Results did not necessarily say cancer but the vet did not want to rule it out and let me worry. They were ready for surgery and to send the mass out for testing. I called around, and set an appointment with Canyons because the front desk workers. They just seemed real and very personable. Even though it was a couple days out I felt this place maybe worth the wait. They kept their appointment, and I did not have to wait. I love this aspect because my dog hated vets. The vet looked over and saw the bump. She asked if I just got vaccinated. "Yes, a couple of weeks ago." She didn't want to go any further than that until a couple months if bump did not resolve. She felt confident and knew exactly what it was given the location of a rabies vax. I explained to the doctor at canyons what my other vet said. And ask for the pricing for comparison. Canyons came in cheaper in everything. I was in and out and back home within a half hour with just a simple small office visit. My old fired vet was over an hour and 200 dollars for testing. And wanted to book surgery. Said she was giving me the "gold standard" . It turned out to be the worst advice. Dog's lump is now gone. And Canyons saved me over 1000 dollars. I can now spend this money to get his teeth cleaned. Instead of wasting money on getting a vaccine bump removed.

There was a huge lack of communication in policy and procedures and when I tried to understand the situation I was only met with hostility and a huge lack of accountability. And then on top of all of that they somehow managed to cancel my appointment without informing me and when I asked to better understand the miscommunication and why I was never informed of this they basically said there was nothing they could do for me. Not sure if they just hired a new practice manager that's really making the whole place take a turn for the worse or what but I've noticed a huge decline in recent years and would strongly encourage people to find a vet that cares about pets and owners and treats people with respect and has actual customer service skills. It's really a shame.

I called over just to see if they could check if he is blocked and they said not without paying over $100. Luckily a nice lady at the West Jordan location recommended that I go to Urgent Vet in Taylorsville, they were so kind and understanding and checked to see if he was blocked for free! It took around 3 minutes to do and it totally saved me as money is tight as a nursing student! I understand different policies but the way everything was dealt with at this VCA kind of hurt my feelings as a long time customer.

The vet is really good, she was able to save my dogs cracked tooth because she is specially trained to ado sealant and basically repair the tooth where most vets just pull it if it's broken. I was so happy they could save her large canine that she mostly chews with. The price was fair as well. Would highly recommend. Her teeth are perfectly white now. They also offer a sedation free dental cleaning service if the dog doesn't have major teeth problems like the broken tooth my dog has. If the dog has a good temperament they can clean the teeth with no sedation which would be much more affordable and safer for the dog. I am planning to return for the sedation free cleaning in the future.

I first met Paul when he joined the Sandy Chamber of Commerce in 2010. Great facility, great staff, compassionate care at a fair price. I don't know what else to add other than veterinary care isn't as inexpensive as it once seemed. I don't know that pet insurance helps all that much but keeping a dog healthy requires either luck or a lot of money when they get sick or injured! They are located just south of the credit union on 10600 South 1300 East. Not the easiest place to get in and out of but well worth the effort. I brought my German Shepherd to this clinic earlier this week because I was concerned that he had a…read morereoccurring UTI. My dog is extremely sweet, well-trained, and has never hurt anyone. He loves people and has always done well around staff, at the vet, and at the groomer. In fact, just two weeks prior to this visit, he was taken to an urgent-care veterinary clinic for the same UTI issue. He was completely calm and sweet with the staff there. He also regularly goes to a different location for grooming and vaccinations, and he goes in happy and comes out happy. This is why I was particularly concerned by what happened during this visit. I want to be fair and acknowledge that the front-desk staff and the two technicians who initially helped us were very kind and welcoming. My dog allowed them to perform his initial heart and lung exam and weigh him without any issues. Unfortunately, my experience changed when Dr. Simmons and another technician came in. They attempted to restrain him by putting him in a headlock, trying to muzzle him, and pinning him down. Given his size and the way he was being handled, he became understandably frightened and started resisting but not once growled or snarled. From what I personally witnessed, the approach felt unnecessarily aggressive and seemed to escalate the situation rather than calm him down. He was then taken to the back for an ultrasound. Approximately 5 minutes later, I was told that he had become so anxious that he urinated on the floor. This has never happened with him before. I was also told that they were unable to flip him onto his back and restrain him sufficiently to perform the ultrasound. He was then prescribed trazodone for anxiety... What concerned me even more was what happened afterward. Later that week, I received a call informing me that my dog had allegedly bitten someone during the visit and that the incident had been reported to animal services. I was not informed of the alleged bite at the time of the visit, and no one told me that anyone had been bitten before I received that later call. I completely understand that a 90-pound German Shepherd requires careful handling and that veterinary staff have to prioritize everyone's safety. However, based on my experience, I believe the way he was approached and restrained contributed significantly to his anxiety. His behavior at the urgent-care vet just two weeks earlier, as well as his consistently positive behavior during grooming and vaccinations at another location, makes this experience especially concerning to me. My dog had already shown that he could calmly cooperate with veterinary staff when approached appropriately. I cannot help but feel that his size and breed influenced how he was perceived and handled, rather than his actual behavior. Based on my experience with Dr. Simmons and the way my dog was handled, I would not personally return to this clinic or recommend Dr.Simmons to anyone. As a vet it's your job to know how to approach animals & in this situation I feel Dr.Simmons truly lacked that knowledge.

Some reviews say the prices are high, but I don't find them to be out of reason with any other vet in the area and more so, Dr. Chapman and his team give our dogs and cats the love and attention they deserve. Our pets are family to us and even if the prices were higher, and again, I don't feel they are, you cannot put a price on that local, "family" feeling. I will say we did take our dogs here back under the old ownership, I believe it was Dr. Moore, and at that time we did find the prices astronomical compared to others, and the service somewhat lack luster, but that was a long time ago and a different group of people. The only thing that is the same since those days is the building's location so I would not base your opinions on old reviews. The staff always follows up with a phone call to see how our pets are doing, they know us when we come in, and sure, some of that may be notes on a computer, but I believe it's more than that- They really know us and our furry family. They remember details, ask questions, talk to us, talk to our pets. Things you can't put a price on.
