The owner, Patrick McCullum, is just a great person. I searched everywhere on Yelp and through my friends and family, for not only a great mechanic, but, moreover, I wanted to find a great and honorable human being -- something that is SO hard to find these days! I am a 70-year-old woman living on social security benefits and when I realized my much-beloved 2008 Toyota Rav4's brakes were not responding as they should, I gulped deeply, knowing I may not be able to afford the current costs to keep any car running. I posted a Yelp project and watched the responses come in. Some were offensively overpriced and written with an attitude like they didn't want to be bothered. But something about the immediate response from Patrick that was not only polite, but caring and fairly priced (my nephew in San Francisco is a car collector who does his own work and is, fortunately for me, extremely conversant with repair prices on almost all vehicles, classic cars, old cars, new cars etc., and he told me what cost was fair and what was not.) Meeting Patrick led me to believe I had been led there by the "Big G in H" (wink). After being warmly welcomed in Patrick's lovely office, I was led to an equally lovely little waiting room to enjoy an ice-cold water, a TV, and a comfortable chair as I awaited my Uber pick up to drop me back home. I barely arrived home when I received my very fair quote via text (pdf so I could print it out if I wanted), from Patrick. I approved the quote and only about an hour later I was on my way back to pick up the car -- such a short amount of time! I live in Sherman Oaks so coming up here is not a short trip in traffic. But my sister still lives here in Santa Clarita, so I can just hang out whenever I need to make the trip to have Patrick upgrade my Rav4 in future. Well worth the trip. I love my 2008 Toy and only have 145,000 miles on it (that I hope to turn into 300,000 with Patrick's help)!!! I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you are tired of being taken advantage of by certain dealership service departments or sole proprietors who are, how can I say it kindly, "opportunistic" when they know you have to have your car working and working fast so that puts you at a disadvantage and gives them an advantage over you, try Patrick at Platinum. Not only is he a great business owner and mechanic, but also an accomplished painter, and Tae Kwando studio owner and teacher, and if you know anything about Tae Kwando, you know it is not only a martial art, but it also builds in you a strong moral center. I was in Santa Clarita on a job from out of town, so I was up a creek when I burnt the clutch out on my truck. It happened towards the end of the day. I figured I'd put some feelers out and shop for estimates on yelp with the details of my repair. I didn't get many responses, but of the ones I did get, Platinum Auto Repair's was the promptest and most thorough. While they weren't the cheapest, all costs were up front and transparent. Had to have a battery installed and platinum noticed the shocks were leaking and the engine showed some oil leaks as well. Very happy that the issues were identified and we decided to just do the shocks right away and schedule the engine work in the near future. You CANNOT legally charge a transaction fee on a DEBIT CARD!! If the charge were for more than $44, we would be in court, trust me! I don't really care about what "other mechanics or auto shops do", I care about the law, and what is fair to consumers. People, choose who to believe. Here is the law it is called the Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act. Got to be careful, Pat, I have have many friends who are lawyers!! Soon after sending a request for a battery replacement he got back to me within a few hours with a quote and was very flexible with scheduling an appointment within our limited free time. His team were able to perform the swap and the payment before we even needed to leave their office. Customer service was great but I'm wrestling with taking my car here again. My car began making noises it never had before and leaking after having it repaired here. I knew she needed a catalytic converter as well but it had to wait so I thought it must be that. Well, We took her back to have the catalytic converter replaced and now she's making horrid sounds (maybe a belt) and leaking water like crazy. I am loath to take her a third time. read more

Took my 2015 Mustang GT in for a leaking differential. Typically I visit another shop in Santa Clarita, however after calling I discovered the diagnostic rate is lower by a measurable amount and the reviews were all great. I brought it in same day and within an hour I had the issue, fix, and quote. I can also appreciate using text over calls, a lot more convenient. The cost wasn't outlandish and because of that I opted to get my spark plugs replaced as well. I'm very wary of who works on my car and getting pictures and frequent updates puts me at ease. They even straightened out my exhaust that was sagging on one side. Overall great experience, just found my new shop. read more

This place is really helpful! It was a last minute service and they had no issue taking it in.

I do not like writing negative reviews and very rarely do so, but this issue was so egregious I felt others should be aware. I waited a few months before writing to make sure I did not need a new radiators as Platinum advised. During my oil change, which was great, I asked to look the care over, especially the brakes. Upon inspection they said I needed a new radiator. I was suspicious as I was not losing any coolant, and no traces of any leaking. Also said I needed new brakes on front and rear, which I questioned the rear. The front brakes were needed. I then took the car to my old mechanic in another city. He said I needed front brakes. The rear brakes were at 50%, wherein Platinum said they were 15%. He also could not find any leaking or deterioration of the radiator. He suggested the cap did need replacement. Platinum had showed me a picture of a radiator purported to be mine of corrosion at the bottom of the radiator. There was no corrosion at my later inspection, and my old mechanic did not find any. This means the guy showed me some stock photo he had of a corroded radiator. After many months on driving there are no radiator issues, as there wasn't when I drove in, except maybe a new cap was needed. The quote to do all the work by Platinum was north of $2,300. The work I actually really needed cost me $455. read more

I started having car trouble and immediately brought it back to Platinum. It was nothing they did to my car last time, but rather because of how well they fixed it! When I say this shop is thorough, they are thorough! This time around they found that my Alternator and battery needed to be changed.
