My 1st experience was back in April 2021 for my husband's bday which was pleasant. Granted it was in the middle of Covid so everything was a lot slower & businesses weren't too busy but all in all, it was basic. There wasn't any special accommodations for birthdays or anything "over the top" so I can't rate our experience all that great. We signed up for the wine club because the wine that we tasted was something we BOTH liked. Mind you, when you sign up for their wine club, there is a fee to cancel early which they don't disclose upfront. They sold it to us by saying we would be accommodated with free tastings every time we visit & get discounts for the spa (which we never received). Trying to plan ahead and book your reservation is almost impossible because you can't get a hold of anyone. Went for the 2nd time & brought a bigger party a couple months later, wasn't greeted & told us that our party was too big & couldn't have the kids sit during the tasting or else they would charge them. (Which I didn't understand why they would charge children to sit for a tasting) so my husband had to go back & forth from the courtyard to the table. Few months later, they sent the wrong wine order to us (which they fixed) but it took a while for us to receive. I tried to cancel my membership back in Nov 2021 & was charged for another order this month. read more

My wife and I were staying at the Vino Bello Resort and part of our "welcome package" was a wine tasting from Trinitas Cellars. We each did the tasting and we were so impressed with the wines that we bought seven to take home with us, and we joined their wine club. We tried the Chardonnay, several reds, and the Port. I'm not much on some of the more bolder reds, but loved the 2013 Mendocino Old Vine Zinfandel and the 2014 El Dorado Zinfandel which were two of the ones that made the trip home with us, as well as the Port. Matthew was the person who conducted our tasting a was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable on the wines and was a great host! He spoke to us, joked with us, and even though he was taking care of other guests, we never felt deserted. Trinitas Cellars is one of the added perks of staying on property, but is worth the drive and time if you stay offsite. read more

You have to go through the lobby of Meritage Hotel, but the walk through was so pleasant: a guy playing beautiful music on the piano, lobby area was really nice! Wow! approaching the Trinitas Cellar was a beautiful site! I believe the vineyards were right above. It is a small place for wine tasting and it was full when we arrived. Veronica was welcoming and very knowledgeable about the wine and so very friendly and extremely professional. The wine was good, but our favorite was the 2014 Chardonnay. It was buttery and smooth! Veronica told us that it can also be purchased at Safeway if you can't make it to Napa. Aside from the property being very nice and luxurious feeling, my main reason for writing the review is for the EXCELLENT service I received from Veronica. She was very awesome!!! I just love this place - so much that I became a member! I've been here three times now, and even though it's just a tasting room it's such a great addition to a day in Napa. See my reasoning below: 1. The wines - what a variety! They have something for everyone here and have so many options for tastings that everyone in your group will be happy. The fact that they're delicious is just a bonus. My current favorites are the rosé (they call it Rosé-ary), Malbec, and Meritage blend. Seriously, everything is so good, we even bought a bottle of Cab Franc blind on our last visit since they had none to open. It's difficult to come here and not leave with several bottles - luckily they have some very reasonable price points as well as a few splurges for special occasions. 2. The staff - incredibly knowledgeable and fun to talk to. We've had different people each visit and no matter how busy they are they make the experience fantastic. 3. The location - don't be turned off by the tasting room only. It's in a cool cave, in the back of a beautiful resort (I do recommend staying here overnight as well) and there's a vineyard behind the tasting room with walking trails. There's a small gazebo type area in the vineyard that's a great spot to bring a bottle and picnic lunch. Just planned another trip for next weekend and can't wait to be back at my favorite spot in Napa. Pro tip - they are busiest in the afternoon so come for your first stop of the day - it's on the way to just about anywhere and you'll have the place to yourselves! read more

