She is located in the Sticht center which is a free standing building that faces the road and has Parking Deck A directly behind it. It is part of Wale Forest Atrium Health Baptist Hospital. From the outside the building is very unassuming, plain brown brick building with ordinary windows. But as soon as you walk in you are in a grand lobby whose Sitting area has a some beautiful artwork and a grand piano. There is a small eating area with vending machines towards the rear. This center is primarily for aging and rehabilitation and even has a pool to work with patients. It is a very welcoming environment and everyone who works there is very friendly. After checking in with security I went up to the second floor and checked In for my appointment. Caroline Snock R.D. was very friendly and Informative. She explained everything to me in detail and gave me suggestions on proper healthy, eating for both my diabetes and my kidney disease. She answered all my questions and I walked out of that office feeling so much more energized in this battle with people like her being part of my Transplant team process I know I can beat this and live a longer life. I highly recommend Atrium Health Baptist Medical for all your health needs especially if you have kidney disease and even if you need advice on Nutrition and the proper way to eat, this is the place to come.

The entireties of the staff - from the sales, to skilled nursing, to the dining room servers were welcoming, obliging, and happy (which is not always the case in senior facilities!) The residents we encountered were equally cheerful! My father decided on that 1st visit that "this was the place for him", and fortunately there was an apartment that would be available to him in a week's time. Unfortunately, as is often the case with elderly parents, we experienced a medical "emergency" with my Dad several days before his scheduled move-in. The amazing team at Abbotswood moved mountains to get him in-house, and under their expert Living Well @ Home skilled nursing care...an answer to our prayer as we could not give him the care he needed. The team at Abbotswood is enthusiastic, respectful, responsive and incredibly professional! The grounds are beautiful! The interiors are updated and bright! The restaurants serve wonderful food, and are accommodating for each resident's particular needs! I doubt you will find anything in the Triad that is even close to the gem that Abbotswood is!

Whenever I visited, I was treated warmly, and my father was always resting comfortably in a clean room and a pristine bed, with carefully laundered, comfortable clothes. He had dementia, so he was unable to tell us how the staff was treating him (and never having been the type of person to complain) we had to take non-verbal cues. All the cues pointed to a staff that was both patient and caring. Trust was essential to us and something we considered heavily before deciding on a place for our beloved father. During his final days, our family experienced feelings that I cannot properly put into words here. Likewise, I am unable to express how sensitive the staff was in their treatment of my father. I imagine that they deal with loss on a regular basis, but never once did they regard our grief casually. My father was a kind, gentle, man and was known for his singing voice, his whistling, his love of jazz and his love of the Word. The staff made sure he was able to enjoy all these things during his final days. They all knew him by name, and said he was easy to care for and easy to care about. This was evident in their heartfelt farewell. You can not pay someone to care, and [care] is what they did here. Perhaps I have not adequately relayed, but in my heart I will absolutely, always appreciate every last member of this staff for giving of themselves so selflessly, when it counted most.

There's been a lot of talk about Trosa Thrift store around town lately. I've seen it all over…read moresocial media so a friend and I decided to check it out on a Friday afternoon. Trosa is located on Peters Creek Hwy in the Food Lion strip center at the Clemmonsville exit. It's easy to get to and there's plenty of parking which I love. Right inside the door is their whole furniture section, they have tons of tables, chairs, dressers , etc. they even have a whole section of office specific furniture. The prices are very reasonable. This would be a furniture flippers paradise. Towards the back they have shelves of everything from pillows to whole sets of dishes, sports equipment and the most medical mobility equipment I've ever seen anywhere. I'd say, if you are in need of a walker, a bath seat or portable toilet for someone look here because they probably have it at a fraction of the cost it would be to purchase new or rent. The clothing is grouped all together but they aren't keeping it organized as well as it needs to be. All different sizes were mixed in together and I quickly got frustrated and gave up. Both of us had found an item in the kitchen area we wanted so we headed to check out. The workers were very friendly as well. I'll definitely be checking out Trosa regularly in the future. Trosa supports substance abuse treatment. If you want to donate to them, they offer pick up for larger items or you can bring your items to their donation drop off around the back of the store. Just follow the signs.
