Great shop, super duper honest and realistic with the customer. They also frequently update you on how your job is doing. Joey in particular was great with amazing customer service and keeping me updated. They helped with my final road worthy tune-ups and even a major timing job and smogging for my 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT. They don't shy away from interesting/unique cars. Joe, the owner of Trident, was so helpful and kind to me. He printed off the detailed steps how I could followed these steps to drive in order to reset the computer. After some thoughts, I decided to use their service to resolve this issue. Joe was able to reset the system. He even completed my failed Smog test at no charge. Here we sit inside Jiffy Lube! Our first day of vacation is today so last week we made an appointment to have our oil changed. Showed up on time and was told it would take an hour and 15 mins to get done. I made an appointment so I would not have to wait this long. If you been here there is only two folding chairs to sit outside in 90 plus degree weather, or a old couch filled with paperwork in the small office. We left. a minute ago New My daughter brought in her 2013 Chevrolet Volt today and was charged $81.75 plus $8.25 for a smog check and certificate. I understand the smog certificate cost but $81.75 is a little excessive. Upon doing my research, $81.75 is usually the cost for pre 2000 vehicles or motorhomes. There was no work done to the car while there. I'm sure there was no mistake and they know exactly what they are doing which is why I'm going straight to the review. We broke down 200 miles from home with no idea who we could trust. We tried Pep Boys because they were open & we have used them at home. They never even got around to looking at it. With our hotel check-out looming, we were referred to Joe at 1500 on a Friday. I described the issue, which I was pretty sure it was the fuel pump. He said he could get it done the next day...when they weren't even open. We drove over to Trident, he GAVE US THE KEYS TO HIS LOANER, & we drove over to Pep Boy's to get the car. If you've seen my first review how the truth be told and see how the owner pretends he was not part of the conversation and then says sorry you had a bad experience and to call him to discuss just speaks volumes to his character. Now as I mentioned, I turned the car over to the bank as the cost to fix due to their negligence just to pick up and now I receive a letter in the mail stating that the charges for never fixing the engine, braking my axle when test driving while seizing my transmission up is $10,030 when the original stated estimate for the engine was only under $5,000. Brought my 2012 Prius to Trident Auto Performance & Smog for a diagnostic on an 420 engine code related to the catalyst system. Turns out, the catalytic converter was failing and needed replacing :( The mechanics installed a new one and the engine 420 code was gone, car was ready. Then more bad luck. Later that evening, the engine overheated on the freeway and had to be towed back to Trident. Next day, Joey, the manager at Trident Auto, had the car checked out again, making sure it wasn't exhaust system related. All good except for air in the coolant system, taken care of at no charge. After picking up the car, the next day, the engine overheated again!! The car had to be towed again back to Trident Auto. So now I'm out $120 in tow charges and very frustrated as hell. Joey, the manager, wanted the car to receive a very thorough diagnostic to find out what is causing the engine to overheat. Turns out, the water pump was failing and needed replacing. Joey and his mechanics stepped up big time and took care of the problem, with a commitment to make sure my Prius was NOT going to overheat again. After the repair was completed, my Prius was road tested alot to confirm the overheat issue was fixed. The Prius was good to go!! Joey at Trident Auto took exceptional care of us and only charged us for the new water pump and gave us a big break on the labor. Plus, they smog tested my Prius, at no charge. Who does this anymore? Our wire for the computer connection was held up with one zip tie, and they refused to help us cut the zip tie and asked us to leave and get something to cut it with and come back and wait in line again . My car has spent three years with its engine light either on, or temporarily off after a repair, while the car computer took a bizarrely long time (1000+ miles on multiple occasions) to decide that the drive cycle had been completed, where it would immediately switch the engine light back on. Over those three years, I've been to various mechanics that have diagnosed and replaced a variety of things, attempting to figure out what exactly was wrong. And while they may have been necessary steps on the way to my car's final recovery, none of those steps managed to persuade the engine light to stay off. In the last few days, as of writing this, the guys at Trident managed to finally get the last issues sorted out, smogged the car, and it passed, ending a three year long problem that has eaten plenty of time and sanity. DO YOUR RESEARCH, there are other, cheaper, smog test only options close to this business. I do not recommend this business for your smog check needs. Wayyyyyyy over priced and took longer than they needed, they quoted me $90 for a smog test+certificate and electronic transfer (THIS COST DOES NOT INCLUDE RETEST IF YOU FAIL). I got it down to $70 with AAA discount. Took almost an hour to do the smog check. Ended up failing the check due to a ripped hose. Was verbally quoted $100+ to repair it+redo the test or buy the part myself and they would install it for $45. Ended up buying the part online and having another mechanic install it for me. When I was ready to redo my smog check, I called this location to ask about getting a discount on the smog check retest since I already paid so much for the first test. I was waiting almost 10 minutes for an answer over the phone. Ended up doing my smog check at another business that was 5 minutes away, which ended up being a much faster and reasonably priced experience! read more

They try to pull the classic mechanic move of giving you a quote then call hours later saying it's going to cost more because they didn't realize the work involved. The whole point of a quote is to understand and agree to a rate BEFORE you decide to use them. I expect any professional mechanic to be able to give an accurate quote, especially when they have inspected your car in person TWICE! If they fail to do so that cost is strictly on them. If I wanted to play games and get a surprise bill at the end in addition to you having my car for 2 days to do a simple battery swap, I would go to the dealer! I have taken various vehicles over the last couple of years. Each time I find then leaving with additional issues then befor they were dropped off. Also, on a clasdic vehicle that. I left for several days for leak repair (which was NOT cheap), was returned to me with barely any gas. Seriously?! It had half a tank. This wasn't the first time. I thought maybe I was wtong. I understand a test drive. But not a half-tank worth each time. Maybe joy riding should be discouraged at this facility. As for my boring commuter car, giving it back with very little gas was never an issue. Wow, Best Service, I waited a month before I wrote my review. I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe, Original Owner. It's raised my family and lasted 258,000 miles. In its older age, I mostly use it to pull a Travel Trailer. So, when it broke down. It was time to replace it. But, Todays Auto Market is crazy. But a New Motor cost Thousands like buying a New car. Machine Shops have gone out of Business. JOE suggest a USED Motor, Motor that are slightly Used that were in car accidents. But Engine are in good shape. He would rebuild it. Replace oil seals, Timing Chain, Water pumps, Do a Full tune up. Replace my Tiered-out engine. Well, I am amazed. My SUV Back. Feels like a New SUV. I missed that feeling where you are at a stop light and the Truck just want to go. I don't like to talk Cost, but the price is so affordable. I have my SUV Back, It's a joy to drive. AAA (American Automobile Association) towed my vehicle there. The initial visit, the listing repair was not provided since AAA provides 24,000 miles warranty. The initial repair was a fuel harness. When returning vehicle for secondary repair. By law as the initial work and part was not listed, either was the second. They returned the vehicle with 1% oil in engine. I have resided in this area for over 40 years. I never have received such aweful, law breaking when it concerned even the paperwork. No one should have their vehicle returned with only 1% oil in the engine. Once the oil was changed, it was solved, held 99% for weeks. Had the oil changed somewhere else. They sent me these photos then deleted them. I already took copy of them. read more