Stopped by here since it looked pretty cool on yelp but was a bit disappointed. The prices are at or above most winery tastings which I don't think is appropriate for a little wine bar at the back of a hotel. My gf and I got the chocolate pairing tasting which was $30 and the pours were definitely very little compared to most tastings.. our server was nice but not attentive, she was constantly paying attention to the other customers and we got very little attention, I felt like a burden just to ask for more breadsticks... like i said she was nice but just didn't pay much attention to us. My wife and I took advantage of a TRAVELZOO voucher to get away for a few days in Napa. We are frequent visitors to wineries and tasting sessions. The Trinitas wine tasting was part of the voucher. The wine selections were quite nice, the decor was inside a cozy cave and the cost was very reasonable. However, the young woman who poured was very aloof and pretty stingy with the pour. We had a coupon for 2-for-1 so it seemed to me she took the portion for one person and split it into two glasses. I would not have noticed this but then I saw another couple tasting next two us and they were very definitely sampling more of the wine in their glasses. Too bad ... we did buy some wine but the service left me with a bitter taste! BTW --- the Meritage resort is excellent and their restaurant, Siena, was outstanding!! read more

On site of the Meritage Resort and yes IN a cave - very cool. The tasting room is small and has no seats nor hooks for coats. They do have a small selection of gift items. I love that the tasting room is open until 7pm - most close at 4pm. The most basic tasting is 4 tastes - fee is $10. There are 3 sets of tasting to choose from and price goes up from there. On the morning I was leaving, we squeezed in a tasting in the cave. I am so glad we did because it was literally the only place I tasted that I felt compelled to actually buy. I bought a bottle of their old vine Zin from El Dorado for $19 and 2009 Petite Sirah from none-other-than Oakley in Contra Costa County for $25. Who knew? I also liked the Mendocino Old Vine Zin but not as much as the other 2. I visited the tasting room located at the Meritage Hotel & Spa for the chocolate and wine pairing. For $30 you get 4 chocolates perfectly suited for 4 of Trinitas's wines. I'm not sure if it was the wine, the chocolate, or the fact that this was my last winery of the day, but I really enjoyed the tasting experience. Wines are affordable, and wine club membership also gets you discounts at the hotels that are owned by the same group. One thing to note - there is no cell phone reception in the tasting room, at least for AT&T customers. Honestly, you won't need it for the hour or so you spend at Trinitas. The friendly staff and the intimate space facilitates conversation amongst guests. While I was there, a few of us were chatting about how crazy Napa has gotten with wine tasting prices and the perks, such as free wine glasses were no longer given out at most wineries. Our server explained the history of wineries giving out tasting glasses. It started because liquor licenses originally didn't allow for tastings, so wineries would get around it by saying they were charging you for the glass of wine and giving you the glass to keep. Now with different liquor license regulations, the practice is no longer necessary. Yet, my server still made sure I walked away with a free Trinitas wine glass, exemplifying excellent customer service. read more

Let me just start by saying that my knowledge and exposure to wine has been limited. Honestly i was a little hesistant to go wine tasting, no one wants to feel like a complete Noob right? But hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere. My bf and i were starying at the Meritage hotel and the Trinitas Cellar is on site. The decor is nice and they did a wonderful job of creating the "Cave like feeling" However, the actual tasting room is quite small and 2 or 3 couples tasting at a time will make you feel clastrophobic, you are in a cave afterall. There are also no seats available. We settled on the standard package. It was the cheaper of the two at $15 and the next package up was $25 i believe. We were able to taste 5 different wines, both white and red. The thing that bothered me about this place is the service. The girl treated us like complete punks. She didn't spend any time explaining the orgin of the cellar or information in regards to each wine. Each time, she would just pour the wine, name what it is and walk away. The menu list of the wines had more information on it than she gave us. However, she would spend extra time socializing with the older couples around us. NEVER AGAIN TRINITAS! read more

