The seating has always been pretty nice , to me much nicer than most AMC theaters except maybe Dolby. This does seem like a premier seating experience at least sometimes, it does. The theater has always been a good time with friendly staff and nice looking theaters but union square and Times Square regular are closer and more regular options for me. I look forward to actually coming back here soon though, hopefully an early 2026 visit once the calendar does change this time.

On the positive side, the popcorn and truffle fries were decent, but everything else fell short. The seats were just okay--not particularly comfortable. The bathroom situation was also frustrating--it's located upstairs near the restaurant and wasn't well maintained. There were no paper towels, and overall cleanliness was lacking. Overall, this felt like a subpar experience, and I won't be returning. My cousin mentioned the New Jersey location is much better, so maybe it's just this one--but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it.

It's zero-proof and gave off a solid spritzer vibe. If only the food kept that same energy. ​The "Shareables": We went with the buffalo wings and the coconut shrimp. The shrimp were surprisingly large, but they showed up without any sauce. Both were fine, I guess? Very generic food court vibes and unmemorable unmemorable. ​Fish & Chips: The chips (fries) were the best part of the meal, which is saying something. The fish had a weird sweetness to it, and the cocktail sauce was aggressively heavy on the cilantro. I'm usually a fan of cilantro, but here it just felt like it was lost and out of place. Also the fish was covered in bread crumbs and not a traditional batter. ​Lobster Roll: This was the biggest heartbreaker. It was generic, bland, and lacked any real flavor. If you're going to charge theater-premium prices for lobster, it should probably taste like something. ​It's disheartening to pay for a "luxury" experience only to be told you can't have 70% of what's on the menu. I would've had a much better time if I could've actually eaten what I came for. Sadly, I don't think I'll be back unfortunately

It's ideal for the type of films shown there, which are usually indies or foreign films (but anything can pop up). I come here now and again and this time around it was to see the Japanese comedy/horror 'Hot Springs Shark Attack', which was a lot of laughs. To get to the theater you need to walk through a portion of the hotel and head downstairs. It's next to the Django Jazz Club, which is also a great venue. It's a very nice environment, I think. Kind of elegant. If you see a film playing here that interests you, I would definitely encourage you to go. You'll like the vibe, I am sure.

It was the day of the final game of the World Cup between Spain and Argentina. Going to the Alamo Drafthouse is definitely an experience. I've heard it described as being for "film geeks," and I can attest to that. There is a major emphasis on Kim's Video, the old VHS video store, giving it a major retro vibe. The people who work at the front desk have film cred, which just adds to the vibe. When the movie was over, we were able to stop in at the drafthouse, which was open by the time the movie ended, and the World Cup game was being shown on a huge screen, so we got to see the final minutes of the match. All in all, a great experience for me, though my companion was not entirely enthralled by the concept of being waited on at your seat. I didn't mind it, though I don't see it as a necessity for the experience. That's the only reason it's a 4-star review & not a 5-star.

Drinks are also pretty standard, I had an aperol spritz and he had wine. I will say, however, the headphones are great. I could barely hear the bustling life that is New York below us and the movie quality was pretty good - minus one section that seemed to be glitched out but it was so small your brain fades it out. The guy who scans your ticket checks bags as well. I guess for contraband. There is a warning sign about flashing lights and water. The best part of the experience is the moving chairs. I always enjoy going to the IFC Center to watch movies, but this was the first time I went there during a film festival. It was a cool experience to watch the movie, and also vote on the feature and short film shown beforehand. IFC consistently has interesting and diverse programming and collaborations for people who love movies and movie-making.

I reckon he was more from the "you didn't even know that the Angenieux lens in Jaws was an homage to George Melies?!" camp, and didn't welcome the 8-year-olds who had a day off from school. Or maybe it was his own kid, which is awful in a different way. But a 10:55 movie starting at 10:55 can be a shocker in today's AMC-ized world. You can't blame IFC for that, but they need better internal consistency on starting times. On the plus side, where they have been hiding Theater 3? I usually wind up in the broom closet-type screens but this was a good one, with beautiful sound for the John Williams score. As many conspire against the theatrical film business including the industry itself, I appreciate IFC's well-chosen stash of oldies and its quirkier newer offerings like Secret Mall Apartment. And I'm also on Team Unassigned Seats.
