Very knowledgeable salesman. Had a couple questions after we bought the car and the salesman called right away.

Two separate issues with this company. Even if appraisals were always fair and the ethics of the…read morecompany were on the up and up (which many believe they are not), the personality of the owner is just bad. Flippant and rude and apathetic, unprofessional. It is believed in many neighborhoods that this company is in cohorts with a variety of realtors and has ulterior motives to the way appraisals are drawn up. Beware.

We had an appraisal with another appraisal firm as part of a PMI removal. Based on that appraisal,…read morewe decided to do a refinance. But by the time we got the paperwork going, the broker told us that we'd need a new appraisal, which is how we wound up paying Midwest to come out for an appraisal. It was winter, and such little time had elapsed between the appraisals that there were no new home sales in the area and no change in market conditions. The two appraisers used exactly the same data. But midwest came back with a value 12% lower than the first appraisal, inexplicably using "comps" that were miles and miles away from our home, where the first appraiser had used comps on our block. We submitted the original appraisal's comps for consideration through our mortgage broker, and they refused to consider them. We escalated through the broker, and were turned away. It was as though Midwest was committed to undervaluing our property. Given the fact that they were so wildly different than the first appraisal, we're now starting the entire refi process over, having wasted $500 dealing with Midwest. We're confident enough that we can get a fair appraisal elsewhere that we're just going to chalk that money up as a loss and hope that the new lender selects a fair-minded appraisal firm. Your mileage may vary, but if you have a choice, I'd steer clear of this company.