I was told to come here for the champagne, I called to make a reservation and was told they could squeeze us in. Driving there we were stuck in traffic we called to say we were going to be late and were told my card was already charged and the cheese was already cut for us...arriving there if was more of a stuffy class not a fun wine tasting. The owner was the host and clearly makes the point of he does not need our money but wants people to join there wine club..I asked one question about the flavor and he seemed disgusted with my question. CONTEXT: I had tasted the Trinitas Mataro at The Wine Room in Palo Alto and liked it, so we included Trinitas on the itinerary for our visit to Napa this weekend. IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR HIS HOLINESS...: It's not every tasting room that has a digital slideshow of the owner presenting a magnum to the Pope. That's right--it turns out the close semblance of "Trinitas" to "Trinity" is not a coincidence (hint: this has nothing to do with Carrie-Anne Moss). Turns out the wine they gave Benedict XVI was a Zinfandel. The name of the cuvee? "ratZINger". As Dave Barry would say, "I am not making this up". But the Catholic fun doesn't end there... their rose is called (can you guess?) "Rose'ary". There are a couple more thematic wines, but also a lot of secular bottles, with boring names like "Sauvignon Blanc". ...IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME: Religious overtones aside, the Trinitas tasting room is a nice space, part of an underground cave that was tunneled into a hill behind the Meritage resort. There's a small gift area and then a long bar with ample space for tasting. We came by on a wet off-season day and had the bar to ourselves, but Jonathan the friendly pourer told us sometimes it gets positively rowdy (we can only imagine that this leads to many day-after Hail Marys). THIS IS MY BLOOD: Trinitas has no estate wines, which might make wine snobs sneer, but it has one big benefit: a wide variety of interesting wines at good prices. In addition to scoring a bottle of the Mataro that I already knew I liked, we picked up two more bottles that we'd tasted: * Old Vine Cuvee: a food-ready Zin-driven blend of six black grapes that I'll be saving until grill weather returns * "Revelation": a really scrumpy late-harvest Mataro/Petite Sirah dessert wine (which, in hindsight, I wish I'd bought two bottles of) None of these was over $18, which was an nice change from most Napa wineries, where you'll be hard-pressed to find anything for $20 or less. Sadly, it seems that Trinitas is phasing out both the Mataro and the Revelation, but I confess (har har) that I might stop by in a year or so to check out the lineup... and maybe see if there are any new pics of His Holiness. read more

As a winemaker and grape grower in the Bay Area, I know recommending a vineyard for tasting should be done with care. With Trinitas, I can recommend everything. From the oaked Chardonnay to the old vine Zin (or 26 other different wines), their wide selection of wines are all fantastic. You cannot go wrong. Tucked away behind the Meritage Resort in their own wine cave under the vineyard. Since my first time here a few months back, I've been here on several occasions - private and personal - to which all were memorable. A romantic and calm atmosphere. Besides the great wine, the friendly and knowledgeable staff (Ayed, Ed, etc.) have a plethora of great recommendations and helpful tips. Always great to have a friendly person to taste wine with! Love this place - most recently came here with my family and we had a wonderful tasting. Garret and crew gave us a great tasting experience. The only downside is trying to figure out which wine to take home, since they're all so good. Psalms 2012 and the 'butterscotch bomb' were our favorite chardonnays. Good Cab, good Pinot. Very nice and helpful service. We would not have even know about this place and that they were opened past 6 if it hadn't been for the people at Menage a Trios pointing us in their direction. I am really glad they did because I liked each of the wines I tasted and even brought a bottle of their Pinot Noir home with me. We kind of got there a little before closing time so we couldn't do a full tasting but one of the ladies behind the counter gave me 3 free of charge. I told her that I wasn't really into dry wines and that I liked cabs and pintos. All three were awesome and if I was made of money I would have bought all of them. These wines were a bit on the high priced side. I think most of the red's were 40 plus. I am not a huge wine connoisseur but I know what I like and Trinitas cellars is on the list now. read more

