Both my stray cat and I had our first ever (fantastic) veterinarian appointment at CHS Harbor…read moreyesterday. My fiance and I are both students, so cost and transparency was certainly important to us in choosing a vet. However, I was also looking for a empathetic stress free environment for both my stray cat and myself, as I had never owned a cat before. From the initial form, allowing me to outline our story in advance, our appointment felt so individualized. Sarah R. , our fantastic Vet Tech, had read our case and was called in specially to see Princess because of her experience with strays. She was calm and effective, and I was shocked to see her petting Princess less than 30 seconds after opening her carrier (I had not yet attempted this). She was personable, telling us about her own fur babies, but I also felt she was very thorough in collecting history and let me ask lots of questions. In addition to Sarah's excellence, Dr. Morgan Mcpheeter was calm, efficient, and knowledgeable. I am not a "review" person but for the person out there wondering if they should invest in a Vet Relationship instead of a neuter/spay service, I think Charleston Harbor is everything they've advertised and more (rare in Chs).

If you're looking for a veterinarian who truly cares, I can't recommend Dr. Kahuda enough. From the…read moremoment you walk in, you can feel the difference. She treats both you and your pet with genuine compassion, patience, and respect. You're never made to feel like just another appointment or a number; she takes her time, listens, and makes sure you understand every step of your pet's care all while valuing your opinion. What stands out most is how she sees animals for what they are -- living, feeling beings who deserve kindness and dignity. That level of care is rare, and it's exactly why my family and I trust her completely with our pets. My family and I actually drive all the way from North Mount Pleasant just to bring our pets to her and her team -- that alone should speak volumes about the level of trust and confidence we have in her care. And her team? Absolutely incredible, 10/10. Her techs are just as kind, competent, attentive, and dedicated. They go above and beyond to make sure both pets and owners feel comfortable, supported, and cared for. It's not easy to find a veterinary team that blends skill, compassion, and integrity so seamlessly, but Dr. Kahuda and her staff truly do. I am beyond grateful to have found them, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets.

From the moment I called to schedule the appointment, I could tell how much the staff genuinely…read morecared about both their patients and the people who love them. I was bringing my dog in for a second opinion before making the difficult decision of whether to put her through another extensive and very expensive reconstructive surgery. Deep down, I had a gut feeling that another surgery wasn't the best option, but I needed someone I could trust to be honest with me. Dr. Bolen took the time to carefully review all of Lizzie's medical records and X-rays, performed a thorough examination, and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. He told me that he would not recommend putting her through another surgery. He was honest about potential issues that could arise in the future, but he also discussed other treatment options that were much less invasive and far less costly. I left the appointment feeling an overwhelming sense of relief. More importantly, I left with hope and complete confidence that I had received an honest, compassionate opinion that truly put my dog's best interests first. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Bolen and the entire staff for their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care.

Took my 9 yr old cat in for an itchy skin reaction believed to be related to an allergy from a flea…read morebite. Upon arrival, there was a strong smell of urine throughout the facility. I understand that happens in vet offices, though this was pretty extreme, but in the examination room, there also appeared to be urine residue in the corners and along the walls. These conditions were surprising and raised concerns about the cleanliness of the environment where healthy pets also are receiving care. About a day or two later, my cat began sneezing and experiencing very watery eyes, and got extremely sick with conjunctivitis and a respiratory condition. She was not experiencing these symptoms before her appointment and had never been sick prior to the itchy skin dermatitis I brought her in for. It's now been 3 weeks since the visit and she still has some residual symptoms like a watery eye and sneezing. While I obviously can't confirm what caused these symptoms, their onset shortly after the visit, combined with the conditions I observed, leaves me concerned that she may have been exposed to illness at the facility. I do also have to note that, while she was very anxious about being there, she remained calm when the vet and assistant examined her. When the assistant returned to administer a shot, she smelled the hand of the third person and immediately freaked out growling and hissing and from there chaos ensued. His first comment when she reacted that way to him was, "I washed my hands!!" That whole situation was really off-putting and immediately made me think he actually DIDN'T wash his hands between patients. I really hate to complain since Patrick Vet has been helpful to me and my pets in the past, but this office has gone way downhill. Worst of all, I laid out my concerns regarding cleaning and infection control procedures and my cats subsequent illness to them and received no response. They didn't even check in regarding my cats illness, which I documented via video and sent to them. Just nothing. I brought my cat in to improve her health and comfort, and it was really upsetting to see her feeling so much worse afterwards and not having the situation addressed or even acknowledged. I won't be back.

Please do your research before trusting BluePearl with your beloved pet…read more I deeply regret trusting my veterinarian's recommendation to take my dog to BluePearl. Our beloved Buddy died less than 24 hours after we brought him home from surgery. When we picked him up, we immediately questioned the technician because he looked like he was in shock. We specifically asked if he was okay and were assured that some small dogs react that way after surgery and that his vitals were fine. Once we got him home, we called BluePearl again because we were still concerned about his condition. We were again reassured that what we were seeing was normal. We trusted what we were being told. He died less than 24 hours later. We reached out to them Saturday morning to let them know he had passed and did not receive a call back from the doctor till the following Monday afternoon. We were repeatedly told how "great" the surgery had gone and how upset the doctor was about his death. No answers and no accountability. When my husband called to speak with the manager about our concerns, he was told she had already left--even though I had spoken with her about 30 minutes earlier. He asked her to call him back. She never did. I know complications can happen, and I am not saying every bad outcome can be prevented. But we questioned his condition before leaving, we called again after getting him home, and we repeatedly expressed our concerns. We did everything we knew to do to advocate for him. We trusted the professionals caring for our beloved dog, and we will live with this loss for the rest of our lives. Please do your research before choosing this hospital. I wish I could turn back time and never have brought him to Blue Pearl.
