This review will be based more on the product quality rather than a review of Jody. We had an issue with the trim kit from the microwave manufacturer being too big for our cabinet. I found a decently priced aftermarket kit from another company that our appliance vendor recommended but it only came in the vented style and the customer wanted a flat face similar to the one from the manufacturer. I found trim kits USA through a Google search but was nervous about the quality of an unknown vendor. I called the phone number listed on the site and left a message. I received a call back less than ten minutes later (other times I called and left a message I received similarly quick responses) I will agree that Jody tries to push custom kits that are very expensive and it was difficult to get him to understand that I just wanted to make sure that the standard kit for the microwave would fit in the space we had. It is great that he can make you a unit that will line up perfectly with your drawer or door faces but our client was not willing to pay the added cost for that. I ordered the standard kit and received it in about a week although he does not guarantee that he will have yours in stock and quotes you at 4 weeks. The unit was packaged well and looked great out of the box. It was also 100% stainless steel where as the manufacturer unit was mostly plastic. Horrible company! Pretty sure they are in the customer service industry? We go through all the steps on manufacturing details of the trim I was looking for. I thought everything was good. We got to the price of it. I asked them a question regarding what came with the trim that is was there a base to put my microwave on in addition to the trim piece? Never got the answer to that then I asked compared to the other company that I was given by the company I bought the microwave from the price difference was almost double. So my question to them was directed in what is the difference in what I'm getting for double the price? Simple question. This guy gets back to me with a horribly rude response. Really nice quality. I bought a standard trim kit. Everything went well. I work in the high end cabinet field. This was for my personal house. I have a lot of knowledge ordering the correct appliances and kits which is not as easy as you would imagine. Anyhow the reviews gave me pause. Oh man, if I could give zero stars, I would. How about negative stars? From the first phone call, I was treated with short, abrupt, direct, and, quite frankly, rude behavior. Did my best to overlook it. I tried. Got a quote. More expensive than I had anticipated and as soon as I mentioned that, JD, basically said, "Adios". I hadn't decided to not go forward just stated that it was more expensive than I anticipated ... and then, heaven forbid, I asked follow up questions on the dimensions and style to make sure that it would fit and look best. That's when abruptness was amp'd up. It's been awhile since I encountered someone like JD in their role of dealing with the general public, customers, people ... you know, for me, like example ... someone trying to get a nice finished trim kit for a kitchen microwave install for ~$700. Thank goodness for these reviews on Trim Kits USA. I provided measurements to Jody for an oven filler quote. I told him my installer mentioned the appliance company often orders a trim kit after the install but my salesperson never brought this up so I'd circle back to Jody once I contacted the salesperson. Jody responded with a one line "Appliance stores DO NOT supply the filler strips". I thought, is he yelling at me? What troubled me most about Trim Kits is its website compares itself to MicroTrim and bashes them. The comparisons are not only misleading but untrue. This business appears to be a one-man operation because I tried without success to speak with someone else. The one-man being Jody Hedin who is difficult at best. To describe him as condescending and completely despicable is a complete understatement. I'd very recently lost my spouse when several appliances suddenly decided it was time to fail. After having a new microwave installed, there was a gap in the cabinet that needed to be addressed. My appliance company of many years recommended TrimKits USA and I will say the product does appear to be of excellent quality. If you can get anything accomplished with Jody which is the challenging part. I'll admit that when I was asked to send specific measurements, I wasn't 100% clear on one of them. I sent the wrong one the first time and when I realized it, I immediately contacted Jody again, explained and sent what I believe to have been the correct measurement. Here's the exact reply that I received from him (no edits): 1. I've never had one custom shave a problem giving me (3) simple measurements 2. I simply can not give you any more information than I already have, and there's nothing more to discuss 3. Considering an average individual may order a microwave trim kit maybe once or twice in their lifetime, I expected that when I emailed TrimKits USA, they would ask me for my measurements and nicely guide me through the process. Instead, someone named "Jody" emailed me back and was extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. When I didn't understand his measuring directions (written poorly and as a long run-on sentence), he copied and pasted the *exact sentence* I didn't understand the first time and told me to "read slower". I called and corresponded with Jody about a trim kit for a new microwave to replace our existing built-in. The current trim kit has rails underneath that are about 1.5" high. I wanted to have the new microwave sit lower than our existing one to accommodate my wife, who is 5' 2" and has trouble reaching up to get hot containers out safely. I also wanted the new trim to be large enough to cover up the existing screw holes in our cabinetry from our current trim kit, so I wouldn't need to fill, sand, stain, etc. My first warning was his bold-faced emphasis on the trim needing to be "aesthetically pleasing", which to him apparently means exactly centered with the cabinet doors above the microwave and using standard height lift rails underneath to have equal venting louvers above and below the microwave. Admittedly, these are desirable features in a perfect (i.e., new) installation scenario. For a remodel, however, there are usually other considerations, which I attempted to communicate. After submitting the pictures and dimensions, I apparently misunderstood one of the requested measurements. Jody responded with a rather condescending: "You did not provide the proper measurements for the below ... please carefully re-read the description, look at the corresponding red line on the PDF, and correct the measurement." OK. I noted the correct one with the comment that I misunderstood. At least he didn't ask me to "read slower" like another reviewer noted (I had a good laugh at that