I stayed at the resort for a work meeting. We did a tasting and I was very disappointed. The quality of the sommelier was not good at all. He rushed though each wine and used all those bizarre flavors like "marshmallows" when describing wines. In a group of 30 not 1 bought a bottle and he was definitely why. We also did the cave dinner. Had a great time was a first timer and we even caught a wedding while we were exploring the vineyards. It's a really beautiful place. ALL OF the wine we tasted was amazing kind of wish I would've opted for the chocolate pairing, but the breadsticks were a nice way to cleanse the palate between tastings. It is truly a beautiful place for a wedding, came across a LOVELY little chapel they had at the resort. With wedding bells in my life at the moment this is definitely a place I'd consider having a ceremony and reception. Loved the little bar in the lobby and I honestly loved the atmosphere. It's about an hour drive from my home and I felt like I was on a mini vacation even though we only came for a few hours. TRULY RELAXING PLACE! Excellent customer service! A huge plus is that they're open till 6pm! The entire Napa region shuts down around 5pm when it comes to wine tasting...so it's nice to have somewhere around 6pm. This was my second visit to Trinitas, our server was Ayed he was a lot nicer and very down to earth compared to the first guy I had. I only had the tasting, my husband had the chocolate pairing. He seemed to really enjoy his experience. I really enjoyed the Rose, I never ever buy rose, but its just that great ;) Ayed gently educated us on the different wine processes, and how some places may short cut or cheapen their process. I definitely felt like I learned more about what I like We ended up joining their club and walked away with 4 bottles. It was another great wine tasting experience at Trinitas! I've been in several wine clubs, but this is one I've always held on to for several reasons. The wines are amazing and the knowledgable staff are always helpful and friendly. At this visit, my friends had mostly white wines and they were enjoyable. The Sauvignon Blanc is light and crisp, the Reserve Chardonnay is buttery but not over-powered with oak. They offer a great Old Vine Zin which is easy to drink. Our server Tony was good-natured and super nice, who was working alongside the awesome Matt, and he was trying to educate us in a very non-pretentious way. My favorite wine are their Cabs, which there are several to choose from. For those looking for sweet wines, they do offer a couple of options of dessert wines as well. So not only is this tasting room worth a visit, but their spa is right across the cave and their spa treatments have always been impressive. Just chilling in their serenity waiting area is a treat of peace and quiet. Then, when you get hungry after all of that you can satisfy your taste buds at either their restaurant or the Crush Lounge. Today, I had their fish tacos, which was tender and tasty with a little spice. I did end up taking a small bite of my friend's burger because it looked soo mouth-watering. Excellent day! My friends and I decided to spend a girls' weekend in Napa and booked a room at Vino Bello Resort, which is right next door. After wine tasting all day, we left Trinitas for last, as we could just stumble over there and figured we could either stop by if we still felt like it, or skip it all together. Boy, am I glad that some of us found some energy to hit up this little gem at the end of the day. The winery itself is really cute, set in a cave, with lots of cute little knick-knacks to browse, if you are into that sort of thing. Customer service was great. And the wine was absolutely delish. We tried the reserve tasting that first night. Even though I'm usually not a chardonnay person, I fell in love with theirs. The reds were amazing also. I picked up a bottle of Zin right then and there. My friends got a few bottles as well. It honestly was the best winery in Napa that I have encountered so far, as a few times I've been there, I haven't been that impressed. Sonoma is a different story, but I digress. We liked Trinitas so much, that the next morning after breakfast, we came back for another tasting and to buy some more wine (they comp tasting if you buy a bottle). I decided overnight that I must have a couple of bottles of their reserve Chard. Two of my friends joined their wine club, as apparently in addition to their great wines, you also get a 20% discount on staying at Meritage, the resort the winery is a part of. The Trinitas Cellars is located int the Meritage Hotel in the back of the hotel. Beautiful wine cave where lots of weddings take place! I was there with a group of girlfriends and half of us did the chocolate/wine tasting which was awesome, and the other half did the Reserve tasting. Their tasting fees are a little pricey but I bought a Wine Priority Pass so it was Buy One, Get one. Very friendly and knowledgeable Sommeliers. Shout out to Ayed! Trinitas is a hidden little gem in the hills behind a hotel. We went on a Wednesday and enjoyed some very flavorful wines. My wife tried the Pairings ($40) which included 4 dessert wines with a small pairing of chocolates--she enjoyed it very much. I tried the reds, "Rich & Bold" (or something like that) ($30), for 5 tastings--there were some really rich wines. The Zinfandel (red) was extremely tasty. We bought 3 bottles at just over $100, and they discounted my wife's tasting ($40 discount). They also provided recommendations on other wineries. They also have a spot above the tasting room, on the hill, by the vineyard which is a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine, or bottle if the weather is right. read more
