GO! JUST GO! It's a wonderful evening of close up magic. Aaron is skilled at slight of hand, leaving you to wonder, again and again, how DID he do that??? The setting is intimate and cozy with perhaps 25 seats, all of them good, all close to the magic. With such a small audience, the odds are pretty good that you may be called upon to assist in the magic. For the participants, such moments are brief, amusing and, even standing next to the magician, amazing! (How DOES he do that?) And he takes pains not to make his audience uncomfortable. The venue allows for BYOB. A few mixers - soda and such - are sold there, BUT do remember to bring your own cup. The Trickery is warn, fun, funny, and astounding. Tickets are a bargain! On street parking is easy. You can bring your date. Heck, you can bring your date and your parents and you'll all go home mystified and happy. SO GO! JUST GO! And have a very good time! read more

This is one of the best nights out in Chicago. It was incredibly intimate, endlessly entertaining, and astonishingly creative. Aaron is a consummate host, and his magic is rivaled only by his hilarious, engaging banter with the audience. Besides all of the obvious reasons to see this wonderful show, you are supporting someone who had a vision and hustles nightly to make it a reality as a true one-man operation. The space is beautiful, the price is right, and BYOB is a nice perk. Nothing against the bigger operations in town, but this is the place to bring your friends and family for a memorable evening of magical entertainment. One word. Steve. I cannot emphasizes him enough.... Aaron, the lead, was wonderful. He provided the perfect combination of "trickery," sleight of hand, and real miracles. We were blown away. My face hurts from laughing. He was incredibly entertaining, dynamic, and real. I can't imagine a better use of 60 minutes. But, alas, Steve. Steve stole the show. He may just be Aaron's assistant, but he knew every bit to a t, cued the music, and perfectly executed the show. Very impressed. Since viewing the show, Steve has had 5 children from two mothers and it's wild to see him still pursuing his dream and delivering a perfect experience. You cannot go wrong. We visited Trickery on a Sunday afternoon with some great friends on our last day in Chicago. The venue is dark and cozy with decorations that match the theme perfectly. The magician Aaron warmly greeted our party of 5 as soon as we walked in. Upon entering the performance studio we discovered that 7 boys around the age of 12 were also there to enjoy the performance, one of them was celebrating a birthday. We thought oh Lord this will be a PG show instead of the normal adult performance we were expecting. Aaron began the show on time and it was clear that he was well prepared when he introduced himself. Aaron started out with some 'simple' magic tricks which were engaging and entertaining; He placed a new spin on the trusty old rope trick by engaging one of the kids. Aaron graduated to 'miracles' which involved various items including cards, eggs, balls, etc and most importantly a couple of beanie babies. Let me tell you those simple items played strategic roles in amazing and bewildering everyone! Throughout the entire performance Aaron engaged just about everyone in the audience. Aaron used his props, music and smoke effects to draw us all in. At the conclusion of the show Aaron truly shocked and amazed us all with his final reveal. I guarantee if you choose to attend a performance at Trickery and WE ALL STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO you will also be shocked and amazed; At the very least you will be thoroughly entertained for the 60 minute performance. read more

It's a really intimate venue (maybe 30 seats?) which makes the show all the more fun because everyone in the audience is up so close.
