My 2 sons and their 4 cars, my wife and I, and our 3 cars, have been going here for years for smog certs. Never need a coupon to get a coupon deal...until today. Not sure if new ownership as I did not recognize anyone in there, but was quoted $78. We normally pay $58. I asked if I could get the price that I'd just paid on one of our other cars. No deal. The kid behind the counter said his dad put an end to the deals. I was tempted to leave, but since I was there I went ahead with the smog check (he gave me a $10 discount to $68), however, while waiting I called two smog places, one literally around the corner. $59.75 seems to be the current going rate. Trident you just lost 7 cars worth of business over $8.25. We won't be back. Years of loyalty gone. One more mention. Not sure what's going on with this business, seems to have changed (for the worse), look at all the negative reviews pertaining to smog and smog scams. Not good. I was referred to Trident after initially going to Oilstop Drive Thru Oil Change, where I typically go to get my oil change, to have my air conditioning checked. I should have known by its name that they only do oil changes. Anywho, Oilstop Drive kindly referred me to Trident, advising it's conveniently in the same shopping plaza and they have very fair prices. I met Joe, the owner of Trident, and he was very patient and thorough in explaining the issue I was having with the air conditioning. I had to come back a couple of days later since the fix required at least four hours. Joe was extremely kind to give me a ride back to my place, and was willing to give a ride back when the car was ready to pick up, however he was having a busy day so asked if I could take an Uber and he'll reimburse for the cost. I was able to get a ride, so that wasn't needed, but by offering that service, that is impeccable customer service! When I picked up the car, the a/c was working again AND the car was washed!! Despite having to pay a big bill for the expensive part that needed replacement, this was by far one of the most pleasant experiences I've had going to a car shop. One of my cars took a little more work as it had a new battery that reset some of my computers that required a "drive-cycle." Read up on your cars requirement to quicken the process. My wife got an estimate for replacement of an air conditioner compressor. The guys said it would be about $1,100 for parts and labor. She called me and I said that was way too high. A quick check of auto parts websites showed the part at about $300-$400. That means the remaining $700-$800 would be labor?! No way. So I called a local dealer, who I wouldn't expect to be cheaper, and they quoted a price of less than $600 with parts, labor and freon. Nearly half he price! Unbeknownst to me, this place tried to get my wife to come back claiming they found a cheaper part...no kidding...and said they could do it for $750, still almost 20% higher. No thanks. read more

We always take our cars to Trident for smog because of their quick turnaround and reliable service, so we didn't think it was any big deal to take my son's car in the afternoon before he was supposed to head back to San Diego for college. Unfortunately, Trident discovered he had rodent damage to his vehicle that needed immediate repair. Having gone through this with our other cars, I knew it could take up to two days to get it fixed, especially if parts had to be ordered. Since my son needed to leave at 9:00 am the next morning, we were a bit panicked. Trident had the part and put two men on the job to get the car done by the evening. Fast, honest ,and great service is what you will get when you come to this place. Also, the price for services are VERY competitive given the inflated prices in Valencia. I have a BMW and needed to have the brakes done...the dealership wanted to overcharge me (as expected) so i needed to find a shop that could replace the brakes for a reasonable price. After receiving a coupon for a service discount, I gave this place a try. I arrived first thing in the morning and was greeted by Joe who was fast to get my car in for service. I was told it was going to be a few hours to complete the brake job, which was good considering other cars were already in the garage.. when deciding on brake pad preference, I felt I wasn't being oversold on something I didn't need and Joe was really just trying to let me know that the more expensive brakes that were comparable to BMW brake pads were worth the money to avoid returning sooner than I had to. When I picked my car up, the process was quick and easy and I was thanked for my business. Back again with my other car. First visit was back in March of this year. I have been really impressed with this smog center. When it comes to automotive places, you expect dirty waiting rooms and bathrooms... Not this place. They have clean restrooms and a nice waiting room. I am writing this updated review from their comfy couches in their air conditioned lounge using their free wifi. Sip... Oh, and just made myself a fresh cup of coffee from their Keurig machine. Don't know if i will have time to finish my coffee though, as was last time, there was no wait and they finished in about 10 to 15 minutes. His diagnosis of the AC unit was on point with what I thought it was, and even showed me the parts that had gone bad. I Don't Recommend Anyone to go to Trident. The $49.95 A/C Special sign that sits out front is misleading. I was there June 4, 2018, and was told I needed Refrigerant, my bill jumped to $120.81 and the Special Price showed later as Labor on my Receipt. Also said I needed a System Core Valve that was $20.00 but he would replace for free and stick to the quoted price. Later I found the Valve was charged under parts and the A/C Special was charged as Labor. Took the car back July 6, 2018, a month later with the same complaint of Hot air. Made to wait over an hour as others were taken before me as they came thru the door, with no explanation. Told then the Refrigerant was full and needed to diagnose the problem for an additional $125.00 with the possibility of additional charges. I left and went to my mechanic who diagnosed my car and added Refrigerant for no charge. I was told Trident had lied about the Refrigerant being full and was told the refrigerant was almost empty. I saw my mechanic replace the Refrigerant. Not having a clear picture of charges, lying about charges and charging for diagnosis on a car that was previously charged, is just not good business practices. He even had the nerve to ask me why I didn't have my Timing Belt Repair done by him. I Will Never Recommend or Go To This Shop Again! I wonder how many people he has cheated and they thought they were getting such good service? I thought that at first! read more
