The food didn't help either--the spicy tuna was completely flavorless, not crispy and the drinks were underwhelming. We also weren't told ahead of time that you have to pick up your food and drinks yourself, which was surprising since we're used to full service at your seat. On the positive side, the popcorn and truffle fries were decent, but everything else fell short. The seats were just okay--not particularly comfortable. The bathroom situation was also frustrating--it's located upstairs near the restaurant and wasn't well maintained. There were no paper towels, and overall cleanliness was lacking. Overall, this felt like a subpar experience, and I won't be returning. My cousin mentioned the New Jersey location is much better, so maybe it's just this one--but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it.

It's hard to stay excited about a premium experience when you're basically forced into a "leftovers" draft pick of things you wouldn't normally order. ​Guava Fresca: Actually pretty good! It's zero-proof and gave off a solid spritzer vibe. If only the food kept that same energy. ​The "Shareables": We went with the buffalo wings and the coconut shrimp. The shrimp were surprisingly large, but they showed up without any sauce. Both were fine, I guess? Very generic food court vibes and unmemorable unmemorable. ​Fish & Chips: The chips (fries) were the best part of the meal, which is saying something. The fish had a weird sweetness to it, and the cocktail sauce was aggressively heavy on the cilantro. I'm usually a fan of cilantro, but here it just felt like it was lost and out of place. Also the fish was covered in bread crumbs and not a traditional batter. ​Lobster Roll: This was the biggest heartbreaker. It was generic, bland, and lacked any real flavor. If you're going to charge theater-premium prices for lobster, it should probably taste like something. ​It's disheartening to pay for a "luxury" experience only to be told you can't have 70% of what's on the menu. I would've had a much better time if I could've actually eaten what I came for. Sadly, I don't think I'll be back unfortunately

It's ideal for the type of films shown there, which are usually indies or foreign films (but anything can pop up). I come here now and again and this time around it was to see the Japanese comedy/horror 'Hot Springs Shark Attack', which was a lot of laughs. To get to the theater you need to walk through a portion of the hotel and head downstairs. It's next to the Django Jazz Club, which is also a great venue. It's a very nice environment, I think. Kind of elegant. If you see a film playing here that interests you, I would definitely encourage you to go. You'll like the vibe, I am sure.

Watched The Mummy Returns (2001): 25th Anniversary Movie Party at Alamo. Originally booked tickets…read morethinking it was just a regular showing, but it turns out Alamo's "Movie Parties" come with extra perks. Each guest had themed movie props/goodies laid out at their table, which was a nice surprise. The hosts were fully dressed in The Mummy Returns outfits from head to toe. One of the them came in front of the screen before the movie started and introduced the movie with a bunch of fun facts and an entertaining bit. Super glad we went. It was really fun. I didn't order food or drinks this time. However, I've had drinks and the loaded fries at Alamo before, and they were fantastic. The loaded fries are honestly better than a lot of restaurant quality ones.

I'm seven months pregnant and was waiting in the lobby for my husband. I needed to sit down due to some discomfort, but the booth in the waiting area was occupied. The adjacent café was closed and roped off, but because I needed to get off my feet, I took a seat at the high-top closest to the entrance, deliberately staying as close to the lobby as possible since I was conscious that the café was closed. An employee came over and told me I needed to move. Totally understandable. But when I explained that I was very pregnant and had just needed somewhere to sit, he gestured rudely and sarcastically toward the lobby bench, where one person of a couple who had been sitting there had just gotten up. I explained that the bench hadn't been available when I sat down, and he responded shortly, "There are benches downstairs." Again, I had no issue with being asked to move. It was the unnecessarily hostile way the interaction was handled, particularly after I explained why I'd sat there -- and I honestly didn't know there were benches downstairs. Even the couple sitting on the bench seemed taken aback by the exchange. So I waddled downstairs and found a bench to wait on. All in all, a buzz kill during what otherwise should have been a nice outing, and a disappointing experience at a place I normally really enjoy.

Approached the Box Office and was handed my Bluetooth headphones. No snacks needed. No candy needed. No beverages needed. As I enter the cinema, an array of beige candles are glowing. The room temperature is comfortable. After a short period, our host introduces the house rules and film of the evening. The lights are lowered and the screening begins.

You may have heard about the successful company that helped destroy movie theaters by pivoting to "content" meant to promote purchases of high-end TVs and nice couches. (Related, I went to Best Buy and didn't recognize anything. Is that a thermostat? A stereo? A smart garden hose?) This company was so successful, that after Knives Out was heralded as single-handedly reviving non-Marvel film, its sequel was withheld from the theaters it allegedly saved. (BTW, if you were planning to tell me to watch the amazing 53-part Quibi streaming series about The Golden Age Of Hollywood, don't bother). But after Netflix helped destroy theaters, it did a nice thing. It's one of those ironic moments like the purse-snatcher scene in Jay Kelly. It signed a lease that helped the Paris avoid the fate of the Ziegfeld and a million others, in a world where the AMC theaters that destroyed all the independents have been suffering themselves. So, while it was vile that Netflix thought Roma should be seen on TVs, it was nice of them to show it at the Paris, especially for the unusually vibrant sound. I saw Train Dreams Saturday. I suppose, like the kid in Squid and The Whale, I am a philistine. I wish I could praise its morose existentialism but I'm not quite on board. However, I did appreciate the majesty of the northwestern fires and falling trees in this venue. There was no assigned seating; not sure if this is just temporary, but if they keep that policy I might be obliged to overlook Netflix's evil and upgrade to 5 stars.

It's such a simple detail, but it made a big difference for our kids--they didn't have to balance popcorn, snacks, and drinks in their laps for the entire movie. The only downside was that the sound seemed a bit louder than necessary during parts of the movie. It wasn't enough to ruin the experience, but we definitely noticed it. Overall, we had a great visit and would happily return for another family movie night. The comfortable seating, thoughtful tray tables, and convenient Times Square location made it an easy choice for celebrating a special occasion.

Oh! Also! The movies! They have such great selections and series. There are old favorites and fun surprises. I have only seen one pick here where I left wondering why they picked it. Everything else has either been a rare chance to see a classic on screen or a wonderful surprise. There are also great talks and events. I have never done the commissary but one day I will. I bet the food is good. Everything at Metrograph is good. I wish they had more/cooler merch. I would rep Metrograph.
