable I've ever experienced! No more kink in the neck and trying to hold your head in an awkward position! The salon also uses Olaplex, which protects your hair through the whole coloring process and is seriously an amazing product. I've had the product added in my last few colors and it's incredible the difference it makes in the health of my hair post-color. Denise has been my stylist for about 3 years now. She is so warm and welcoming, and hilarious! There's never a dull moment in her chair. She is a master at her craft and she puts her all into every single color and/or cut she does. I have had long hair for what feels like forever, and was ready for a change this summer and wanted to take some length off. I was hesitant though because change is one of those things that is good in theory, but can be overwhelming in practice for me. I told her what I wanted though and knew I couldn't have been in better hands to get it done. She got my color and my cut absolutely perfect! I am so in love with it! And her knowing that I am someone who can't do much in the way of styling my hair, she gave me a style that is perfectly manageable for my capabilities. It's been a week since my appointment and I still can't stop looking in the mirror and I get so many compliments! While I'm partial to Denise, it needs to be said that ALL of the stylists in Trio Salon are amazingly talented. They are a fabulous group of women and they work as a team. Called for two appointments and was immediately given a schedule and confirmation by Caitlyn. My cousin and I arrived 20 minutes before our appointment and Caitlyn offered us a beverage (coffee, tea or bottled water). The salon is clean and spacious. The chairs are spread out by groups of 2s and 3s so you don't feel like you are too close to the next person! There is a waiting area by the reception as well as a sitting area in the center of the large room. Christine was my hairstylist and she was friendly, and engaging. She offered to wash my hair and gave me a trim - this all took about half an hour. The salon also carries hair products including my favorite Pureology and they offer eyelash service as well. They are open Monday through Saturday and located directly across from the Arlington Airport. read more

I showed the girl a very specific picture of how I wanted my hair colored. Apparently she was the best for doing ombres baylage.. I told her I wanted the blonde to start half way and pointed where to start it. My hair is almost a dark brown but I've had a professional make my hair have bleach blonde in it with the first visit with no problem. One she started the blonde at the very tip top of my hair. My scalp.. when it was done, the blonde wasn't blonde it was a dark caramel color and my whole head looks as if it has a few different shades all over. It looks like I asked for a few highlights. I still had to pay full price as well. Very disappointing. The lady was very nice but other than that I'm not happy. read more

I had a great expierence here. I came in with super black hair, wanting to dye it red, something I had been told by other salons is very difficult, if not impossible to do. I told Amber what I wanted, showed her pictures and she was more than happy to work with me! We bleached the black out of my hair and then put red dye onto it. I was very nervous about bleaching my hair, but it is so soft and healthy now. Amber did a great job transforming my hair, I've gotten so many compliments and I'm in love with it. My appointment actually ended up going slightly over the time limit it was scheduled for, but I never felt rushed or like I was causing a problem, and I really appreciated them taking the extra step to make sure my hair was perfect. Dennise has been doing my hair off and on for 15 years and usually my hair turns out amazing and beautiful the last time I was in I did not have a good experience my hair didn't turn out as it usually did and the color was off the roots are dark I couldn't tell when I left the blowout style made it look really cute after washing it I could see Clearly what was wrong when I reached out to Dennise and let her know I ask for her to fix it she did not respond right away and when she did she said she would get back to me - after over a week I sent her a picture of my hair she had said that if I wanted my roots done and my hair to look the way it has always looked in the past it would cost me more money - I had already paid her $125 for the color and $65 for the cut When I had said I needed my hair fixed regardless she told me she would get back to me when she had time I reached out to her a couple days later and let her know that with the amount of money I spent at her salon my hair should be looking fabulous and I should not have to wait so long for her to make it right - she then told me she did not want me to come back to her salon and would refund my money .