one). He then recommended a microwave significantly smaller (1.2 cu. ft.) than our current one (2 cu. ft), and a trim kit that would essentially raise the microwave to the same height as our current one. When I asked why he recommended that particular microwave he didn't answer. Instead he started off with: "It's become increasingly obvious we could never satisfy you." I do agree with this statement, in that he never really tried to listen to my concerns so that he COULD satisfy me. When I pointed out my desire to cover up the existing screw holes, he responded: "Our professional job is not to cover previous trim kit issues, it's to designer, engineer and fabricate the world's best trim kits." He concluded his response with: "You really need to go seek out a cheap and ugly trim kit that satisfies you." At this point, our conversation stopped since I couldn't believe a responsible company would behave in this manner. If Yelp had "negative stars" for a rating this would have been a candidate. I am using exact quotes here so as to not be accused of misrepresenting the facts of my experience. My comments seem to mirror those of others who had similar conversations, so I don't think I am an outlier. My advice to anyone considering doing business with this company is be forewarned. There are other alternatives out there. I found one and the experience talking with them was like night and day. Just Google "microwave trim kits" and you'll see an alternative supplier. Oh my god! All these reviews are so spot on to my experience with this company. I wish I checked here first but I was referred to them by my appliance company. I am certainly going to tell them to stop referring people to this company. Just like everyone else I was treated with the worst customer experience ever. I couldn't believe that someone could be so condescending. It started out fine but then when I didn't give them exactly what they wanted and how they wanted they ignored me. When I asked them again if what I supplied was what they needed they replied that I was wasting his time and that that he can't help me with what I don't understand. I'm an mechanical engineer of 30+ years and sent them a picture with dimensions of everything they could possibly need. Anybody should be able to make that trim kit but apparently they wanted a high res picture which I think is what I sent but perhaps it was med res. But who cares. If that's what you need then kindly say you need that in addition to what I sent. Don't ignore me, then when I check in, send back a condescending remark. It is amazing that they are still in business. Some of these posts go back years and they haven't changed. I will try the other company that others have suggested here. Never before or since have I encountered someone so rude and unprofessional, and I have been involved in multiple complex renovations over decades of homeownership. The owner is very rude, accusatory, and totally unpredictable in terms of his behavior. His demeanor reminded me of the Soup Nazi character on Seinfeld. I contacted Jody because I was looking for a microwave trim. This was the first time I had to replace a microwave in my custom built kitchen, so not surprisingly, I had a few questions about his product. As other reviewers experienced, I noticed that Jody was very direct and borderline tyrannical with his comments. Initially, it didn't bother me much; he seemed to know the technical stuff, and I just wanted to get the right product. After two days and 3-4 email/call exchanges, I was ready to place the order. Before pulling the trigger on the purchase, I contacted him one more time. The cost of the trim was three times higher than the microwave itself. I was OK with the price of the trim but was also wondering if I would be able to re-use it with another microwave in the future (assuming they were similar sizes). Jody came up with a furious response. He wrote back that he is not a god, and he cannot predict the future. Furthermore, he felt that I was asking too many questions and therefore had decided that he didn't want my business anymore. This aberrant, irrational response to what I believe was a polite, rational question, totally shocked me. Clearly, this guy cannot be trusted. He is like a ticking bomb. You never know when you are going to brush him the wrong way, and he is going to explode. I wrote back, indicating I was disappointed and that he was losing a good customer. I also included a link to this Yelp page and pointed out that I wasn't the first one who felt that way. His response - I never sold a trim kit to anyone on Yelp so they end up with a terrible, cheap trim kit, so of course they're really mad at what they now have - How do you do business with someone who thinks this way?!!! He also addressed all my questions related to the potential replacement of the microwave in the future. I ordered a custom trim kit for my home. The item arrived damaged. The owner told me to initiate a claim with the shipping company. In my opinion, it was his job to do that. Nevertheless, I followed his instructions and filed a claim. The shipping company picked up the damaged item, inspected it, and returned it to the TrimKits USA. He gave me a hard time about having started a claim despite the fact that I followed his instructions to do so. He told me that he didn't ask me to return the item. He wanted me to contact the shipper and cancel the claim that I filed. Reputable vendors will issue you a refund promptly when you return damaged goods to them. This item was damaged in shipping - it arrived damaged. I paid for this using my American Express card and had to go through American Express to have the charge removed from my credit card. He may provide a great product. However, if there are any problems don't expect quick resolution or good customer service. read more

I have a brand new microwave that was a gift, they don't work with the brand which I respect. Unbelievably rude, I wouldn't do business with "Jody" and his team if they offered services for free. I called and left a message from my office requesting a call back for a quote on a trim kit for a microwave to be placed in a custom cabinet. As I type this message I see that I should have done my research before reaching out to him, it appears this is an ongoing problem for him. At any rate, when Jody called back a couple hours later, my receptionist asked for his name and the reason for the call. He mumbled and asked what you don't know who you called? My receptionist asked him to spell his name, which he refused to do. He mumbled his name 3 more times before my secretary was forced to hand the call over to me with no details regarding the caller's identity. I spoke to Jody and asked him why he was rude to my staff. He denied being rude, in his rudest possible voice. I tried to move on to discuss the nature of my inquiry, he interrupted me and told me to just send a Hi-res picture via email.
